A Few Questions About the Enemy Territory

After saying this, Vance and Celine headed towards the living room. As they walked in, they saw that Alice and Sarah were sitting on the couch along with Hope and Jess. Alice was reading a book and Sarah was laughing while looking at Hope and Jess. Hope was on the couch with her hands on her face while Jess was standing up with her hands in the air in a celebratory manner.

Seeing this, Vance put his hand to his mouth and chuckled. Jess, hearing this, turned around and saw Vance standing there looking at her. realizing that Vance had seen her celebration, she started blushing.

Vance decided to speak up first.

"Cute celebration Jess."

Hearing Vance's statement caused Jess' face to become more red.

Noticing her sister's embarrassment, Hope decided to bail Jess out. She turned towards Vance and began to speak.

"What's up Sir Vance?"

Hearing the attempt to change the subject, Vance didn't resist and went with the flow.

"Before we head out and start moving the base towards the Rising Dragon Kingdom, I had a few questions about the situation over there. Stuff like what the currency is, what their views are on slavery, how strict the laws are. Things of that nature."

Hearing Vance's statement, Jess calmed down and started to think. After a moment of contemplation, she spoke up.

"Well if you're asking about currency, then I can say that they do use a different one than we do. The base materials are pretty much the same though. So if you try to use a coin of ours there, most people will accept it, but the stores and services run by the kingdom itself will most likely reject it."

Hope was the next one to speak.

"When it comes to slavery, they're one of the kingdoms that believes that Humans are the superior race, so they treat Beastmen as slaves. They also tend to be fairly loose with the slavery of humans, and other species as well. Especially Elves. When you're there, you'll come across some slaves that were kidnapped, some that sold themselves, some that were sold away, and some that were grabbed because of debt."

Vance began thinking about the things that could happen on the trip. After a moment, he spoke.

"And are there any special laws that I need to be aware of before we go?"

Sarah, who was listening to the conversation, decided to answer that.

"Well, as guild staff, it was important that we knew the laws of the kingdoms, just in case we had to interact with the people from there. I may not remember all of the information, but one law that comes to mind, is that you should make sure not to speak badly about the nobles and royalty. It's not really an official law, but it's common for people to go missing after doing so."

Vance rolled his eyes and spoke.

"Ah yes, the suppression of opinions. It was expected. But if I were to avoid doing that, wouldn't it be more for the sake of the nobles and royalty not having to die by my hand?"

Hearing this, everyone in the room looked at Vance and nodded in agreement.
