Chapter 16: Tia Dalma
~Liam POV~
*Thud*
Finally.
Going up using the stairs from the sides of Cuba I managed to park the submarine on a nearby cliff as I used my Telekinesis to enhance my body and started climbing at inhumane speeds as I finally got to the top.
Whew…
When I got myself back here I used my PAD to digitize the submarine back into the small device as I began to hurry up the forest side of Cuba.
This could take some time to find Tia Dalma's home residence.
To take the path to her home though I would need to go by the Cypress Forest to be able to get to the shack.
Those who journey to the shack where Tia Dalma lived had to find their way through a spooky cypress forest located in a bayou.
Usually, these adventurers would launch longboats and cautiously paddle up to the mouth of the thick swampland of the Pantano River.
Farther into the forest, home to a variety of reptiles, including alligators stirring on mud banks, a sense of unease descends as the tall trees block out the sunlight and the curious swamp people watch any adventurers silently from the riverbanks.
*Splash*
*Splash*
And speaking of rivers I hear one in the far distance maybe that should lead me to the next destination or at the very least a settlement here in Cuba would be very helpful.
Though the people of the swamp do them no harm, visitors like Jack Sparrow's crew get nervous just from being watched so closely; a pair of eyes seems to peer at them from every shadow.
They were not so worried by the figures they can see clearly, like this old man sitting in a rocking chair on his porch, with a dog at his feet. It's what they couldn't see clearly that they fear most, such as the figures half-hidden in the leaves.
Yeah…
Got to make notes and be wary of the trees or shadowy figures hiding in the dark.
Taking my chance, I made my way to where the river is while staying on land passing through…
…
…
As I followed the river I made my way to a settlement I sighed in relief at finding out where this path would lead.
Seeing some Jamaicans nearby I began to go to a ferryman with a canoe as I go to him trying to ask for assistance, "Hello good sir I was wondering if you could let me use your canoe to help me get to Miss Tia Dalma's home."
He glanced at me as he began to speak to me as people are staring at me as he spoke, "Ello stranger. Yuh wish tuh use fi mi boat tuh buck up di Voodoo WItch? wah hab yuh offa tuh trade white man?"
What?
Oh!
Forgot that the settings of the Pirates of the Caribbean are more of the past and saying one's own color is still a thing here or at least in Cuba?
Could be wrong as it could be in the wrong year but… meh.
From what he spoke he wants to trade me something for his boat or canoe in my eyes…
Let's see…
Turning around and using my PDA I got some golden accessories made of gold that would be more valuable here when I paid for it with my money.
This should help the guy out and have my trades at the ready when the Jamaican guy saw it he nodded his head in agreement as he replied, "Oh! dat a gold isn't? Very well mi wi trade yuh fi mi canoe buh return ih wen yuh a dun white mon."
Handing over the gold accessories I agreed for the man to take it as I only need the compass from her and be done with it.
With that, I took the boat and began to make my move down the river path to the core or middle parts of Cuba to find the miss.
*Splash*
Like that, I followed the path down the stream of the river.
…
Been a few minutes since I began to follow down this path as I push the boat using my Telekinesis as I continue towards my path down but I have to admit this place is creepy as fuck.
And that goes with the fact that the spirits in the area are glancing at me behind the trees as I kindly waved at them spooking them in return.
Have to admit having Esper powers basically allowed me to see in a sixth sense mysterious supernatural beings like a ghost easily.
"Grr…"
Glancing in my direction I see a whole family of crocodiles or alligators coming toward me seeing that I'm a nice snack for them with me being alone.
Yeah…
*Fwoosh*
*Splash*
Using my Telekinesis I forced the reptiles out by controlling them and swinging out of my direction of the river as the others seemed to be spooked out by this and swam away from the danger.
Sorry reptile but I'm not on the menu tonight.
Have better luck with the snakes or frogs in the area.
Now then I should be becoming close to the middle or core of Cuba soon enough the house should be recognizable soon enough once I got a good look at it.
Following the Pantano River, I began to search for it.
…
…
Tia Dalma's shack was a sprawling wooden shack that served as the home to the voodoo priestess, Tia Dalma, perched on a treetop by the mouth of the Pantano River located in Cuba.
In a damp and gloomy world where nothing is quite what it seems to be, Tia Dalma kept various trinkets and spells inside her shack.
The journey to the tumbledown shack was not an easy one, as adventurers had to cautiously paddle up the still water of a steamy bayou, located in a spooky cypress forest, where fireflies flickered in the heavy air.
Still, it seems like I have finally arrived at my target destination though as I finally made it.
Perched in a treetop by the mouth of the Pantano River is a shack belonging to the voodoo priestess, Tia Dalma.
A damp and gloomy world where nothing is quite what it seems to be, Tia Dalma's shack clings to the branches of a tree in a distant part of the swamp. Though it glows brightly, the hut seems to suck the light out of the spooky cypress forest in the bayou.
Not much is known about the shack, except that the voodoo mystic Tia Dalma resided in there at some point after the First Brethren Court.
The journey to Tia's shack was not an easy one, as adventurers had to cautiously paddle up the still water of the Pantano River and find their way through a steamy bayou, where fireflies flickered in the heavy air of the spooky cypress forest. Tia Dalma's sprawling shack clings to the branches of a tree in a distant part of the swamp.
However, some believe it would be a mistake to judge Tia Dalma by her humble home. She had uncanny powers to foretell the future, summon up demons, and look deep into men's souls.
With a clatter of crab claws on a rough wooden table, the voodoo mystic could see what ordinary mortals cannot by gently throwing the claws on the table and "reading" their positions.
*Knock*
*Knock*
Once I got near the shack in question I disembark from the boat as I made my way to the door and knocked on it, "Hello is this where the fabled Tia Dalma is located? Is she perhaps home I was wondering if you would assist me miss?"
Opening the door on the other end was the Voodoo Mistress herself Tia Dalma in the flesh as she saw me and gestured to enter as she spoke, "Ello deh adventurer tuh wah duh mi owe di pleasure ah helping yuh today? Interested eena fi mi trinckets?"
Nodding at this I didn't beat around the bush as I began to ask for the magic compass that always leads to the destination of one's own desire, "Correct miss Tia. I was wondering if you have any magic compass to help me find the desired location I would need. I'm more than willing to trade for it if possible?"
She hums at this as she began to glance around the area of her home as she began to search for it.
When she does so I glanced around the trinkets in the area as they are all magical in nature with different uses.
The thought did occur to take them but I don't know what they do so…
Not wise to do so.
"Ah!"
Hearing the sound I saw that Tia Dalma managed to find the exact compass as she began to make a deal with me for it, "Here! dis a di magical compass yuh seek buh mi nah guh gi dis up fah free wah wud yuh lakka tuh trade fah dis item? sinting useful ar favors gud sir?"
Hmm…
Taking a moment I began to take out the Fabricator to her as she has her eyes shined as I began to explain everything about the Fabricator in simple terms that everything would be reusable to her and her resources.
Along with some medical and herb books to her out of my PDA as I explained greatly as she nods happily at this trade for her.
I mean she lives all alone in the middle of nowhere so I would assume she would greatly need to reuse her items.
With that, she agreed to the deal as I now have the compass as she gave me what the use for the compass does and never betray it or else I pay the price for it.
Yeah, not going to fuck that up.
Thanking her for the compass and handing her the items I began to take the boat back to her and maneuver around the river again I need to go back to the original spot where I open the portal.
Still, at least this compass makes navigating the area and finding a person easier now.
Now then since I finish what I came to get time for me to get that surgery in the Danganronpa world.
I only need to enter inside their secret base and portal in till I found the right one.
