Great Tests, Great Rewards

A familiar sound ringed in his mind.

[You have cleared Mission N.9 Fated. Recieved Heavenly Rune Manual (Beginning).]

"Ughhh..." as the knowledge entered his mind, Guihu Luixing once again felt that agonizing headache.

Shortly after, the pain passed and he could think about just happened.

'Mission N.9? Wasn't that the one that needed me to help Hector into becoming a [Fated]. How come I completed it?'

[Host is mistaken] he heard the system's voice in his head.

'Mistaken?' he asked.

[Yes. The mission didn't specify the target to transform into a [Fated]. Anyone would do, even that soul.]

'Soul?! You mean...?!' It finally dawned on Guihu Luixing what happened. Immediately he activated the Fate Agent Eyes and looked towards Serana.

The Fate Agent Eyes makes your vision very different from normal. You don't see colors, shapes and light. You purely saw information and mystery.

Take for example Serana, who is currently right in front of Guihu Luixing. While using the Fate Agent Eyes, he saw basically saw a few bits of information from her.

There was information pointing to the fact that she now was a [Fated]. If Guihu Luixing was asked how he "saw" that he would say that it's because "The rive doesn't touch her.", whatever that means.

He could also say that while her position as [Fated] was new, it was increasing in power. Guihu Luixing would explain that saying "The stars are agitated, but still gathering.", if that made any sense.

Eveb Guihu Luixing himself didn't really exactly understood what he was seeing. If not for the knowledge he recieved when he got the Fate Agent Eyes, he would likely not understand anything as well.

He knew what it was, but couldn't explain why it was. He just knew what he knew and didn't know anything else.

Deactivating his Fate Agent Eyes, he looked towards Serana, normally this time, who was also checking her own body.

Clear image. No tint. Colored aura. Everything pointed that Serana mutated into a Specter.

She seemed a bit different from a normal Specter though, so he decided to check the Primordial Soul Mantra's encyclopedia.

It didn't take long for him to find a match.

Rainbow Coat Specter.

A rare mutation of specters where they could use any element.

When a ghost reached a cultivation level equivalent to a Dantian Formation Realm cultivator, they would mutate from a ghost into a specter.

A Specter's appearance was much more close than a ghost's to when they were alive. They were also much sharper, and could speak freely. Ghosts usually lost much intellect when they mutated from souls, which explains their difficulty in speech and how easy is to control them.

A Specter, however, had all his knowledge back, and some became had even sharper minds when compared with when they were alive. They usually kept the main elements affinity they had as a ghost, usually Dark, Yin, Water, Wood or Earth, and usually developed a couple more.

That leads to the question "What about the Rainbow Coat Specter?". They could easily control any elements, that's why they have a rainbow "coating" to them. Actually it's environmental Qi that's naturally surrounding them, just like a Qi Interaction Realm would do.

What Guihu Luixing couldn't understand was how Serana became a Rainbow Coat Specter, when her cultivation level was nowhere near a cultivator of the Dantian Formation Realm.

Even Guihu Luixing's own cultivation was much higher than hers!

It seemed the Primordial Soul Mantra was truly special. He didn't follow the steps the mantra suggested for taming ghosts, but just some exposure to the mantra, and Serana changed completely.

Guihu Luixing shaked his head to discard the useless thoughts before asking "How are you feeling?"

He didn't really need to ask. The connection he had to Serana didn't disappear even after she ended the Spiritual Tribulation. This was another thing that puzzled him.

"I feel great. I feel power coursing through my body. I feel like I can do anything. I feel like my dream might not be just a dream anymore." she answered excitedly.

"That's good." He said. "Find out more about your capabilities. Test all your skills. Stealth, elemental manipulation, physical capabilities, everything. Of course, while maintaining yourself hidden. I suggest you do it at night. There's a secluded training ground not far from the north. You can use that place."

Serana's eyes started sparkling at the thought of having powers. She was extremely anxious to test them. She deflated a bit when she heard Guihu Luixing saying she had to way until late night.

"Sigh. Fine, you can test some here. But nothing that makes noises nor any kind of attacks."

She happily acquiesced and started to test her stealth.

Guihu Luixing shoke his head. Suddenly he remembered something. He sharply turned his head to the side and saw a fox pup shocked into stone.

Dark Moon was obviously shocked by what happened in the room. She already accumulated quite a bit of knowledge, so even though she didn't understand exactly what happened, she could form an reasonably accurate guess.

Especially about Serana's current race. She didn't need to study about it. As someone who live in the Ghost Fox Valley Sect, she obviously knew what Specters were. That's exactly what shocked her so much.

'Luixing already has a Dantian Formation subordinate!' she thought.

Even though she was born with an advanced cultivation in comparison to humans, she didn't have any training nor combat experience, so she couldn't detect Serana's true strength. She just assumed based on her race.

Soon her shock became anger. 'Who the hell is this woman? Where did she come from? Why is she serving Luixing if she's so strong?'

Her anger slowly became anxiety and she felt like Serana was going to steal Guihu Luixing from her.

'I won't allow it.'

"Dark Moon." Guihu Luixing's voice woke her up.

"I hope you won't tell this to anyone. It'll be our secret okay?"

'Our secret?' Dark Moon, for some reason, really liked those words.

"Kon!" she answered with a energetic bark.

After dealing with the urgent business, Guihu Luixing checked the reward he recieved from the mission.

[Heavenly Rune Manual (Beginning)

Everything in creation is made in the language of the Heavens. If one masters the Heavens' language they earn the ability, equal to the Heavens, to craft creations. The manual is incomplete.]

Besides this short and boastful description, there were 35.000 symbols. Each looked like a letter and Guihu Luixing felt like he had seen some of them before.

'Yes' he answered.

Even the most powerful of the expert fears and respect the heavens. Every expert try and copy the heavens. As long as one has enough strength and dedication, is possible to learn some of the Heavens' language. You however got a manual that spoon fed more symbols than most experts learn in all of their lives. Master them! It will be indispensable for you and the ones you'll gide in the future.

Guihu Luixing could only sigh in frustration. 'Another "No penalty" mission. Every yime I see one these, I feel a sense of urgency.' he shoke his head.

Guihu Luixing looked at the time limit and felt understimated.

'System, is tgere something wrong with the mission? I feel like this time limit is a little too big.'

The system's response surprised him.
