Callen, the lower suburbs, rats, bye bye rodents

we were on our way to the lower suburbs basically a giant zone where the police didn't even like to go because of all the gang activity and my new 'partner' is lucky if I don't smash his face into a brick wall.

his name is Callen I don't know why but Jase always pairs me up with annoying and obnoxious people he loves to ask me very personal questions and speak loudly and he has absolutely no manners which I who grew up with parents that make you practice table manners and posture for hours find very annoying.

his most recent question was about my 'preference' in a very judgmental tone to which I slapped his face though he did have higher stats than me I was in the combatant group even now I'm a backup so I can actually throw a punch unlike Callen who I realised can barely use a sword.

Entering the lower suburbs we made our way to the high hopes primary school quite the ironic name considering it is where parents with no hope send their children.

one the way we saw a bunch of dilapidated buildings it was hard to tell if they were like that before or after the start of the apocalypse.

worse was the smell before it was oil and excrement but now blood and decay was added to that list making it one of the most nauseating places I had ever been.

the school was even worse but for some reason was lacking in bodies but there were rats lots of rats all going in and out of the school building so I guess we should investigate.

but Callen didn't start to follow me so I turned around with a questioning look on my face to which he replied with a really weird notion.

"haven't you ever seen a horror movie? that place is a death trap!"

to this I pointed to myself a literally immortal being to which he chuckled nervously and caught up with me.

the inside of the school smelled of rot and death yet there were no bodies to be found but I soon found out why after going a bit deeper the rats had built a burrow out of the bodies the entire school was just one big fleshy rat burrow and the rats were getting bigger and more aggressive until we reached a door made out of flesh and organs.

pushing open the door I saw something I didn't expect or want to see there was a giant mother rat that was constantly birthing new rats when I say giant I mean it was at least 5 metres long and I also see children eating the fleshy walls and a few baby rats eating each other there was one kid on a throne of flesh glaring at me he was wearing a crown of rats and Started speaking.

"my oh my what do we have here a cat in a rats den? to bad they are outnumbered tell me what you want?"

I replied promptly

"I'm just looking around trying to find some survivors but I see that you're just fine so please excuse me"

I turned around and started walking but was stopped by a giant wall of rats all moving in and out of the wall Callen fell on his butt on the fleshy floor I looked behind me and saw the kid walking on a platform made of rats and he spoke.

"now I may be a child but here I am a god you are not free to leave"

I looked at Callen and asked a question.

"what are our chances?"

he looked back at me.

"for you? 100% survival rate for me? closer to zero"

I looked at him as if he was an idiot.

"my chance of winning not dying stupid"

he contemplated for a small moment and then gave a more appropriate answer.

" 30/70 us being the thirty I see some weird abilities like a barrier spell so if I include that it's 40/60"

I smiled and exclaimed a small word that seemed to scare Callen for some reason.

"perfect

I did something that seemed to shock the rat king I broke my arm in a very unique way so that I had a long piece of bone sticking out and I conjured as many pain swords as I could and I threatened him.

"let us go and we will leave without any trouble"

he sighed and put down the rat wall with a small gesture of his hand and pointed out and we left without a fight.

I didn't let down my guard until we left the lower suburbs and I put a circle around the lower suburbs on a map I was given and wrote 'rat king' it wasn't that he was scared it was just that he didn't see us a worth it.

next was the middle suburbs.
