Escape Plan

"Okay, first thing, tell me how are you alive?" I asked Jacob as I couldn't digest that he was alive.

"So as you saw me the last time, I was almost dead. But the vines do not kill us, they only leave us in a state of decay. After 2-3 days, these people came and rescued me. I wasn't knowing what was happening to me. Somedays after I recovered and they told me that they have injected me with a vaccine. They say that the vines and the Kamrales can introduce Schistosomiasis Gen-3 in humans, a disease known for being a part of the death of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. Studies of this disease indicate that Kamarales are closely related to the Thutmosid Dynasty, the dynasty of King Tut. So the vaccine for this disease could be made without much difficulty. Since then, I am with this group. This organisation, Stealth Squad, as they call them, is travelling the whole world to find and save survivors.

"So where is their base?" I wanted to know more about this group.

"It's in Egypt, we are heading there".

"How many people have you helped till now?" I asked one of the members of the group.

"Hard to tell but yeah, around 20 from each country and we have been to 7 countries so far. So, there must be around 150 people at the base including you and excluding the original members of the squad like me".

But I still couldn't trust them, I had a feeling of suspicion. Why would anyone risk their lives and travel the world between these monsters to save someone? And how did they get these helicopters and fuel for it in this apocalypse? After flying for days we reached their base in Egypt. The original members' clothing was distinguishable from other people. And as for me, I couldn't see more than 50 survivors at the base. My doubt increased, and I began to think about where others could be. There were tents to live in but not many people there too. The base was fenced by electric wires. We took one tent. I discussed this thing with them but they were already too tired of ongoing things that they didn't want to think about this. Maybe I should also stop thinking about this. I went outside to walk and see what the members do, but nothing much interesting. Every day some people came and some people were taken somewhere in a truck. I asked people who were there before us about where the people were taken.

"Even I wonder about this. But never got to know this. I also asked the members of the squad but they dodged the question as if they are hiding something. In somedays I will also be taken, god knows where" Robby said with a bit fear who was also a survivor. My doubt was increasing and I was feeling like I should leave this place as soon as possible. I decided to discuss this with my friends. I went inside the tent where they all were sitting. I asked them also about the people who were taken but they were also blank about it.

"They don't look trustworthy, at least to me. Don't you see how many survivors are here? As per what they have told us about their mission till now, we should have seen only survivors all around us but we rarely find them. And you ever noticed that every day some people are taken somewhere in a truck and they don't return? No one also knows where they are taken and if we ask this to the squad members, they ignore the question. We should leave this place without letting anyone know" I kept my opinion forward.

"He's right, I also don't feel good here. Let's leave at night" Kevin agreed with me and so did others.

"But how are we gonna do it? Some members have their night shift and also there is no way out other than the entrance gate where there is security" Jacob raised the issue.

"That's right. we need to work out an escape plan, quickly, because we too don't have many days left now. We can be anytime asked to go with them anytime".

"I will also come with you all", a voice came from behind, we all moved our eyes onto that girl, "I overheard your plan. I am also not sure about this place and want to get out of here. Please take me also".

"We should buy a bus now" Adam joked. Some of us enjoyed that too but that was a bit rude, to be honest.

"Yes, you can! We were just about to begin our planning. You can help us too. By the way, what's your name?" I supported her.

"Angela"

"Cool! So now let's begin" Jacob took out a chart paper, "Found this in the base's storeroom".

"First we need to do something about these guards that are roaming around our tents. We need to play hide and seek with them"

"What if we get caught?"

"We need weapons. And then we reach the borders of the base. Now the problem is to pass the electric fence"

"Don't worry about that, I will handle it. I just need some materials" Jacob is always there to help in these situations, "I will do my work at night and that's why I need support"

"Sure, once we get weapons than 3 of us will go with you"

"But guys, cameras are installed at many points here. How are you gonna escape them? We need to hack those cameras"

"I will take care of that" Angela stood up, "I have done many cyber hacks till now"

"Cool, we got someone good, ya?"

''Yeah''

''Ok so the plan is first Angela will hack the cameras, then we will go to the weapons room which is not far away but we have to hide from the guards. Then when we get the weapons we will go to the border and Jacob will defuse the electric shocks from the fence and then we will escape!"

''Sounds a good plan to me", Priya supported.

"So let's sleep now because I don't think we will be able to sleep tomorrow" I laughed and so did the others

We then slept.

We woke up at 7 am. We investigated the whole camp and found a map of it. We marked the weapons room and the camera room. Angela said that if she needs to hack then she will require a phone and the code of any camera. It was almost 5 PM when we were done investigating the camp We sneaked to the weapons room and took some guns and an axe with us. Angela requested," I will be needing someone with me to help. And meanwhile, Jacob can break the currents and then we will reach there too. I found some walkie talkies. So our new plan was that Angela will close the cameras and then we will break the currents and then we will escape.

We saw Robby being taken away in a truck. He saw me and pointed towards his tent. I ran towards his tent and noticed a map over there. He knew that we are escaping so he made a map of the outside world in which he told us which places are safe and which are not.
