Pepper Saltzman

"Are you ready for golf?", I asked Phil who was sitting in front of me while looking at my clock.

"Of course I am", Phil answered enthusiastically.

"Jay will arrive every moment. After that, we will drive to the golf club. But Phil if you don't enjoy golfing you don't need to do it. You love trampolines. Maybe your client too. Well, what I want to say is, don't think you need to learn golfing. If you don't want to don't do it", I said in a careful voice trying to warn Phil.

Phil's personality wasn't too compatible with golf. Combined with Jay's usual attitude with Phil it is destined to be hell for Phil.

About a minute after I warned Phil someone rang the doorbell. I went towards the door and opened it.

In front of me were Gloria and Jay.

"Hello, Gloria. You look as beautiful as ever", I greeted Gloria with a little compliment.

"Hi, Jay. Already excited about going golfing?", I greeted Jay more casually.

"I don't know. I am lucky that you accepted my invitation. If I didn't have you and only went with Phil I would probably die", Jay said with a laugh. This caused him to be hit by Gloria.

"Be nicer to Phil", she warned her husband.

Jay didn't argue back. Phil came a minute later with a sports bag. We all went into Jay's car and drove towards the golfing course where I had already been once with Jay.

Putting our sports bags into the dressing room we all went onto the course.

"Who shall begin?", I asked Jay and Phil while driving towards the first hole. It was nearby.

"You are Jay. I only know some of the basics", Phil said.

"Well. I can begin", I said after which Jay nodded in agreement.

At this moment we already were in front of the hole. 

I took a golfing club and took a golf ball.

"The most important thing in Golf is consistency, Phil. Only if you hit the ball every time can you advance", I said while swinging the golfing club.

After the last swing, I hit the ball. The ball fell near the hole. It was a beginner's course. Very easy.

"Thanks for the explanation Ethan", Phil thanked me.

"Hi Mitchell. What are you doing here?", I saw a golf cart driving towards us. Mitchell and a person in cargo pants coming. I knew this must be the legendary Pepper Saltzmann.

"Hi, Guys. I am currently golfing with Pepper", Mitchell greeted back.

"Oh. We still don't know each other yet. You are Pepper as Mitchell said, right?", I asked the middle-aged man in front of me.

"Yes. And you must be Haley's boyfriend. Mitchell didn't exaggerate with your handsomeness, " Pepper replied with a little compliment.

Mitchell was a little embarrassed.

"You guys wanna golf?", Jay suddenly asked.

"I would love to", Mitchell said in an excited voice.

I was no fool and knew Mitchell probably waited for Jay to come here. I knew from Haley and some stories that Claire told a while ago that Mitchell was very bad at sports. Claire and Jay loved sports though. Mitchell probably wanted to get back at his dad by surprising him.

This thought was only confirmed after Mitchell played so badly that it could only be fake.

"Wait Mitchell", I warned him.

"Take the club a little more up otherwise you will hit the ground", I warned Mitchell only now as he was now getting serious. He was still pretty bad, to be honest.

"Thanks, Ethan", Mitchell said adjusting his posture. 

This continued on every hole. I helped Mitchell and Phil adjust their postures and some other mistakes they made, while Jay, Pepper, and I discussed some things. I had a lot of free time while they were golfing. It was easy to do these two things at the same time. 

Pepper was a person you love to talk with.

We soon arrived at the last hole.

It was a close race between the two teams.

In the end, Jay and Phil won with a slight advantage.

After that, I said my goodbyes to Pepper and Mitchell.

I continued to be together with Jay and Phil for the time being due to Luke and Manny being in a school theater event. Haley wanted me to come for it to not be as boring.

I didn't mind that and I would be with Jay and Phil anyway the whole time. Due to that, I agreed.

I soon arrived at the school with Jay and Phil.

The event was the same as Haley predicted. Boring.

After the event, I still drove towards the Dunphy's house with Haley.

We did the usual.

Shortly before I decided to drive home to get a good rest for the next day I looked out of the window and saw an interesting sight.

I saw Phil jump onto a trampoline with the client he talked about early in the morning when we were golfing.

It seems that both enjoyed it.

Looking to the side I suddenly noticed Frank, Phil's dad. 

Frank gave me a thumbs up. I smiled and nodded at him.

After that, I drove home.
