The king of vanaheim was momentarily stunned by the whirlpool of information that was dumped on him . He could not beleive that his daughter was having a kind-of love affair with someone and he was in the dark about it. 

When he looked at his daughter , he saw happiness and eagerness in her eyes , an emotion that she had not displayed ever since her mother had passed away early in her childhood , and somehow he felt that he was powerless infront of those eyes.
