The path of evolution

"Okay, boss, I am ready. Let's talk about our path. The path of evolution."

Glitch said nothing but started to think about how much he should share here. He could not tell everything to this little guy; that would only create confusion. After a long thought, he decided to just explain the difference between this and the other paths.

He stared at Lark and asked, "What do you know about the path of evolution?"

This time, Lark did not rush like in the past two times. Instead, he scratched his head. This was the most confusing path for him. He said in an uncertain tone, "Boss, from what I know, the path of evolution is limitless, with little to no restriction. In this path, a creature needs to evolve to increase their grade, but I do not know how they can achieve this evolution."

Glitch shook his head. "It depends on how you look. On the creature scale, this path is the most bounded and restricted path, where moving to the higher grade is the hardest, though you are also not wrong."

Lark tilted his head. "How can both be true, boss?"

Glitch smiled. "Well, if you look at the species scale, this path is the most versatile path."

Lark scratched his head in confusion. "Ahh boss…" He was so confused that he did not even know what to ask.

Glitch sighed, and then once again picked up the stick and started making the third graph.

He was not an excellent speaker in his past or current life. After all, how could he become an excellent speaker when he never had the chance to express himself all his life?

Through past life experience, he knew he could effectively convey things through graphs and diagrams. It was not suitable for instant action, but it was a good way of explaining things to others.

After making the initial line that represented current development, he once again drew on top of the first line, which barely shifted a centimeter up by the end of the graph.

Lark looked at this map in confusion. He understood that the first line was the same as the other, but this time the second line did not show much improvement. He waited for the boss to add things to the map, but Glitch just laid down the stick.

Lark pointed to the map. "Boss, why is there so little progress in the graph, and where are the geniuses of this graph?"

Glitch shook his head. "Right now, there are no geniuses in the space village."

Lark looked at him with wide eyes and said, "How can this be possible, boss? Each space village has some genius among them. Even if they are not present, it's not like there can't be any in the future."

Glitch nodded his head. "You are not wrong, but what do you think this path is based on?"

Not even a second passed before Lark blurted out, "Evolution."

Glitch nodded his head and then stared at Lark. "That's the problem. In the first path, we have everything related to knowledge. In the second path, it's all related to creature influence. But in this path, there is no step or method a creature could follow that ensures their evolution. You want to know where the geniuses of this path are, right?"

Lark nodded his head and said, "Yeah."

Glitch poked a few random dots up on the graph. Then he picked up his stick and changed the line in such a way that it looked like these new dots were pulling the bottom line up.

On the main line, if there was a dot above it, the line moved up to touch the dots and then instantly fell. If there was no dot above, it remained static.

These dots looked kind of similar to the first graph, but the key difference was that after each up and fall, there was no change to the main line.

Glitch pointed his finger at the dots on the graph. "This path works in pulling development. Each of the dots on the graph is a high-grade creature that is born in the space village. Each time they are born, they will create a society around them that represents the top of the graph. But the moment these higher-grade creatures go extinct, the entire society around them will crumble."

Lark scratched his cheek and asked, "Boss, you said these points represent higher-grade creatures, but where will these creatures come from?"

Glitch pointed to himself and then at Lark. "It's our work and responsibility to create these higher-grade creatures from the subspecies."

He waved his hand, pointing toward the 10 sub-regions, and said in an indifferent tone, "As the rulers of the evolution path, think of them as 10 base ingredients. You need to use them to create higher forms of ingredients."

Lark's mouth dropped. He just looked up at his boss's face and then at the graph. He found it hard to accept this and said, "Boss, why are they ingredients, and how can we make these high-grade creatures?"

Glitch paused and then bent down and scribbled 10 small circles. He pointed to them. "You know the start of different paths is a little different from one another. In the path of study, they usually know one complete source method like the other paths, but many creatures also have a few hints of these undiscovered methods. That's the benefit of the path of study."

Lark paused for a moment, then nodded his head. "Yeah, boss. I know there are negligible differences between the starting creatures in each space village, depending on the path. It's just that now I understand what that difference is. What about the second path, boss?"

Glitch smiled. "Well, in the path of hierarchy, you get many creatures that have talent for a wide variety of stuff. This helps their progress."

He paused for a moment to let Lark digest the information. "Finally, in the path of evolution, there is a higher number of different subspecies. Even though the ten of them are normal-grade creatures, they are genetically different from one another."

"Genetically?" Lark tilted his head.
