Failure

The masked guy froze at that.

Glitch smiled, knowing that mentioning the large number was the same as him telling them that he was a ruler.

The masked guy looked troubled as he looked around in the darkness.

Glitch sensed this guy was talking with someone. It was stubble, but he saw the mask moving up and down. He glanced around but failed to sense anyone around or behind him.

He squinted at the mask. This mask might be a magic item that allows long-distance conversation.

Whatever the case, he was sure something was going on here. Well, it was perfect for him. At least they were not ignoring him.

After a few minutes of sitting in silence, the masked guy said, "Sir, you need to show some proof."

Glitch frowned a little. 'I already gave them so many hints. Are they still not sure, or do they choose to act ignorant?' He rubbed his forehead and decided to give them more concrete proof. "Sure, no problem, but I need to see the money."

The masked guy was about to say something, but Glitch cut him off and added, "I need to see if you guys are even capable of giving this much money."

The masked guy stared at him. He did not back down, and he looked straight into his eyes.

After staring at him for a few seconds, the masked guy pulled out a small pouch and dropped three shiny silver coins on the table.

Tak tak tak!

Not wasting a second, Glitch picked up one silver coin. He acted like he was checking the coin, glanced at the masked person, and right before that guy's eyes, he placed the silver coin in his inventory.

The moment the coin disappeared from his hand, two people rushed out of the darkness toward him.

The masked guy stood up and shouted, "Stop!"

Two daggers stopped right before his eyes.

Glitch gulped as he realized his little stunt could lead to his first death. Still not showing any nervousness, he ignored the assassin next to him and pointed at his face. "That's one silver for the appearance."

Silence filled the room. The masked guy plopped back in his seat and waved his hand at assassins.

Both of them disappeared back into the darkness.

This time, the masked guy spoke in a thick tone, "You sure have guts, lad."

From the thick voice, it could be some middle-aged man behind the mask, but there was a chance even this voice was fake.

Glitch shook his head. He stopped guessing the masked person's identity and pointed to the two silver coins. "Do I need to show you more proof?"

The masked man tapped his finger on the table, and then he pulled out one more coin. The guy pushed all three coins toward him. "No, sir, I will believe in your words. You can give me the information."

This time, Glitch did not move for the coins but first recited the ten combinations he remembered.

He recited the combinations two more times in random order to show them they were not fake.

After the third time, the masked guy bowed to him. "It's a pleasure working with you, sir."

This time, Glitch tapped on the table and pushed all three coins back toward the masked guy.

The masked guy tilted his head. "Is there any information you want, sir?"

Glitch saw that they were showing no interest in him. Well, it was not surprising, as there were thousands of rulers just like him scattered across the planet, and most of them would not survive more than six months of game time.

Still, he did not want to leave just like that, so he asked, "Is there a way for us to have a connection?"

The masked guy didn't even think for a second and got up from his chair and said, "Nice working with you, sir. If you need something, you can visit us anytime. As for your offer, we always welcome you to trade."

He understood the underlying meaning. It was an indifferent rejection. He was a little surprised at how they were not even willing to give him any chances.

Glitch clicked his tongue in disappointment and placed all three coins in his inventory. There were many things he wanted to know, but as these guys were not willing to work with him, he would not give them more information.

He smiled at the masked man. "Well, thank you for the money. If I ever need some information, I will come to you guys." With that, he walked out of the dark room.

Masked frowned as he saw Glitch backing away. He did not know which organization this guy belonged to, but he did not like Glitch's attitude.

The two assassins once again appeared next to him. One of them said in a mocking tone, "Does that guy ask for the corporation? Haha, the foolish guy did not even know his limit. Did nobody tell him about us?"

The masked person shook his head. "I don't think so."

The assassin stopped laughing. "Wait, he is not part of them? Should I follow him?"

The second assassin added, "If he was not with them, then how did he find out about us?"

The masked guy shook his head. "Maybe those guys did not tell him everything. Well, whatever, let me send his information to the main branch; they will do as they see fit."

Both assassins nodded their heads and hid back in the darkness.

Glitch walked out of the bar. He was a little disappointed, but it was part of the process that each ruler had to go through.

For rulers, if their species members were soldiers, then the space village was like a recruitment camp where they trained their species.

In the same way, the game world was massive war fields where war would happen for a long time. No one could win such a long war with the strength of their soldiers alone. They needed to have multiple resources and extra support from members who could make weapons for the soldiers, members who could cook, a place where soldiers could rest, and more.

Now there were three ways a ruler could get those things in the game world.
