chapter eighteen

"I had forgotten about Daniel...

     After finishing all their tasks the unit headed back to their main room, Austin and Eva complained all the way back because their mission had been cancelled "stop winning idiots! No one wants to hear it!" Alex said as he smacked Austin on the back of his head "yeah, you two have been bitching the whole day, we get it!" Abbey backed Alex up "it's so unfair that they cancelled our mission because of paperwork!" Eva complained, Abbey scolded her all the way back to the main room where everyone finally calmed down and started preparing dinner "what do yall want for dinner?!" Eva asked loudly "if it's made by you, I prefer to starve" Austin commented, Eva death stared at him before looking back at the rest of the unit "some beak beans sound nice" Kylie suggested "yeah sure, I'll help you Eva" Alex agreed with Kylie "nah! Why can't I cook alone?!" Eva protested, with some bickering both of them finished the beak beans and the unit started eating "so what are you guys wearing for the ceremony?" Kylie asked the unit "I'm going in a white dress" Abbey said happily "and I'm going in a suit!" Eva announced, "are you two going as a couple?" Austin asked curiously "nah, we just thought it would be funny for us to like we're going to a wedding" Eva explained "well I'm going in a white suit" Alex said going back to the original topic "same as Eva" Austin answered "I'm going in a blue dress" Kylie answered her own question "I'm going in a black dress" code 001 answered seriously "black?" Austin questioned "if Eva is going in a suit I think it's fine for code 001 to wear black" Alex commented "now to the spicy part, dates!" Eva said, everyone looked at each other but no one said a word "well I'm going with Abbey" Eva tried breaking the silence "I'm going with Kylie," Austin said "I still haven't invited someone" Alex admitted, "same as me" code 001 said "well I'm not surprised about code 001, but you Alex? You're such a babe" Eva commented "thanks Eva, but your opinion is not really the best" Alex said with a nervous chuckle "you should ask Jessica, from Unit.4" Austin suggested "isn't she like... Noah's sister" Abbey pointed out "yeah he's a real dick" Eva commented "for once, can you not swear" Kylie pleaded "fuck yeah" Eva agreed sarcastically, Kylie sighed with defeat and Austin patted her on the back "yeah... maybe Jessica isn't such a bad choice, what do you think code 001?" Alex asked the girl that had been zoning out for most of the conversation "uh- I'm confused" code 001 said a bit shaken up "do you think Alex should ask Jessica out to the ceremony?" Eva repeated the question "Noah's sister? Do as you please, I don't understand this relationship thing that everyone is obsessed about" code 001 answered not very impressed "one day you will find someone you like code 001" Kylie assured the girl "I'm not sure about that, but if you say so" code 001 said, the unit laughed a bit before everyone got back to their paperwork.

     The members of the unit decided to head to their rooms, the boys were talking to each other on Austin's bed while they played a card game "so Jessica?" Austin asked Alex "no, I think her brother wouldn't be very happy with me" Alex explained "you should ignore that asshole! He's always picking fights with you" Austin commented "yeah... I guess so" Alex agreed doubtfully "I wonder what those girls are up to, they're causing a racket," Austin said annoyed. In the girls room Eva and Abbey were goofing around with the guitar they had hidden "how did you two even get that? The project doesn't allow such things in the rooms?" code 001 asked "I smuggled it in, through the vents" Eva explained as she pointed to the vent on the ceiling "that vent can't fit a guitar and a person, how did you bring it to the room" Kylie pointed out "we attached a rope to a drone then tied it around the guitar" Abbey answered "all that for a guitar?" code 001 questioned "it's a weird story actually, a radom girl that was being dragged around the home by some guards dropped a paper with a drawing of a guitar and an address so we decided to get it for her" Abbey said while smiling at the unique memory "we never saw her again tho, she didn't look very well so we assumed she died soon after that day" Eva commented a bit sad "she didn't die, she's alive" code 001 assured "thanks code 001, but you don't need to comfort us" Abbey commented gently "if that's what you think, I'm going to bed" code 001 said seriously "code 001 is right, we should turn off lights" Kylie pointed out "Eva wanna hang out with me on the bunk?" Abbey asked the girl that was about to turn off the light switch "yeah sure" Eva accepted, Abbey hid the guitar under the floorboards before climbing up to her bed and Eva followed.

   Code 001 was in a dark room, nothing to be seen but suddenly a faint light appeared, she walked in it's direction, she heard a voice calling her and as she got closer the voice got louder "Coal, you mustn't do it" the voice said repeatedly "do what?!" she asked loudly "my dear, your plan... it's too soon, things are getting better... you mustn't" the voice pleaded "no! I will! I will save you! I just need to plan a bit more! Wait for me" code 001 begged "oh my dear Coal, you have time... all the time in the world" the voice said, the light that code 001 was seeing suddenly morphed into the outline of a girl the same height as code 001, the girl walked over to code 001 and offered her hand and code 001 was about to accept it.
