Games

Eyeing these cards hovering in the air I remembered that the boy said I could have three wishes.

Although the God of Fun and Games concept of wishes was different than my own where I could choose to make decisions.

I did agree that it was probably the best decision to do.

Because although I did pay attention to the video game scene sometimes and played a few of the more famous ones and some adventure type games.

I was rather far from them as my time was in my opinion well spent in adventuring the world.

And according to the God of Fun and Games namesake and how he said he liked my world's videogames for their creativity.

His abilities most likely revolved around the concept of fun, which mostly involved games.

It was the most probable choice to expect the cards in front of me called 'wishes' were his 'authority' of games.

Whether they were the physics from said video games or abilities in the more fantastical ones I really didn't know what to expect.

Hell I might get the powers from the rumors circulating the more sporty games.

So honestly I didn't know what to expect.

"So do I just pick three of these cards?"

"No actually"

"What"

Rummaging through space once again he grabbed a large fortune wheel and slammed it front of him.

"You actually need to spin the wheel, grab a card and..."

Rummaging through space he revealed a small ballot that when shook made a sound saying there were many things within it.

"Grab a ballot ball!"

Licking my lips as my literally dead heart seemed to metaphorically beat.

"So begin reincarnated soul!"

As the tension made from making a decision I might regret later or enjoy filled my mind.

Although it was that very tension that made me do incredibly heart racing things.

'Man I'm addicted to this feeling'

My hands hovered over the cards for a moment as my mind made a decision.

'What is in my left brain is never right and my right brain has nothing left so go middle! Where there is a little left that's right!'

Grabbing the middle card with my semi transparent left arm I spun the wheel of fortune with unreadable labels.

And with my right arm grabbed a random ball from the ballot box.

Holding my breath I waited... For absolutely nothing to happen as I awkwardly waited for the wheel of fortune to stop.

It seems I was to excited and put in to much force.

Awkwardly waiting with the ballot and card in my hand I thought I should look them over.

If not for the incredibly strange way that every time I flipped the card I always saw the back which changed patterns.

The ballot just had unreadable words which was slightly boring.

The God of Fun and games however seemed very focused on the ball and the card mouth slightly agape.

A sweat drop appeared on his head as things started to get complicated.

---

'Hmm... It seems I should've only given him one wish if I knew this was going to happen'

Eyes feeling complicated at how he felt his hard earned and saved divinity would be used incredibly quickly to fulfil the wish.

'Although this is fun in it's own way'

Grinning lightly as his eyes peered through the magic hiding the cards and words on the ballot from the man's sight.

The boy read what was on them and wondered how to apply them to the man.

'I wonder how you'll use this...'

---

Waiting for the wheel of fortune to finish was awkwardly agonizing but when it ended the wheel of fortune stopped its arrow onto a segment.

Which caused an eyebrow raised from the God of Fun and Games.

Who was playing cards against himself somehow.

"You got quite the good combination"

Waving his hands the segment revealed a screen.

Revealing a headless body with a flame with one eye burning on the stump.

Raising an eyebrow at the famous indie game that was one of the games I admired for their art I wondered what that meant.

"So... What do I do about the Beheaded?"

(Canon name from Dead Cells)

"Well you'll gain his powers of course"

"Ok... wait what?"

Snapping his fingers the image of the beheaded fragmented into a flurry of digital pixels and were sucked into my body.

My eyes lit up as almost instinctively I felt things change.

If before I had no body I now had one... Although the feeling in it was rather strange as I'm pretty sure I don't really have it.

The God of Games confirmed it.

"You don't really have a proper body as your previous one unfortunately was blown to bits and burned"

What the hell.

"But this is the type of body you'll receive from the Beheaded"

Playing on an old controller playing the Tetris theme song he continued.

"The powers you get from the beheaded is as follows"

"The ability of a homunculus, the usage of special runes, a pouch that will store any amount of currency of whatever world your dropped in"

"Whatever world I'm dropped in?"

Ignoring my words the God of Games continued.

"A health flask that you can upgrade through special means, the ability to use cells, the battle proficiency of the Beheaded"

"A bag for weapons, being able to use scrolls, and the ability to use cells to do... things"

Blinking at the sudden pause I looked at the God of Fun and Games after looking at my hands and felt their strength.

"And by things... what do you mean?"

"Well I'm adjusting a few things so that you can use your cells as the forge, mutation station and a few other stations aren't usable yet"

"..." Recalling things that were now resurfacing in my mind thanks to the boys words, since it had been a rather long time since I played the game.

"But basically these are the main things and I'll just transfer the rest of the knowledge to your mind, you should be able to understand.

I held my hand out as things started to surface into my mind, such as what these 'things' were.

Oh wow...

Grinning at the thought of using these to traverse to places not known before my grin fell as I saw no need to these.

Because besides using them to survive wherever I was and being immortal thanks to being a homunculus.

I really couldn't see the benefit in seeing the entire world and it's wonders.

Oh well.

I guess I'll just see the rest and make a decision based on them.

Dead cells is the name of the game if you are wondering.

And their are many more settings in the dead cell universe but I haven't gotten around to them yet such as the malaise.

But they should be explained in the next chapter.
