8 Recognition

Kol stood uphill, facing the sunrise.

At first, it was dark. Then the sun rose from the horizon and sunlight slowly crept its way uphill, to his position.

When the first rays of sunlight finally breaks through the cold foggy weather and finds its way to someone's skin, at that moment, experiencing the coldness of night and the warm embrace of morning sun at the same time gives them a feeling of relief and peace, making them want to just sit down in the comfortable silence and appreciate the beauty of life, and the magnanimity of mother nature.

But this was not what Kol was feeling. He didn't even feel cold anymore, or the warmth of sunlight.

His body was now too strong to feel any kind of weakness and discomfort, so he could no longer feel the true fulfilment, relief, or appreciation for the little things in life.

When someone dying of thirst in an endless dessert suddenly finds a body of water, at first it just seems like an another hallucination, too good to be true, but then after confirming the truth, they desperately rush at it with all their might while thanking the lord above for their salvation.

At that moment, when utter despair meets the sheer relief and liberation, that feeling is the real beauty of being a human being.

Kol looked down. He could no longer feel weak from anything, so he could no longer feel many things that made one human.

Kol knew that this was only the beginning. He wasn't going to stop here. Evolution is never-ending, and he would only get further and further away from what it meant to be a human being.

That was the choice he made and he had already accepted it, but he would still try his best to not forget how it FELT to be human. He wouldn't forget his roots and try to keep his heart still as human as possible.

Kol looked right at the rising sun, something that would burn his eyes had he still been human. Its beauty made him feel like he could simply stand there and appreciate it for all eternity. Its immensity made him feel small and insignificant.

Kol took a deep breath, and closed his eyes.

Suddenly, all the rocks and dirt lying on the ground around Kol's vicinity started to levitate in the air all by themselves.

When they rose around a meter from the ground, Kol's body slowly started to rise in the air.

This was the result of Bio-Electric aura, a bio-electric field that could be released from his body and helped him fly.

Kol opened his eyes to look up, and, "BOOM.!!", with a loud sonic boom, he shot off in the air. All the rocks and plants in his previous position were blown away by the impact.

Kol reached a certain height and flew towards a direction. After flying for a while at constant velocity, he accelerated once again.

"BOOM.!, BOOM.!!", "BOOM.!, BOOM.!!", leaving behind continuous, louder sonic booms, indicating the rise in velocity.

When an object passes through the air, it creates a series of pressure waves in front and behind itself.

These waves travel at the speed of sound and, as the speed of the object increases, the waves are compressed together, and eventually merge into a single shock wave, which travels at the speed of sound.

This happens when the object is at a critical speed known as Mach 1.

There is a rise in pressure at the head, and decreasing steadily to a negative pressure at the tail. followed by a sudden return to normal pressure after the object crosses that position. This "overpressure profile" is known as an N-wave because of its shape.

The "boom" is experienced when there is a sudden change in pressure; therefore, an N-wave causes two booms – one when the 'Boom' of initial pressure-rise from the head reaches an observer, and another when the 'Boom' of pressure returning to normal at the tail reaches an observer.

This leads to a distinctive "double boom" from a supersonic object.

When the object is changing direction, the pressure distribution changes into different form, with a characteristic 'U-wave' shape.

Anyway, what this means, is that the 'double booms' will be generated constantly as long as the object is supersonic.

After reaching a certain height, Kol kept on accelerating towards a direction.

A few minutes later, on a beach on Virginia coastline.

"BOOM.!, BOOM.!!", "BOOM.!, BOOM.!!", "BOOOM.!!!", Kol landed on the sandy beach with a loud boom, and stopped only after sliding a couple of metres.

Kol was in a good mood. The feeling of flying was exhilarating. He could never get enough of it.

After coming to a halt, he walked towards the Magic circles drawn here where seawater met the ground. One was for catching the various kinds of marine life, and the other for purifying sea water to collect sea salt.

After gaining his Kryptonian abilities, Kol exploited both his Magic and abilities to the fullest to make life easier and slightly more luxurious for both himself and his family.

"Bekah.! Put a bit more pressure on it.! Be sure to make it so it stays intact even after several millennia.",

"And engrave mine in bold.! It must look more dominant, just like me.!", Kol had his hands folded in his chest as he instructed Rebekah.

Currently, Kol, Rebekah and Nicklaus were in the caves underneath their village.

Nicklaus and Kol were watching Rebekah using a knife to engrave the names of their family members and their life stories in the stone wall.

This was Rebekah's idea, but when Kol heard of it, he decided tag along with her and Nicklaus because he knew the real significance of these engravings. They were meant to tell of their family's story a thousand years later.

He remembered this scene from the show.

"Be quiet, Kol.! I'm to have my concentration to complete this by nightfall.", Rebekah replied in a sarcastic tone.

They had been at it for two hours already, and it's almost midday.

"Bekah, let me have at it.!", Nicklaus interjected from the side.

"Ah.! For the last time, you boys need to keep quiet, lest I get distracted enough to slice off your fingers.", Rebekah was already annoyed by Kol's constantly instructions and boastfulness, and Nick's constant comments about being careful.

Nicklaus again interjected in a somewhat defeated tone, "Father will not like you handling the blade.!".

But this managed to irritate Rebekah enough to stop carving on the wall, "If I want to wield a blade, then I shall wield a blade.! Father need not know.", she spoke while turning around to face Nicklaus.

"He'll find out.! You know he always does.", Nicklaus replied back.

"That's because you always tell him.", Rebekah spoke in an accusing tone.

"I cannot help it.! He frightens me.", Nicklaus replied in an embarrassing tone, while not meeting her gaze.

"You know Nick, you'll never earn his recognition if you are to continue this act of cowardice.", This time, Kol interjected from the side.

At this comment, both Rebekah and Nicklaus looked at Kol. They knew that Kol had Mikael's recognition, while Finn was Esther's favourite.

Kol looked at their reactions and decided to explain, "Just think about it.! He's a Viking who only values strength. He wishes for his sons to be his comrades, not some handymen.!".

"If you wish for his recognition, Nick, then you must have the mentality of a warrior, not a traitor to your siblings.", Kol looked at Nicklaus as he spoke in a serious tone.

Kol had recently altered the spell on starling necklace, which was given to Nicklaus by Esther.

Now this necklace no longer made Nicklaus weak, but only made sure that he wouldn't be able to take somebody's life, and its effect wasn't much.

Unfortunately, wearing the necklace for most of his life still had a great impact on Nicklaus' mentality, and other than encouraging him in this manner, Kol had no cure for something like that.

"Speak for yourself, Kol.! Not everyone is a natural born savage like yourself.!", Rebekah interrupted before Nicklaus could answer.

"In fact, he frightens us all, Nick.!", she spoke as she walked towards Nicklaus while simultaneously giving Kol a meaningful glare.

When she reached in front of him, Rebekah looked at Nicklaus right in the eyes, as she spoke, "That is why we must stick together.! Always and forever.".

"Alright.! Alright.! You two stop being all mopey for once, and concentrate on the task at hand. I hope I don't have to explain to you of it's great, future, historical significance all over again.!", Kol completely ruined the sentimental mood as he interjected.

He was really eager to see it complete, like anyone in his unique situation would.

Kol knew that they would have to come here a few more times to update the story engraved on these walls, but he was patient enough to wait.

.

This was afternoon.

Inside a house, a middle aged woman was sitting in her chair, while sipping wine.

She just had a really bad dream, so she decided to spend her afternoon in this way, instead of getting the usual afternoon nap.

Suddenly, she felt someone touch her shoulders from behind.

She thought that it must be her niece wanting to give her a massage.

But she actually hated that little bi*ch.

Unfortunately, after both her parents died, the burden fell on the woman's shoulders to adopt that little harbinger of death.

And perhaps she wasn't wrong to think so either. After all, her sister died giving birth to her niece, and her sister's husband died in a war. Even the woman's only son had died the same way right after her niece joined their little family.

So the woman blamed her niece for all their deaths.

Unfortunately, she couldn't do anything about it because a boy from one of the prominent families in the village fancied that little bi*ch.

"Don't dare touch me, little bi*ch.! I donot want to be cursed.!", she scolded and jerked her shoulders with abhorrence.

But when she turned around to look, she found no one.

She was already on the edge because of the bad dream earlier, so this incident creeped her out.

Her glass was already empty and she needed a refill.

Good thing she didn't want to stay here anymore, so this was a good excuse.

"I'm not scared.", she told herself as walked over to the kitchen.

But just as she passed by one of the rooms, she thought she saw someone.

Once again, she thought it was her niece.

Remembering the incident from before, and that dream, she felt like taking it all out on her niece.

But when she turned around to look back in the room, she found no one.

The woman could not believe her eyes, this was too creepy to be real.

She went inside the room to check properly, but there was no one there.

Now she really felt scared.

She thought about just going out of the house and waiting for her husband to come back home.

She walked towards the kitchen in a hurried pace to put back the empty glass, so she could leave this house.

But this time when she turned a corner, she finally saw her.!

A woman dressed like a nun.

Her nails were unnaturally long, and dripping Blood.

One of her hands was holding a long chopping knife, while fingers of her other hand were moving eagerly.

Her face was painted white, with a hideous grin.

Blood was constantly dripping from the corners of her mouth, and the eyesockets that had no eyes, or eyelids.

"Hhikk.! Huh heee.!!", the woman's heart was gripped with fear. She forgot to even move, or scream.

She just stood there and stared at this abomination.

Even forgot to pray at this crucial moment.

Her heart was beating so fast that she was sweating buckets even in this cold winter. A few more seconds and she would be having an actual heart attack.

Suddenly, the nun stopped her hideous grinning, and slowly raised her hand to point the knife at the woman.

And as she raised her hand, her mouth also open.

There were no teeth inside, or tongue, just the Bloody Holes full of Blood, like the ones in her eyesockets.

Nun's body became jettery as she started to shake in excitement and, "Hee.! Hee.! Hee.!", "Hee.! Hee.!", "Hee.! Hee.!", started laughing creepily.

She took a step forward towards the woman. Her laughter getting louder and louder.

Fortunately, as soon as the nun took that step, it managed to wake that woman up from her shock.

"AAHHHHH.!!", the woman gave the scream of a lifetime as she ran for the door. She couldn't stay in this house anymore.

A few minutes after the woman had left.

Someone knocked on the door of that same house.

In reply, the beautiful, young, blonde girl who was that woman's niece, opened the door.

"Finally.! I thought that abominable beldam would never leave.!", the young man spoke as he entered the house and proceeded to hug the girl.

This was Kol. He had just scared off Astrid's aunt with a simple illusion spell, so that the whole house would be left for just the two of them.

Astrid didn't speak, she just jumped at Kol, her leg wrapped around his waist, as she kissed him deeply.

Kol felt her hot body against his own, as he kicked back to shut the door, and walked inside. He was already stiff down there.

To those people who think that Kol sometimes act childish.

Well, do you act like a know-it-all, all the time.!? Even with family.!? If so, then that's really sad.

Kol doesn't seek someone's recognition or respect because he already has that. He doesn't need someone's approval because he already knows who he is.

In fact, all he really needs, is a good laugh.
