As she faded off, a deafening roar followed the light almost waking her up.
A giant white wolf ran out of the Hamadryad tree quickly followed by a golden glint. It ran to the courtyard and roared. The entire castle trembled a giant white wolf roared.
The shadows closest to the temple burst apart.
Behind it, a golden knight took out a sword with blinding light and charged at the demons so fast she looked like a blur. The demons fell in waves as she darted into their folds.
The white wolf roared non-stop destroying smaller demons and physically tearing the stronger ones apart with his teeth and claws.
Whenever his paws left the ground to tear down a demon, air blades tore everything even houses down.
White flames followed them burning the life out of the demons.
The shadows turned and tried to run but another white wolf ran out of the tree. It's white coat whiter than snow and practically glowing like a light bulb. Looking at it, one would think that the moon missing in the pitch black sky was plucked out of the sky. It's soft white light turning the demons into dust.
It noticed the kids packed in the temple and stopped.
They were awake but balled up and silently crying. Not even daring to move.
For a second, the wolf was back in its memories. Back in that room. Watching that same kid crying in a closet surrounded by countless mutilated bodies.
For three days the child refused to leave that closet. No matter how she tried to coax her. She didn't move.
She had tried to feed her to no avail. She tried water but she refused to drink.
She remembered how thing the child was. Barely alive, but scared witless.
Her heart tore and her bushy tail spread into ten tails, and bolted out the temple.
As her tears hit the ground, they turned into fur-balls that glowed like moons in a moonless night.
She remembered how the child felt when she finally left the closet. Not that she wanted to but because she had taken her out of it after she fainted.
IVs for a week kept her alive but not entirely. Only after he came did she gain her childish luster.
Only after he came did she gain the vigor to eat.
But only for a week. Before she lost her.
She remembered the pain she endured from the day she died. The first person she tried to save alone didn't even live a month.
But she was just a wolf then.
She was powerless then.
Not now.
Not anymore.
"Rrroooooaaaar!" The mother of all roars ensued, tearing everything the entire castle apart and rebuilding it.
The demons tried to run but the fur-balls on the ground had turned into threads of white light that had bound them and when she roared in anger the storm that came out of her mouth tore them apart.
First, out of her mouth came a shock wave that bombarded them and cracked everything that was in front of her. Even the castle and the buildings in beyond them. Then came the wind full to the brim with air blades that tore everything that stood before her. The dust that rose was then taken by a flowing steam that moistened it making it stick to the everything.
The heatwave that came next solidified the thin layer of mud and cracked it. Even the skin below the mud layer lost its moisture. Then came a rainstorm of golden needles that pierced through everything. The bright green flames that followed the needles burnt everything that withstood the regal roar. The process repeated itself for three seconds almost a million times.
"Oh… !" Laurent, the first white wolf with two tails found himself cursing in every language he knew before his white fur turned into flames and he became ethereal.
Jasmine didn't fare any better. The first shock wave had blown her through wall but the following onslaught cracked her armor and before self repair could kick in, she was almost a puddle of coagulated blood. The only thing that saved her was the emerald shield that popped up out of the hilt of the sword once she lost grip of it.
"LAURENT!" She shouted for help but it wasn't Laurent who was roaring. It was the other wolf.
"Moss head! the people!" he growled as he ran with the waves to the dock where most of the demons were.
"sorry!" The ten tail said canceling her roar.
'Its okay.' Laurent started a mind link with Jasmine and the other white wolf. 'keep them alive and give us a boost. V, make lightning.'
'okay.' The golden knight's sword turned into a living bolt as she hurled it up.
'okay.' She pounded the ground with her paws that made the castle quake as her ten tails produced lightning that burst out of her and scouted the entire castle. The fur balls conducted the lightning and amplified it.
The lighting joined the Golden knights Zeus spell that cracked the dark clouds above into eight pillars of lightning and fried the demons. Laurent redirected the other pillars with his tails through his claws to the demon that stood over Lyon's body that now resembled a dried jerky. He shot bolts out of his claws to it, frying it.
Except that plan didn't work out.
It did fry most of the demons but the other turned to ashes that the demon that mummified Lyon absorbed and turned into a Cerberus, the hell hound.
The demon, thought it was hit before it became Cerberus, didn't die or get paralyzed. It looked at them with blazing red eyes. Or rather three set of red eyes.
'Oh shit.' Jasmine said as she saw the five meter tall giant of a wolf in front of Laurent at the dork. 'that's… Cerberus.'
'A Cerberus, but its not the real thing.' Laurent said stepping back. A cantrip of energy left Laurent's foot and went underground
'But packs the punch.' the white wolf said stepping back too.
'Cyraon, what's the plan?'
'Cyraon is here?' Laurent and the white wolf asked.
'aren't you…' Jasmine blinked as she looked at the mountain spirit. 'I thought you were Cyraon.'
'no, But if I find him I'm going to skin that old bastard alive.'
'Ladies, later, now, we have a problem.' Laurent would have loved to chart but a hell hound on Earth meant way too many disasters that he wasn't intending to face.
'How do we solve it?'
Laurent and Diana sighed as Laurent reverted to his physical body and slowly stepped back as the hell hound growled at him.
'Did you find it?'
'Yeah.' Laurent sighed one more time as he sized up the hell hound that was almost twice his size. 'but you are not going to like were it is.' Laurent showed them the pendant around Carey's neck and the magical formation glowing on her forehead.
'I definitely don't like it. Plan?'
'I hope you don't think the pendant and a botched magical formation can stop that thing.'
'i/he wasn't thinking like that. But me like your plan.' the two wolves spoke at the same time both mentally smiling in a creepy way that sent shivers down Jasmine's spine. Talk about sync.
They started planning a way to take the wolf down like it was Sunday lunch without any details. That scared Jasmine and made her a bit jealous. For the past two years under Jade's mentor-ship, she had given up her first name to use her second. Then spent a year training by herself and fighting monsters alone. But seeing the two of them plan while Laurent played with the hell hound making it chase him in a circle.
'Jasmine, Carey is the center of the healing spell, The Hamadryad the power source, when I say go, send a bolt to both of them and come here.' Laurent told her as he showed her the small magic formation around Lyon and the bigger one around the hell hound that moved with it.
As she deciphered the magic formations she realized that the formation around Lyon collected energy from around him, while his sword acted almost like an immortal body array, that kept him alive at while but didn't have enough energ
"GO!"
