Chapter 33: Why?

Recap:

The man, though, didn't care for her thoughts and merry-looked at her face before grabbing her costume on her shoulder.

"The boys were right, though you are a looker. Jonny: I'm going to go for the first."

A slight nod, and he reached for the clothing, ruffling its state as his grip increased, making his intentions clear. Get rid of the cloth that was in his way.

Suijin had to bear witness to all of this; his mind was in turmoil, he wasn't weak, he'd defeated these guys before, so why was he just sitting here?

Why did he end up in this situation, 'Because I got distracted' is a classic rookie mistake, and his mistake is showing its reparations.

The weight on his back only got heavier as his assailant expected Suijin to retaliate, and he was correct.

If it was him from a month ago, maybe even before, he'd have cowered away, becoming too stuck in the how and why and forgetting the now.

But this him was different, once again laminating the need to increase training as his trigger was becoming an even bigger problem.

Suijin looked around to see if there was anything he could use. He desperately searched for an opportunity to right his wrongs.

Suijin's eyes scanned around looking for anything he could use to get out of this situation, and low and behold, just what he needed was in front of him.

Suijin bulged his muscles, twitching and struggling, making the hands holding him loose for a second.

"Wha–STAY DOWN!"

But the moron had already made the mistake, he provided an opportunity, something Suijin capitalized on.

A rock deeply rooted in the ground lay in front of Suijin, so shuffling his body like a worm, Suijin used the rock as a standpoint and pressed his trigger with the rock.

His training could be seen through his actions as he changed the nozzle without his hands, making its setting ultra-thin from its more blunt form before.

So a thin shot came from his nozzle and pierced the man who was about to get Mina in his clutch's hands, leaving a small, gaping hole in its wake.

"ARGH!"

He fell back on his bum and clutched his hand while glaring at Suijin, completely forgetting about Mina.

"Danniel, USE IT!"

"YES, you've messed up now, Brat. Jonny wanted to save these things, but now I can use them. Get ready and be grateful for us to use Trigger on you!"

With that, the fatter one stabbed himself with a needle before grinning like a madman and pressing down on the trigger.

The green vile injected itself into his bloodstream, and the effects were immediate. His muscles bulged, incomparable to Suijins', as his entire body surged. He got larger, only a bit shorter than Mount Lady but as buff as All Might.

"HAHAHA, POWER LIKE NEVER BEFORE!!!!"

With that, his rampage started.

Suijin looked to the left and jumped forward, dodging a huge rock that just narrowly missed the boy and turn him into meat paste.

Looking Suijin also saw another Vial of liquid on the ground below him.

'That liquid boosts their quirks, this guy should have a permanent augmentation of his muscles and hands, enlarging them-'

Suijin slid to the ground, missing a huge hand trying to swipe at him.

'That guy's quirk should have simply strengthened him, giving him an increase in weight capacity than before.'

Suijin now stood at the edge of the mountain with the entire facility behind him. In front were two villains who'd completely forgotten about Mina, who was burning the ropes binding her.

'Their eyes, did they lose their sanity? And they said, Trigger right…A few years ago, in one of the other districts, there were reports of mass quirk outbreaks, apparently, they were forced outbreaks caused by a new drug, Trigger. Maybe this is a slightly improved version.'

Shaking his head Suijin focused, he could think about the why later, but right now he had to focus.

Turning to the right Suijin blasted a rock, obscuring the telekinetic man's vision and forcing him to overextend himself to deal with the rubble.

Suijin then turned to the big man who was running at him.

'Thank you, Midorya.'

*Flashback*

"How to deal with it?"

"Y-Yeah, in my notebook, I write down observations of the quirks I interact with along with what I think should be done when trying to deal with them."

"What's your most recent entry."

"Mount Lady."

*Flashback End*

'Glad we sat together for a brief moment in the mall.'

Running to him, Suijin thought over what they conversed about.

'First thing to notice is that they are slow but usually act like they didn't enlarge, meaning a lot of gigantified people will try to deal with situations as if they were normal people.'

Suijin ran right through the giant's legs, just missing the hands that bent down to grab him.

'Next, they aren't used to sudden changes in size, so their increased durability will also increase their sensitivity to pain.'

Suijin changed his nozzle automatically again, adjusting for a blunt shot, and then shot the man's knees, bringing them down.

'Their slowness will make them more susceptible to attacks; in reality, they're a huge target that not even the worst shooter can miss.'

"HUH!"

Suijin ignored the giant's shouts and moved his head to face the ground before jumping slightly and spraying it, propelling himself into the air.

'As dad taught me, a good jab to the chin can rattle the brain, shutting it down and knocking them out, Now I'm improvising,'

Suijin once again prepared a shot, this time, however, it would be a more widespread one. Accounting for the increase in surface area, Suijin's nozzle opened more, allowing for a wider spread of liquid to come out.

Preparing most of his 'reserves', Suijin prepared himself to end this two-way fight.

'If he wasn't a villain, I'd pity him.'

Spraying the bullet, Suijin saw instant success as the collision dimmed the light in the man's eyes and sent him to slumberland.

Unfortunately, Suijin was in the air, and his accuracy was off, so some of the "liquid" ended up in his opponent's mouth.

Half-retching sounds

'-He'll taste that later.'

Allowing himself to turn Upsidown, Suijin looked at his other adversary. He'd cleared out all of the rubble and was glaring at the boy.

He stretched his hand out to try and control Suijin, but failed when Suijin's hands twitched.

'Is his concentration so bad that the slightest interruption of me moving without his control is messing him up?' Suijin didn't know if he was right, but if he was, he kind of felt pity for the man.

Still, Suijin sent a few blunt shots to deter the man, and as he focused on getting rid of those, Suijin began his descent but also enacted the final part of his plan.

'Your quirk isn't that powerful, and it is rather predictable, so you need to focus on deception if you want to defeat enemies at long range.' Thanking his teacher for those words silently, Suijin looked to see if his plan had worked.

The man was destroying and moving the blunt shots so they didn't injure him, so he had no time to react when a continuous shot of water and "reserves" attached to a beam hit him dead in the chest.

Collapsing Suijin ran over after landing and breaking his fall with another shot. He made a quick punch to the jaw and ended the man's comeback with him slumbered upon the rough ground.

He looked over at Mina's state—her tattered clothes, the shoe that ended up misplaced. His anger once again surfaced—more than he expected to feel—but somehow it felt right.

Looking at the man under his feat, Suijin sprayed a total of three more blunt shots at the man while reasoning,

'Since his quirk was boosted, maybe his body was too, for a preemptive measure, I should pack a little more punch to keep them nocked out cold.'

With that reasoning, Suijin did the same for the other criminal and took a look at his deshelled face. His cheeks were red, and his hair had fallen out, though it was unknown whether it was due to Suijin or the drug they took.

Looking down, Suijin thought that it was right. For a villain who tried to do unspeakable actions to end up like this,

'In fact, I'm lenient; if I was like Bakugo, he could have ended up more-'

"AHHHHHHHHHHH."

His thoughts were halted by a screech.

Quickly looking over, Suijin saw the person he just saved with a hand over her mouth and a tear in her eyes, looking around at all of the carnage.

Blood stained the rocks, many tattered clothes lay on the ground, and the two bodies were brutalized by the person in front of her.

He looked into her eyes, reading their expressions.

A drop of anger, a cup full of happiness, and a gallon of fear.

'Why is she afraid, The bad guys were all defeated.'

But a moment of thought and looking at where her eyes focused like a deer in headlights told him everything.

She wasn't afraid of the villains, she was afraid of him.

*Click-Clank*

Suijin's footsteps could be heard as the teenage boy dashed off the mountain, not before shooting a shot into the air and piercing the roof, leaving glass falling close to their location to inform people nearby as to where she was.

His feelings of discomfort were maximized, he wanted to explain, the clothes were from the group that wanted to **** her.

Most of the blood was from the villain against whom he fought, it was unavoidable.

'But were the body's states necessary?'

He wanted to answer with a "yes" to explain that the drug made them more resistant and that it was a precautionary measure.

But his mouth didn't; instead, his legs chose for him. For him to run,

'It hurts.'

He wasn't a stranger to being a disappointment; many have placed their expectations on him only to be disappointed. He's let many down before.

But recalling her expression, somehow she's afraid of him, a feeling he's received from some discriminatory people.

It just felt thousands of times worse.

'Why'

Why was she afraid of him? Why did he run? Why didn't he explain? Why didn't she ask? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶? W̶h̶y̶?
