chapter 4: Ecentric Prodigal Cousin

"Your writing has improved," Keiko noded. She had red long hair that went halfway down her back and sky blue eyes.

Keiko Ryu, my cousin and tutor. Though I find it far fetched to call her a cousin we share an ancestor several generations back the amount of dna we share is too minimal to call her cousins but eh is what it is. Regardless of the she's apart of my family, and unlike me a true prodigy.

You see since before reincarnation I was a 16 years old, I have intelligence that isnt of a 4 years old causing everyone to mistake me as some prodigy. The girl infront of me is the real deal. She's only 8 years old and has intelligence that far surpasses mine though I have 16 years on her. Kinda embarrassing.

Anyways even though i have the 16 years of memories from my past life I never studied Japanese back then, wich is why my writing is my weakest academic subject.

"Only thanks to you," I replied shaking my head.

To that keiko shook her head." Well let's end your lesson here for today." She said bringing her hands together.

"Huh? So early?" I asked, normally my lesson are longer, it hasn't even been half an hour this time.

"Yeah…" she trailed on her gaze lingering on," it's been a while since we've played together! I even found this old game from before the era before quirks!!!"

She brought out from her a bag a disk case.

'No fucking way…' I thought to myself. The case had a destinct style to it one that I couldn't forget even if I tried. Written on it was : God of war ragnarok.

Makes sense considering this is essentially the earth from my past life just a few centuries in the future and with quirks.

"where did you find that from?" I asked genuinely curious.

"Hehe. I found it when dad took me to America it was in this store that sold antique stuff," she replied beening with happiness.

To have something I vividly remember playing be called an antique is weird….

"We're idiots…" keiko muttered, to wich I nodded in agreement.

We were both so happy to play gow ragnarok. Me because it was one of my favourite games from my past life, keiko because she views me as a little brother and like to spend time with me. However we forgot one important thing….. we don't have the right console to play it on.

"I'd say your more of an idiot though," I smirked, " your the one who brought the game, u should've brought the right console aswell~" I teased.

"Hey!!" She protested, cheeks red with embarrassment, "forgive me that I was too excited to play the game with my little brother that I forgot to buy the console!"

"Yeah yeah" I waved her off, " what should we do now?"

"Mmmh" she looked around, " Your rooms filthy, let's clean it up before your mum sees."

I don't know how to feel about a 8 years old telling me my room dirty….

"You clean, I cannot be bothered," I sat on my bed and pushed the work on her. Just like the good old days in my past life were I would make my younger siblings do all my work. Heh.

"Lazy~" she sang teasingly. She began too clean regardless.

The door shot opened a red haired man with a small goatee on his chin appeared. Keiko's father.

"Keiko-," he began, but stopped when he saw me, " Ah Tatsu nice to see you again."

"Uncle." I nodded in acknowledgment. Why's he acting surprised to see me, this is my room.

"Father." Keiko started, " I didn't know you were here."

"Yeah uhh, Hiashi wanted to see me about something." He smiled, " anyways he wants to speak to you."

"Oh, alright," she nodded, " see you soon Tatsu."

With that they both walked out the room, presumably heading to the living room.

<3rd person POV>

"Bahahahaha," Hiashi laughed aloud, "why do you looks so mad?"

He was sat in his living room .Across from him on the opostie sofa his (albeit very far) cousin sat with his daughter.

"I'm not." She shook her head. She was.

She didn't show it as she was trying to remain respectful but she was very mad/upset; First her plan to spend time with her brother was ruined by a slight error (one she doesn't want to admit she made) and secondly time that could be spent with her brother is being used up by Hiashi Ryu, someone she doesn't like all to well for.

Why she dislikes him? Even she doesn't know, she just does. She used to adore him but as she grew she changed.

"What did you want me for?" She asked.

"Ah yes that," Hiashi straightened up his postures, "your father tells me you've decided to go down the quirk research and support gear root instead of the hero root."

'He did?' She thought looking towards him.

"Yes I have ." She nodded, it was the truth after all.

"I see." Hiashi nodded his head. " You were so adamant on becoming a hero just to change your mind?"

He didn't really care what path she chose, afterall to him this was a decision she had to make on her own it's her life at the end of the day. However, her father, haruto, had practically begged him to talk to her about it. He was the kind of man who believed that being a hero was a superior career to others.

"So. What does it matter?" She asked, she was getting more and more frustrated. She was the type of person who preferred the straightforward aproach. She wanted him to get to the point already.

"Ahahaha, nothing," he put his hand up in mock surrender, " just that your father finds it hard to believe it you changed your mind so easily. You mind telling us why you did?"

"For Tatsu." She started, " he's quirkless but he wants to be a hero. So I want to help him by making support gear."

"That's why?" Haruto started, "he's fine in his own, there's other in the family that could provide him the gear."

"No it's not fine!" She yelled out, "he's quirkless dad!! QUIRKLESS IF TRYS TO BECOME HERO HE'LL DIE."

She was visibly upsets her face red.

"Even so," Hiashi said, "he can still become a hero, you don't have to change your aspirations just because of him."

"NO, I DONT TUST ANYWONE ELSE TO MAKE GEAR THAT CAN HELP HIM," she voided her distrust, " if this's alll you wanted to talk about then we're finished."

She ran out the room. Leaving it in an awkward silence.

"Sorry Hiashi," Haruto apologised on his daughters behalf.

"Bah, it's fine," he waved it off. "She may be a prodigy but she's still a child can't blame her for being emotional."

"Though I'm suprised she would care for Tatsu this much to change her goals for him," Hiashi said, " but considering how this all started it makes sense."

"Yh...." Haruto trailed on a sad expression on his face.

Hiashi looked at him and shook his head, 'I shouldn't have brought it up'

Roughly 4 years ago

"I can't wait to see my little brother!," a younger keiko exclamed. Visible excitement on her face.

Haruto looked at his daughter with a smile on his face, " you know uncle Hiashi wife is also due today?"

"*gasp*" she looked shocked, " Does that mean I'm getting two brothers !?"

"That's...not how it works," her father shook his head.

"Well that's how it works, now ," walking up to them Hiashi wore a smile.

"Really!!" Keiko had stars in her eyes.

"Yep" Hiashi said emphfasing the p. Only to get a strained look from Haruto.

"Come on, Hiashi." The soon to be father of 2 said, " don't encourage her."

Sitting down next to them the bulky man shook his head dismissively, "she's a child of course she's gonna end up viewing him as a brother, the same thing happened with us when we were younger."

"…..Fair point." Haruto acknowledged. He remembered the past. How despite being so distantly related they (and all the other in their generation) were raised to see each other as brothers and sisters.

"Hey! I'm not a child." The child protested.

"Ah prodigies, always so combative." Hiashi sang, " sure your a not a child." His eyes rolled.

Before anything else could happen a doctor can out of the room infront of them. At this sight both Father and Daughter stood up excitedly, their faces lighting up expecting good news.

"Docto-," AsHaruto began to speak he stopped. His faces morphed into a blank stare as he saw the doctor's face.

"I-," The doctor began trying to find the right word, "I'm sorry. Their were….complications both the mother and child …. Didn't make it."

Silence just silence.

Hiashi wore a solem look, closing his eyes and lowing his head slightly saying a silent prayer. On the other Harutos face morphed into despair; his eyes wide, mouth a gape, vein popping out all over his face.

And little keiko…..no expression whatsoever ever a blank face, no readable emotions.

Haruto despair quickly turned into anger, " WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN COMPLICATIONS." his arms flew toward the doctor's collar.

"Haruto," Hiashi caught his arm, "calm yourself." His eyes motiond towards keiko.

Haruto getting the message quickly went on his knees and embraced his daughter. "I-it's okay." He said to his daughter.(even he himself didn't believe those words)

"What complications," Hiashi asked.

"The child," he began. " he was an early bloomer his quirk awakened right after his birth. A destructive fire type quirk. An incredibly powerful one I-it burned both the mother and the child itself."

"That's not all," The doctor continued, " it burnt them entirely leaving no remains."

Hiashi closed his eyes. A day that should be joyous for him has tuned into a tragedy, his son was born not too long ago, roughly 1 hours ago. It was a house's day but now…

"Nothing?." Keiko looked at the doctor. Who nodded.

"I-it's, i-ts okay right." She started a tears falling down he face, I still have my other little brother, right!."

My little brother….. I'll make sure to protect him.
