Chapter 13

Back to Eliza:

My alarm woke me for class the next morning. Today I wasn't late for once and even managed to grab some breakfast before I left. We were doing more training today against each other. Hitoshi slipped in while Eraserhead was explaining it and he didn't even bat an eye. When I was paired up with Hitoshi he still didn't say anything.

"What did you do to get on Eraserhead's good side?" I asked him while we fought

"He's my mentor since he thinks I have potential. Why?'

"Well he se-" I was cut off as I felt Hitoshi's power take over my mind

Walk out of bounds a very compelling voice said in my head and I started to obey. I walked closer and closer to the edge of our small battlefield towards the bench. I needed to fight the spell and focused hard breaking free of it. I pretended to still be mind controlled before grabbing hold of Hitoshi's mind. I made him sit down on the bench and released him from my control.

"Come on! I almost had you."

"I broke free around halfway here. I was pretending but you do have potential. Eraserhead was right to mentor you."

"If I was allowed to use my capture scarf on the battlefield you would not have gotten away but Aiz- Eraserhead won't let me keep it yet."

I nodded and started watching Neito fight Katsuki. He was obviously mad at him and Neito was laughing maniacally as he dogged every explosion sent his way. He appeared to have grabbed Denki's power as they were fighting near each other and had started hitting Katsuki with lightning bolts. After a little while Neito took down Katsuki and came to sit next to us.

"See that! I'm way better than a class 1-A student!"

"Neito there's no more class 1-A and 1-B ok. Stop obsessing over it. Great job defeating Katsuki."

"Yeah well, they thought he was more fit for this school than us with his stupid Bakusquad. That's why he got in before us. Obviously, I'm more fit."

Hitoshi sighed but didn't argue further. I chose to watch Denki's fight and saw he was up against Nico. She had caused a small hail storm above his head and the little pellets were pouring down on him. He was shivering while trying to hit her with lightning bolts unsuccessfully. Each time he hit her she absorbed the shock and made it hail even harder.

"Who's that Denki's fighting?" Asked Neito

"Nico. Hero name Dark Storm." I answered "We're roommates. He has no chance against her every time he uses his power she absorbs it."

"He needs to learn to not rely on his power." A voice said behind us I turned to find Eraserhead standing there "I purposely put them up against each other. Even Neito here relies on Denki's power."

As we watched he stared at Denki deactivating his power. He seemed surprised for a second but realized what had happened.

Eraserhead held out his arm to Neito "Keep him from using his power."

Neito nodded and touched his arm lightly, training his eyes on Denki. Eraserhead walked away and Denki ran forward to tackle Nico. She had to get rid of the cloud so it wouldn't hail on her as well. He jumped onto her back and she fell to the ground. She was better trained than him however and so flipped over pinning him below her. He struggled and tried to get up but eventually gave in. Once their fight was over Nico went to sit with Jenny while Denki came over to us.

"Where's Eraserhead?" He demanded

"He left." Hitoshi shrugged "Calm down Denki. He was just trying to help you in real combat."

"I was going to defeat her eventually. I just had to hit her harder."

"No, you weren't" I interfered "She has way more training than you and the more you hit her the more energy she had. The more energy she had the more it hailed. Eventually, you would've lost."

"He's not even out here anymore. How was he stopping my powers?" He glanced at Neito who was smiling guilty "Nei!"

"He told me to! Plus I need to practice my power too. Bakugo wasn't the best person to train against."

"Leave him alone. I trained against him all the time."

Denki was mad, clearly thinking his fight wasn't fair. He tried to charge Neito who flipped him around pinning him to a wall. Neito kissed him and he visibly relaxed, pushing himself against the wall. They broke apart as Eraserhead rang the bell and announced we were going up against new partners. Neito brushed against my arm as he walked over to his station. I ended up fighting Katsuki who was clearly still enraged about his fight with Neito. As he threw explosions at me I decided to get it over with quickly. I picked him up with my powers and threw him lightly across the room. I made sure he hit the ground just hard enough he wouldn't get back up and was the first to finish fighting. I noticed Denki ended up against Mina. She repeatedly shot acid at him as he tried to dodge. Eventually, she hit him squarely in the chest and, being the prankster she is, burned a hole in his shirt. She used this distraction and pinned him to the ground getting her a win. Denki went to talk to Eraserhead and soon came to sit next to me. I noticed him fiddling with a necklace that had three white gems on it. When I looked closer I noticed Mina's acid had burned a small hole on the edge of one of the gems. He noticed me looking and quickly dropped it.

"It's one of three." He said "I gave the other two to Toshi and Neito. We never take them off except when we're sleeping."

I nodded "Sometimes Mina's power can get a little out of hand. Like what she did to your shirt."

"We actually went to school together before at UA. I used to be a part of the Bakusquad but they got in last year. I did too, so did Nei but Hitoshi didn't and we would've felt bad leaving him behind after all his hard work."

"Does Hitoshi know?"

"He would've insisted we came so we didn't tell him."

I nodded unsure how to continue the conversation. Instead, I watched Neito fighting up against Jenny. She had dumped water on his head a few times and he was soaked. She was currently trying to completely submerge him but he was moving away too quickly. He ran past her and I noticed him tap her arm. The next time she covered him in water he was able to breathe it in as he had stolen her powers. She however outsmarted him and froze the water around him. She released him soon after but took the win. Neito walked over to me and Denki.

"Hey guys." He said, "What happened to your shirt Denki?"

"Mina." He said, "Eraserhead won't let me change so I'm stuck with this until lunch."

"That sucks. That girl is powerful. She tricked me into getting myself frozen. I could've beat her if I had known she could freeze water too."

I opened my mouth to argue but Denki elbowed me and I stopped. Glancing around for HItoshi I found him fighting Eijiro Kirishima, another member of the Bakusquad. He had sharpened both his hands into spears and was trying to stab Hitoshi with them. Hitoshi was talking and Kiri was getting madder and madder until eventually he responded to something Hitoshi said and found himself under his power. He lay on the ground and allowed Hitoshi to pin him while his eyes were glowing. The light faded and he struggled to get up. Hitoshi won the fight and came over kissing each of his boyfriends and nodding to me. That's when Eraserhead rang the bell and called us back inside. We sat through another day of lessons without anything important. At lunch, I sat with Jenny and Nico like usual. Since they were still nervous around some people Nina and Noah had taken to sitting with us and today they brought over another friend of theirs named Eri. Although being only a year younger than them she had an adorable baby face and long bluish-white hair. She had a small horn on one side of her head which Nina told me not to ask about. Apparently, it was linked to her power in some way and she had been tortured in her past because of it. Denki walked past our table on his way to sit with his friends and spotted me.

"Hey Eliza. Hi Eri." He smiled and left

"He's cute" Jenny teased me

"He's just a friend and already has two boyfriends. I don't think he wants to date me too."

"Two boyfriends?" Asked Nico

"Yeah, Hitoshi, Neito, and Denki are all dating each other. You got a problem?"

"No, I was just surprised."

"Toshi told dad they're the best thing that ever happened to him!" Eri butted in

"What do you mean dad?"

"Well, Aiza-"

Hitoshi walked past interrupting her "Call him Eraserhead in public Eri"

"Eraserhead's you dad?" I asked

"Yeah, he adopted me a few years ago while I was at UA. Soon after he adopted this little troublemaker."

"That's why he goes so easy on you."

"I didn't want to tell you because most people make fun of me for that too."

"I would love to get even the slightest chance to be on his good side." Jenny sighed

"Hurry up Hitoshi!" Neito yelled and Hitoshi waved to me

"Bye Eliza. See you later little monster!" he said as he left

"Stop calling me that!" Eri yelled after him

We ate the rest of our lunch and I headed back to my apartment for a quick break before class. Then I headed back to Eraserhead's class hoping maybe we could do something fun.

"I had you all training earlier but now we're going to have a tournament with one of the other classes." Eraserhead said once class had started "Here are the rules. One, anything to do with your power is fair game as long as you don't seriously injure or kill another student. Two, you may try to pin each other if one of you succeeds and the other doesn't get up within the count of ten you win the match. Three, the winner gets bragging rights but may not make other students feel bad about themselves. Now split off into groups of two."

We broke apart and I ended up with one of the new students from the group I had found in the Garden of Thought. She was distracted easily and I took control of her mind, securing me a win. The next round I ended up against Hanta, another member of the Bakusquad. His power really had no use to him as I made him use his tape to stick himself to the ground. Once I beat him I ended up against Hitoshi. Our fight lasted longer than my other two but I still ended up on top after distracting him and flinging him against the wall. My final fight was against Neito. He had clearly stolen Denki's power at some point as lighting bolts were flying towards me.

"Hey, Violet Skull." He said, "You sure you're not dating Heatwave?"

I knew he was trying to get me to talk to him as he probably also had Hitoshi's power. He knew what he was doing so I ignored him.

"I have multiple photos of you two kissing."

I glanced up to find he had transformed into Heatwave and was smiling at me.

"Why won't you kiss me?" he asked

That was my breaking point.

"Leave me alone!" I yelled and felt him take control of my mind

Walk towards Neito, a voice said in my mind, same as when Hitoshi had mind-controlled me before. I fought the voice but I was too late. Neito lunged at me and hit my arm, copying my power for his own. I was forced forward against my will as Neito used my own power against me then I was flung hard against the wall and knocked unconscious.
