Mother

Outside the orphanage, there was a beautiful woman that looked in her mid twenties besides the headmistress. The headmistress was currently telling the woman about the kids at the orphanage and how energetic they were.

Nana gestured the woman to enter the orphanage with her and look at the kids. The woman entered the orphanage and saw all of the kids currently eating lunch, everyone seemed to be eating except one special child.

The woman was curious as to why he wasn't eating so she asked Nana about it, "Hey Nana, why is that child not eating? He has a full tray of food in front of him."

"Don't worry about him Saki, he's anorexic and has trouble eating his food, he had a rough time before entering the orphanage" Nana replied.

"He doesn't look skinny though, is he improving in terms of eating?" Saki asked, not fully acknowledging the fact that the kid had a rough past.

"I really don't have a clue on why he isn't thinning down even though he doesn't eat but at least he seems to be healthy."

"Yeah… what's his name by the way."

"His name is Oki, he's only been here for 15 days but he seems to get along with everyone. He's also not a troublemaker and is often very quiet, he only talks to Masako and Tadao for some reason, they're the two kids over there besides him."

"I've decided, I want to adopt him" Saki said with no hesitation.

"Are you sure about this? You still haven't looked at the other kids, there's no problem with you choosing him but can you take care of him and make sure that he's staying healthy with his condition?" Nana asked, still questioning Saki's decision.

"How hard could it be, I'll just treat him normally and help him if he has any problems."

"If you think that you'll be able to take care of him then it's fine, I'll later call him to my office so you can talk to about wanting to adopt him, you can also sign the papers there."

"Then it's settled, let's go to your office and wait till lunch is over."

After both women took their leave for the office, Oki gave his tray to Tadao as usual and commented on the visitor today. "Tadao, who was that woman? Do you know her? She seemed to be looking over here.

"I don't know her but it's probably someone who wants to adopt someone here, and how did you even notice? You were looking at the table the whole time."

"I just saw her from the corner of my eye"

"Whatever, food is sacred, there's no talking whenever you eat food, remember that, Oki." Tadao said dramatically before resuming to devour his food.

"What are you even saying? If food is that sacred then stop talking and just eat"

Lunch eventually ended after a while and it was now the time for class. Whilst Oki was walking with Tadao and Masako towards class, he felt someone tug his shirt from behind. Oki looked behind him and saw a nervous Masako pointing towards the stairs.

Oki directed his gaze towards the stairs and there he saw the headmistress gesturing him to come to her office. Oki looked at both of his friends before saying, "I'll be back" then, he headed towards Nana.

When Oki arrived at Nana's side, he questioned her why she called him there. "Someone wants to meet you" She responded. Oki just lifted an eyebrow at this and followed her without asking any more questions.

When Oki entered in the office he saw a beautiful with short black hair and a medium sized scar on her neck. "Hello Oki, my name is Saki, and I'm going to be your mom" Saki said enthusiastically.

Oki was shocked when hearing this, it hadn't even been half a month and now he was being adopted. Oki couldn't help but think about how Tadao had been in this place for more than 8 years and he still hasn't been adopted.

Nana looked at Oki who wasn't saying anything, and was worried about his reaction towards the news. "She'll take care of you, Oki, I know her and you can definitely trust her to be an excellent mother for you" Nana said.

Seeing that he had no choice in this matter Oki relented his worries and just sighed, "Please take care of me" Oki said whilst he looked at Saki.

Oki then thought of something, 'I can eat a full man before not having to eat anything for about two weeks before I lose control. I currently ate 1 more person yesterday and have gone without eating one day, that means that I'll lose control in another two weeks if I don't eat anything.

He didn't want to admit it but his brain worked on overdrive to make this calculations on his young brain, even when he had his fingers assisting him. "What are you doing?" Saki asked seeing Oki's strange behaviour.

"I was counting how many hours until it was nighttime." Oki lied, he was getting better at saying small lies but if he tried to lie about something complicated he would definitely have a hard time doing it.

"I see, well… pack your stuff little Oki, you're going to your new house at the end of the day, make sure to be ready when Saki comes to pick you up." Oki nodded at this and left the office before heading towards the classroom to bid his farewells to Tadao and Masako.

When Oki got there the lesson had already started and he was going to get extra work later in the day, not like Oki was going to do it… The class ended in about an hour and a half, when that happened, Masako and Tadao rushed to question Oki.

"Are you in trouble?" Masako softly asked.

"What happened?" Tadao energetically asked.

"I'm getting adopted" Oki simply replied to both of their questions.

"What!?" Both Masako and Tadao screamed at the same time.

"You're hurting my ears, please calm down, it's not like we'll not see each other again, just think that it won't be as often… y'all are going to be just fine without me"

"You've only been here for 15 days and now you're getting adopted, it doesn't make sense" Tadao responded a little bit sadly whilst Masako was just looking at the floor hugging her two toys.

"Let's go to the playground for now, we can't be here for too long" Oki said, "Fine" Tadao said before following him to the playground, before Oki left the room, he looked behind him as he had noticed something.

Seeing as Masako wasn't moving Oki sighed and approached her. "Masako, let's go" he said while offering his hand to her. Masako uttered, "hm" before taking the hand and following Oki to the playground.

The day passed rapidly and in the blink of an eye it was already time for Oki to depart. He had his toy fox plushie at hand and was currently approaching Saki to leave the orphanage.

Before Oki had the chance to get close to her, he felt someone hug him from behind, it was Masako who was currently crying uncontrollably. Oki's heart was hurting when seeing this but he crouched down at her eye level and started speaking.

"Don't cry, we'll definitely meet in the future and I'll send you letters every week so you don't feel lonely, you also have Tadao there with you so it's going to be okay."

Tadao, who was behind Masako, looked at this interaction in silence. When Masako finally calmed down, he said his goodbyes. Oki said his goodbyes one last time and then proceeded to leave with Saki.

Whilst Oki was in the car, he thought of something that was bound to happen if he had stayed more time at the orphanage. 'No heroes appeared when I ate that bad guy, but they were going to catch me if I continued with this for a few months weren't they?' Oki's expression turned grim.

"Are you ready to see your new home?" Saki asked.

Oki's expression instantly changed to a calm one when hearing this, "Yeah." He said.
