46 Chapter 46: Made For Each Other
Outside the window the sun is hanging low in the sky, casting a beautiful golden glow on the clouds and the tops of the trees visible...
From a clean and comfortable bed, this is this scene that greets Hitomi as she slowly opens her eyes with a groan...
"Hey you... You're finally awake..." From behind her
Hitomi slowly turns her aching head to look at who spoke... Only to see Toru laid in the bed next to her's and smiling softly at her...
"T-Toru...? W-wait are you hurt!?" She goes to sit up but pain assaults her head when she does and she ends up flopping back down with another groan "Ow..."
Toru gets out of bed and quickly goes to Hitomi's bedside, on the side of the golden shining window "No no no...! Not at all...! I uh... I kinda lied and said I got burned in the fire zone... So I could stay with you... Nobody could see I was lying so..."
'She... Wanted to stay with me...?' She Huffs and holds her head "So... Where are we...?"
"Recovery Girls office... She's stepped out for a bit because you were stable..." She holds Hitomi's hand... "You... You feel stable right...?"
"Yeah..." She squeezes her hand... "Yeah I feel stable... But my head is killing me..."
"You pushed yourself too far with that Nomu thing... Recovery Girl's working theory is the more vitality someone has the more effort you'd need to exert to turn them to stone... Especially if they resist..." She grips Hitomi's hand with both of her own...
"That's what I thought too..." She sighs "How the hell am I gonna train my Quirk...? Request captured Villians or something...?"
It's only then that Hitomi notices Toru's hands are trembling...
"Toru...?" She looks at her and sees tears sliding down her cheeks "Hey what's wrong?"
"What do you mean what's wrong...!? Hitomi I thought you were gonna die...! I was so scared...! I could barely breathe... You were so lifeless...!" She drops her face onto the bed and cries "I thought I was gonna loose you...!"
Hitomi is in shock... And the feeling of guilt is starting to form in her stomach... "T-Toru I... I'm sorry I..."
"No! N-no..." Toru shakes her head and looks back up at her with a sniff... "N-no... No... You saved All Might from the monster... You don't need to apologise..."
"Well I feel like a do..." She sighs "At least we got the Villians..." She strokes a few of her snakes "That makes it all worth it..."
"W-well... About that..." Toru averts her gaze...
"About what...?" She frowns and sits up a bit
Toru sighs "The Villains... They... Managed to escape..."
"WHAT!?!" she yelps in pain! "Ow!!"
"Hitomi you gotta try and stay calm..." She squeezes her hand again
"Right... Right..." She sighs as she holds her head with her free hand... "So what happened...?"
Toru sighs too... "Well..."
She proceeds to tell Hitomi the whole story from her perspective... During the story Hitomi has slowly proped herself up on her pillows crossed her legs, a bowl of mixed nuts in her lap that she's started feeding her snakes, who are all alive, To thank them for their hard work during the fights
Meanwhile Toru has migrated from a bedside chair to onto the bed itself with her own legs crossed, sat in front of Hitomi "And that's how the Villians escaped..." Toru finishes telling the story with a glum expression
"Well..." Hitomi feeds a peanut to one of her snakes "Fuck..."
Toru snorts "Fuck indeed... I'm just glad they didn't try and get revenge on you while you were unconscious..."
"Nah... You woulda protected me I'm sure" she smiles and holds out the nut bowl "Nut?"
Toru sits in silence... Thinking while looking down into her own lap...
"Toru? Toruuuuu?" She rattles the bowl in front of her "Miss Hagakureeee?"
"H-Hitomi...? Can I ask you something...?" She gulps and doesn't look at Hitomi...
"Of course you can...?" She sets the bowl down to the side and pays attention
"You... Y-you were really brave today... You put yourself in harm's way multiple times... Fought many Villians... Drove the truck... And you didn't stop fighting until you defeated Nomu..." She sighs shakily... "How can... How can I be brave...? Like you..."
She frowns... "But Toru... You ARE brave... You showed it multiple times today..."
"I-I am...? I did...?" She looks at Hitomi hopefully... But also confusedly
"Yeah! You knocked out that shirtless psycho, you went off and found the fire truck and..." She smiles softly "You saved me from Shigaraki... I vaguely remember him running at me..." She leans forward and pulls her into a gentle hug... "Thank you for saving my life Toru... You're my Hero..."
Toru returns the hug and trembles slightly "I... I wanna be brave... One more time..."
"Oh yeah...?" She gently strokes Toru's back "What kind of brave...?"
"H-Hitomi...?" She grips Hitomi's shoulders in the hug "I... I..." She growls at herself in frustration 'Why is this so hard...!? Just do it you coward! C'mon!' she grips Hitomi even tighter to try and control her trembling
Hitomi frowns in concern "Toru what's wro-"
"Hitomi I like you!!" Once she's got it out she gasps and pants like she's just finished a marathon and droops in Hitomi's arms
Hitomi's body fully freezes as if she's been turned to stone! 'W-w-what did she just say...? Sh-she said like...? What kind of like!? M-must be as a friend right...? Y-yeah...! No way I'd be lucky enough for my crush to fall for me too!' she chuckles nervously "L-l-like a f-friend right...?"
Toru leans back so they're face to face... "N-no you dummy... I mean like... This..." Her face ignites with a blush as she slowly leans in and claims Hitomi's lips in a nervous, desperate and clumsy kiss
Hitomi freezes once again... But the actions of Toru quickly thaw her out and she can't help but begin to return the kiss... Equally as nervous and clumsy as the invisible girl... But with a spark of excitement quickly growing in her chest from the fact that this is indeed happening
With Hitomi also engaging the kiss Toru's nervousness and desperation dissolve swiftly into relief... And while of course still being clumsy due to inexperience her confidence soars and she slowly wraps her arms around the other girl... 'She likes me... She really does like me...!'
Hitomi, following Toru's actions, also wraps her arms around her partner... The only difference is she slowly brings one of her hands up and runs it through Toru's stylishly messy hair... 'So soft... Her lips... Her hair... Her skin...'
Toru, without breaking the kiss, slowly shuffles forward until she's sat fully in Hitomi's lap... She wraps her legs around Hitomi's waist to make herself comfier...
Hitomi's snakes all come forward and rub themselves against Toru... Hissing softly... Tickling her with their tongues
Toru can't help but giggle through the kiss... 'They like me too... That's good...'
Toru's giggling along with the snake's actions sets Hitomi giggling too... And it's not long before both girls have devolved into a silly giggling mess in each others embrace
"I... Really wasn't expecting this..." Hitomi squeezes Toru against her "Are you sure this is what you want...? That I am what you want...? Why me...?"
"Well... To be honest what first drew me towards you was that you can see me... That pretty much guaranteed I'd stick close to you..." She gently cuddles Hitomi and rests her chin on the green girl's shoulder "But then... Well... You were just so cool... And smart... And kind... But you're also cute... You work hard... And you're SUPER pretty..." She's slowly gotten quieter out of embarrassment her last words nearly whispering
"Well... I find you SUPER pretty too Toru" Hitomi grins and the poor invisible girl squeaks in embarrassment "But You're also brave... And funny... And cute... Kind... And well... You tend to have a habit of ending up naked around me so that's a pretty big bonus in itself"
Toru hits her arm "Hitomiiiii!" She sulks "Meanie..."
"Also... You were nice to me... On that bus when we first met... When we were all supposed to be rivals... You were friendly... During a time in my life where new friends seemed truly impossible..." She smiles and gently strokes Toru's messy hair... "You're a good person Toru... And you'll make a wonderful Hero... And I'd be happy to be by your side along the way..."
"Hitomi... Y'know... You missed an aspect of me" She grins mischievously
"Oh I did, did I?" She shifts so Toru's leaning back and they're face to face again "What did I miss?"
"I like pranks and can be pretty mischievous!" She pulls and "evil" face "You're doomed"
"Mischievous? How so?" She tilts her head
"Ohhhh like this" she leans close and whispers in Hitomi's ear... "I think your eyes are stunningly beautiful..."
"My eyes...?" Hitomi gasps and touches her own face! Feeling no bandages or eye coverings of any kind and she's now realised her Petrifying eyes have been exposed this entire time! "Don't look!!" She covers her face! 'How could I not tell!? Was the glow from the sunset throwing me off because everything was orange!?'
"Pff! Pffffff!! Hahahaha!!" Toru falls off Hitomi's lap laughing! "Your eyes can't turn me to stone Hitomi! I figured that out back at the USJ!" She laughs! "Oh your face! That was amazing!"

"Th-they don't...?" She lets go of her face "How!?" Then she starts thinking about it... 'Wait... Toru is completely invisible to everyone... I can only see her as a normal person thanks to my highly advanced thermal imaging from my snakes... So... Technically... My normal eyes, the one's that turn people to stone, CAN'T see Toru because of her Quirk! So that means no direct eye contact! It's like...' "We're made for each other..." She meets Toru's gaze again
"M-made for each other!? That's an embarrassing thing to say!" Toru instantly gets embarrassed and hides her own face in her hands as she blushes
Hitomi wraps her in a tight hug... "Toru... You've become even more amazing in, Heh, my eyes... I'm so happy I met you... I know we've not known each other long but... Let's make it official"
Toru slowly takes her hands away from her blushing face "Official...?"
"Toru Hagakure... Will you do me the honour... Of becoming..."
'W-w-wait is she proposing right now...!?! Oh my god that's way too fast...!! What do I say...!?! What do I wanna say...!?!' she waves her hands "H-Hitomi wait!!"
"My girlfriend?" Hitomi finishes with a whicked grin
Toru blinks as the panic fades away "H-huh...?"
Hitomi shrugs "I can be mischievous too y'know"
"Guuuuh..." Toru flops backwards onto the bed "I hate you..."
"Hate you to sweetie" she can't help but start giggling "So! Wanna be my girlfriend?"
Toru smiles "Yes... A hundred times yes" she sits up and they once again share a kiss... This one much more comfortable than the last... One of many more to come in their new and hopefully happy relationship
