Chapter 13

Excerpt from Maester Yandel on the history of Westeros: Robert's Rebellion.

If there was a person that made himself a household name during the rebellion it was Aaron Snowstark 'The Demon Lord' as he was called by lords and peasants of the Reach that he plundered and reaved during his time.

As he was the only lord in the North with a fleet ready and functioning for war he took command of all maritime based wars.

He used the opportunity to further his own interests by raiding the Reach while most of their fighting men were at the Stormlands besieging castles. He was said to have killed every maester and raven at every keep when he began at Shields and a few other castles.

Famously said, 'Being a grey rat is dangerous work these days.' He killed them to stop information from reaching the Tyrells in time so he can continue.

Luckily he did not put any noble to sword when captured preferring to hold them hostage in the North at Moat Cailin.

After the initial raids he joined back up with the northern army to continue on foot after instructing his men to take the goods and gold back to his castle. With what he had collected the war was proving very lucrative.

With Eddard Stark's marriage coming up...

Aaron Pov

'The Demon Lord has finally arrived. Kicked some flowery knights up in the reach and made it in time for his liege lord's wedding.' said GreatJon with his booming voice which carried over the whole hall as I entered.

I smiled at the loud fucker. He's one of the most sincere men in the North and I really can't hate on him.

'I heard they were sieging Storm's End. I needed them to separate their forces and keep some tied to their lands incase they wanted to fuck around.'

This got alot of nods and approvals as the reach frankly has too many forces. With Robert being recently defeated and sent retreating by Randyl Tarly we need them not to be laser focused on us.

The festivities continued while Hoster, Ned and Jon Arryn were hammering out new deals for their marriage. After some hours their engagements were announced with Ned and Kat. With Jon and Lysa.

They were to be wed tomorrow. After that the next day we march to reinforce Robert at the Stony Shore.After a while I left the hall to organize the 3900 men I brought with me. The game of thrones is afoot and I intend to rise high. The prestige gained from this war will benefit me and my descendants in every way.

The fame would remove the stigma of bastard from my house. With the connection to House Dayne and Stark my children will be in a very good position for marriages and alliances.

Jon Connington Pov

Stony Sept

'Search this entire place for Robert Baratheon. Any man who brings him to me will receive 10000 gold dragons and a knoghthood for ending this rebellion!'

With that all the men went scurring about searching for him. Questioning the smallfolk, threats and more. But we have been here for hours where is he!

Should I just put this whole place to torch? With Robert gone there is no one to rally behind properly which will cause dissatisfaction within their camp.

Screams of terror were heard from all around from various places as I personally searched for Baratheon.

You know what fuck this! Lets fuck this place up we'll rebuild it later. With that I gave the order for the rest of the army (15000 strong) to approach.

Rumblings were being heard. Is that the rebels? How the fuck did out scouts not see them. Panic grips the place as smallfolk and septons are running in all directions in preparation for the battle that is coming.

I quickly retreat into the formation but just as I so I see Baratheon coming out of a brothel half dressed for battle with only a helm, boiled leather trousers and a steel plate breastplate and his warhammer.

Why did I not think to check a brothel of all places it should be the first place I should have gone,

The rebels came marching through giving me no choice but to meet them in the middle. As the two army clashed the battle turned to pure chaos.

Everyone stabbing at each other. From my position I ordered the archers to fire at the rebels. Hopefully one of them takes out Robert.

The battle raged on for hours with me eventually being drawn into the thick of it. Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon are cutting through my men like butter. There was another knight in all black armor cutting through with the rebels from the left flank.

The battle is lost. We've lost too many men on this we need ro regroup at our base in the Crownlands.

At that moment I see Denys Arryn charging at me with intent to kill. Probably desperate to make a name for himself so he can consolidate power later. We started engaging in battle but after a few blows and dodges I struk him down finally.

This is good. The death of the heir to the bale can cover up my loss.

With that I sound the retreat and all my men startrd making their way through and back to base.

I failed Rhaegar. I had to chance to end this whole rebellion early but I failed.

When I returned I sent ravens to the red keep to the kings landing speaking of the death to the Vale heir but our loss of the battle.

Little did I know at the time that this was the beginning of the end.

3rd Pov

The reaction all over the country of Westeros to what is now known as the Battle of the Bells was instant. What was expected to be putting down the rebellion was turned into a defeat of the royals.

This greatly reduced the prestige the royal family had accumulated and now everyone took this war very seriously. With tales of how Robert Baratheon came out of a brothel to smash the army with Ned Stark by his side made a great many songs.

People spoke of the prowess and viciousness of the Aaron Snowstark the Demon Lord who tore through the ranks of the royals helping to decimate the army forcing a retreat.

More minor lords and a few more Riverlords started throwing their lots in with the rebels.The king was said to be most wrought with Jon Connections and exiled him from Westeros even though he was hand of the king.

While all this was happening, a particular set of news was kept hidden never to see the light of day. Everyone thought the princess and her children were being kept hostage in Kings Landing but alas.

Princess Elia and her children had fled Westeros and no one knew where to find them. To keep the dornish support the king ordered that Doran Martell come to the red keep to see his sister.

Doran did not come. Their support did not waver as the news that his sister was not known at the time.

While all this was happening Rhaegar was no where to be found.
