CHAPTER 12: PIRATE GOBLINS 2

Noctis an almost everybody else went to bed immediately to get ready for the next day. Faye went to bed an hour later than everyone else for unknown reasons.

Noctis woke up in the morning to banging at his door. He fell out his bed as he tried to get up, he heard Dain yell "Come on Noctis! We need to start moving!"

Noctis yelled back "Alright..... Alright! I'm on my way!"

Noctis started to put his gear on and get ready. After a couple minutes he came out the door. He looked to see everyone but Faye in the hall. "Where's Faye?"

Dain pointed to her room "She is getting up as well. Both of you must have needed some sleep. Damn pointy ear bastards"

Noctis shrugged "Well we fought the griffins overnight. Must have made us more tired than we thought."

Ruri tilted her head "You two didn't sleep?"

Noctis shook his head "No, it took us awhile to get there so we attacked the griffins at night in their sleep. We then headed back to the city and made it by morning where we then came here to water town. We only slept that little bit on the carriage ride."

Krox nodded "I see is that partly the reason you suggested for us to sleep?"

Noctis nodded "Yeah, I figured it be a good idea for everyone to be at one hundred percent. However, the main reason as I'm sure Goblin Slayer would agree with is that goblins are inactive or at least sluggish in the morning."

Goblin Slayer simply nodded in agreement. He had a slight smile under his helmet that someone was paying attention to his goblin teachings. He actually started to like being in this group even if he does prefer still going solo.

They all heard a door open. They all turned to see Faye. She made eye contact with Noctis and blushed a bit. She then immediately turned her head Noctis was confused but she said "Let's get going. We need to help the city."

Goblin Slayer immediately started moving. The rest of the group followed. Noctis shrugged thinking 'Must be nothing.'

With that the group made it through the city until they found a sewer entrance near the edge. The plan was to start at the edge of the city and make their way to the center. By doing this they could take out a good number of goblins. Once they reached the center they would assess if they should continue or not.

The layout of the ruins was somewhat complicated. However as long as you followed where the stream was flowing you could make it to the center of the city.

They went down some stairs leading to water level in one of the water ways. When they reached the bottom of the stairs it led them to a sewer gate entrance. It was locked up.

Noctis looked down at the lock "Did one of you by chance bring a key."

Ruri ran up "The Sword Maiden gave me one. Give me one second to undo the lock."

Noctis backed off so Ruri could unlock it "Oh yeah what's the Sword Maidens name by the way?"

Goblin Slayer kept a neutral position and voice "Sword Maiden."

Noctis smirked under his mask "I love your confidence man but I'm sure she has an actual name."

Ruri nodded "It's Asteria."

Ruri unlocked the gate and they proceeded to walk through the underground sewer.

As they got deeper in Dain lit up some torches "Good thing I bought these in the city. It's darker down here then I thought it would be."

Faye sighed "If only there was something we could wear that made it easier to see no matter the light."

Noctis could feel Faye staring a hole into the back of his head "Yeah I imagine for scouts and marksman such as yourself that would be very useful."

Faye said in a high pitch sarcastic tone "Oh if only there was such an ability or item."

Noctis shrugged with a smirk under his mask "If only."

Noctis looked over to Krox "What about you Krox is it easy for you to see in the dark?"

Krox was walking behind Goblin Slayer and Dain. "I would not say easy. I do adjust faster than most others."

An hour later

Noctis was grabbing one of his throwing knives out of a goblins head. Dain sighed "That's the fifth group we have run into. These goblins number more than I thought they would."

Noctis nodded as he looked over the goblins "They have armor as well. At least it seems they are spread out with only six of them at max per group."

Noctis then asked, "You see that often Goblin Slayer?"

Goblin Slayer bent down an inspected the armor "No Goblin armor is usually cruder than this. Strange."

The whole group then started to hear a light tapping sound above them. They looked up and saw water droplets coming through the cracks of the roof.

Noctis looked up "Must be raining."

Faye looked up "Our torches are going to go out. Maybe we should head back."

Goblin Slayer took a knee and took off his satchel. From it he pulled out three lanterns. Noctis eyes went wide 'Does he have a storage space too? Or are these the perks of being the main character?'

Goblin Slayer handed them to Ruri and Dain, and he kept one for himself. He then lit all three up "Let's keep going."

A couple hours later

The group was on a bridge when suddenly Faye stopped.

Faye looked around "Do you guys hear that it sounds like rushing water."

Ruri was confused "We are above a stream of water on the bridge."

Faye nodded "I know but it feels as if something is coming at us."

Noctis looked to where Faye was looking, he saw a boat filled with Goblins an a captain who looked like a pirate.

Noctis took out his throwing knives "It's a group of goblins on a boat."

The Goblins came into view for everyone to see. All the goblins pulled back their arrows and began firing towards the group. Ruri stood in front of everyone yelling "Protection."

Then a great bright field came in front of them blocking the arrows. Noctis saw the captain of the ship and threw his throwing knife as hard as he could easily hitting his target. The goblin captain was immediately killed. The nice thing about the protection spell is that it only blocked the way the spell caster was facing so it was limited but it made it easier to shoot arrows or throw weapons back without fear of being hit.

Ruri then said, "I cannot hold this for much longer."

Dain looked to Goblin Slayer "What should we do?"

Goblin Slayer grabbed his sword and said, "Kill Goblins."

He then jumped down to the ship below. Krox followed after him. Faye started to fire arrows from the top. Ruri's protection slowly started to fade. Noctis stood next to the two to protect them just in case anything happened. Dain was off to the side using his magic to throw massive stones at the ship.

An arrow was heading towards Faye and Ruri was about to use her second protection spell. But Noctis covered her mouth. He then reached out his hand and grabbed the arrow as it was inches away from her eye. She then continued to fire arrows at the goblins.

Noctis turned to Ruri "No need to waste your protection spell. The fights almost over anyways."

Noctis turned to Faye "I'm glad you trust me to protect you, but you should at least attempt to move out of the way."

Faye fired another arrow "Why? You will protect me, right?"

Noctis just sighed as he started to throw more knives at the goblins "Yeah."

Dain yelled "Goblin Slayer, Krox get off the boat."

Noctis looked over and saw Dain throw a massive boulder about the same size as the boat towards them. Goblin Slayer and Krox jumped off to the side as the giant boulder destroyed the boat. Noctis, Faye, Dain and Ruri ran down the steps over by them.

Noctis looked at the goblins in the sewage stream as they flailed around. Goblin Slayer looked at Dain "That was rather effective. I should see if I can replicate that."

The group rolled their eyes and thought 'Always so interested in killing goblins.'

The group then saw a goblin almost seemingly fly up in the air. They group then watched as a giant white alligator at least three times the size of the boat they just destroyed catch the goblin in the air and swallow it whole.

Everyone in the group had their eyes widen and Goblin Slayer said, "That's not a goblin."
