Chapter 219: Someone is Acting Rogue!

In the treatment room, Oaks saw Skye, who was placed in a cold chamber. With his perception, Oaks could tell that this girl's life was in critical condition. If it weren't for the restorative potion partially replenishing her, her situation would be even worse.
"The bullet went through her stomach and penetrated the large and small intestines."

Coulson saw that Oaks was already using magic to assess Skye's condition and nodded.

The difference was that the Monolith of Life and Time seemed more inclined toward the connection between humans and nature. That's why Oaks could sense the natural aura from it and gain insights.
However, Skye's cells, or rather the fusion traces of Earth human and Kree genes, had pushed humans into an unknown "mutation" without any regard for consequences.
Now, this "mutation" in Skye's body seemed to lack a critical node and was in a dormant state. Once this key node was activated, the mutation would occur, and its direction would be uncontrollable, with irreversible consequences.
"Oaks, how is it?"
Seeing Oaks deep in thought with his eyes closed, Coulson became somewhat nervous.
"If surgical assistance is needed, there are advanced SHIELD physicians here who can help."
"No, it's not necessary."
Oaks shook his head.
"I'm considering the treatment plan, and it's already sufficient... This way, we won't need surgical assistance. Now, open this up, expose the wound, and in a few minutes, you'll see a healthy girl."
Coulson, Melinda, and Ward hurriedly approached and followed Oaks' instructions to open the cold chamber.
Oaks' hands emitted a radiant green light, and for a moment, everyone felt as if they were surrounded by a sea of flowers!
The healing flowers bloomed throughout the room, and Fitz and Simmons, who were looking at the images of Skye's wounds, were shocked to see the damaged and removed tissues inside her body regenerating at a visible speed!

Simmons muttered to herself and then looked at Coulson strangely.

Skye's internal organs were quite complex, so the recovery process was a bit slower. But this meticulous healing ensured that there would be no after-effects from this treatment.
As Oaks had said, a few minutes later, Skye's injuries were completely healed. Her lower abdomen showed no signs of injury, not even a trace of a scar.
Finally, in the relieved eyes of the agents, Skye opened her eyes.
"Wow, I had such a comfortable sleep."
She scratched her head in confusion.
"Uh... Is everyone here?"
"Skye, you finally—"
"Ah! There's a rogue!"
Before Ward and the others had a chance to greet her, they heard Skye let out a forceful scream and, while grabbing the blanket, kicked Oaks, who had just started to speak.
"Smack!"
Oaks caught her ankle and paid no attention to Skye's struggling and screaming. He looked at Coulson with a strange expression.
"...You've got some spirited people."
Before Skye could launch another attack, a sudden cluster of vines appeared and bound her.
The room fell into silence.
"Do you know?"
With his arms crossed, Oaks spoke in an admiring tone.
"I've grown up all these years, and it's the first time someone has called me a 'rogue,' especially right after I just saved that little girl's life."
"...At least this shows that she has recovered well, right?"
Coulson stepped forward with a wry smile and waved his hand in front of Skye, who was completely dazed by the entwining vines.
"Snap out of it. This is Dr. Oaks, an Avenger and a Druid. I invited him to save your life. You're wearing a patient gown, and you've been shot twice in the stomach. Who would dare act like a rogue towards you?"
"Haha... An Avenger..."
Skye's mind was certainly sharp, but perhaps she was still groggy from just waking up, causing her thoughts to be a bit scattered.

"Hmm, I'll come to collect my payment from your superiors and see how much you're worth."
Oaks looked at Coulson, who was scratching his head awkwardly, and raised an eyebrow.
"But it seems like someone else has arrived. Another SHIELD agent?"
Relieved, Coulson quickly signaled Ward, who was hesitating to approach Skye.
Ward was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained his composure. After glancing at Skye, he rushed out.
"Agent John Garrett, Level 8. My old partner."
Coulson let out a sigh and regained his smile.
"Skye, let's go together and appreciate his interrogation skills."
