The King’s Plea

It had been nearly an hour since Phup had left Mikax's room however he was showing no signs of getting impatient. He had decided to double-check and plan his future actions accordingly. One thing he did excel at compared to his brother was exacting revenge. If he had truly been summoned to another world as it appeared, then he had a massive debt to extract from his new 'king'.

The first thing Mikax did was make sure he was able to use his spells. Nothing fancy just some 1st tier water magic. The way his mana formed and responded was exactly like it was while in E2. Upon checking his mana pool the spell had drained the same measly amount as normal and it replenished at the same rate he knew. This meant he could probably destroy this entire city with a maximum 9th-tier spell.

The next thing Mikax had checked was his ability to open his storage pouches. He currently had 10 all-black pouches that seemed to absorb even the light that touched them. They were about 2 inches wide and deep and surrounded his belt like a certain masked crusader of the night. In these pouches, he carried everything he owned. This included some of his older weapons and armor from before acquiring his Universal tier equipment. If they hadn't left his weapons behind for him he would have resorted to these. Other things he stored in his pouches included food, drinks, scrolls, camping gear, and a plethora of other consumables and permanent items alike. Due to the high quality of his storage pouches, he was able to hold a near infinite amount of items that he could summon with a single thought.

After verifying that these two essential things to his survival were still functioning he had no worries about making it out of this castle and city alive. Even if the King himself was a god then Mikax was still confident in his ability to make it out.

"Since they seem to be taking their good old time I might as well take a nap, they summoned me here so they need me for something." Mikax reasoned as he laid back down in the bed. He put his hands behind his head and crossed his legs.

*clink*

A wave of frustration rolled over Mikax as the <Slave Bracelets> knocked into each other making him uncomfortable. He was fighting the urge to start channeling his favorite 9th-tier spell Frenzy of Hell.

If he cast this spell within a city it would easily wipe out everything within the city and more. The spell by itself wasn't overly powerful. It did however have a multiplication effect. The frenzy of Hell would begin with an eruption of hell flames in a circle around its caster lighting everyone and everything ablaze. Once on fire, it would burn until the caster was killed or the fire ran out of fuel. This wasn't the most frightening part. Its range only started at a 250-yard radius, however it would automatically erupt again at the location of the 666th person it had killed. Within a populated city, this would cause a massive domino effect that would wipe out an entire populace in minutes. The reason that this spell wasn't considered as overly powerful was the 666-second channeling time. It may not seem like much but no player anywhere in a city would allow the user to cast it. It also didn't differentiate between friend and foe. Lastly, it didn't care if you cast it or not. After the initial eruption, the caster had a 6.66-second grace period before they too were eligible to catch fire.

At the thought of using his favorite spell, Mikax began to calm down. He couldn't help but naturally relax knowing he wielded the power to control his outcome.

After another hour Mikax had finally heard the sound he was waiting for. He estimated that 10 guards and 1 other were approaching his room. The one of them who wasn't a guard he could safely guess was Phup. This honestly surprised him after how terrified she had been when leaving his room.

After they arrived at the door he heard the key enter the lock, yet it never made the clunking noise after it was turned.

*smack*

Mikax heard the clear sound of an armored hand slapping the fox kin with the sound of whimpering afterward. "If our guest has left his room I will personally skin you alive." The voice on the other side of the room whispered completely unaware of how good Mikax's hearing was. After that, the armored hand knocked on the door. Without waiting for any response it began to open.

"Well is his royal highness finally prepared to meet with me?" Mikax took the initiative to ask before rolling lazily off the bed. As he walked towards the door the guards instinctively backed away from the seemingly casual attitude of the man approaching them. The only one who didn't move was Phup herself. Mikax had intentionally made sure that his killing intent didn't radiate toward the fox kin. After hearing the exchange through the door earlier he had no reason to make her life any harder than it already was at present. "Go on Phup, lead the way." With that, he held her shoulders and turned her around before nudging her the way they had come from.

Without even thinking Phup had nodded her head and begun walking. Mikax followed close behind with all 10 armed guards escorting him from a safe distance. They couldn't understand why but it felt as if death was breathing down their necks since the door to the Hero's room had opened.

After traveling down several hallways they finally arrived at an extremely large pair of double doors. On either side were two more armed guards. Upon seeing Mikax's group arriving one guard from each side moved to the center and opened the door.

"Announcing to His Highness the presence of our summoned Hero!" One of the guards shouted in a completely ceremonial manner. This caused Mikax to chuckle some as he fought from breaking into a full laugh.

'Hero? Is that what they think I am? They must have wanted my brother for sure then. ' Mikax couldn't help but fight his desire to laugh. In E2 he was the one who carried out the dirty work the majority of the time. Not a hero. However, he put on his best smile and tried to look dignified.

As they entered the throne room a man clad in purple sat on a thrown slightly elevated from the rest of the room. He carried the air of a King. Looking down at everyone from over his nose. He had platinum blonde hair that was falling to his shoulders. A well-kept beard that gave him the vibe of someone who once upon a time was a great warrior. On each side of him stood his guards. If Mikax had been awake when he arrived he would recognize a certain old man in blue who had been directly responsible for his summoning. On the opposite side was a literal knight in shining armor. Mikax used his appraisal skill Legend's Glare as he approached the throne.

After reading these people's stats Mikax had to force himself to keep a straight face. 'No wonder these people felt so comfortable after putting multiple <Slave Bracelets> on me, they are all so weak. They probably can't even tell what level I am. This is going to be fun' As he finished glancing around the room he realized very quickly that the three men in front of him were by far the strongest people in the room. The average level of the other people present was around 75.

After arriving in front of the throne Phup had stopped and immediately dropped to one knee and bowed. Not feeling like revealing his true intent yet Mikax had done the same. This move surprised Phup as well as the three men who had been informed of his earlier outburst upon hearing of his situation.

Taking his cue King Jearr stood to address the court, "We welcome you good Hero, I am King Jearr the leader of the Azran Kingdom. I must apologize first for summoning you against your will. If my kingdom was not in such a precarious situation I never would have dreamed of it. Please, rise off of your knee and lift your head."

"As you wish your highness" Mikax looked up at him to see a polite smile on the mans face. Once he was again standing he introduced himself in an over embellished manor, "I am the Hero Mikax! The blade of the night, defender of all Misfits near and far! Bane of those who seek to oppress! Champion of the weak!" While shouting made up titles he continually pretended as if he was in a Shakespeare play. Turning this way and that pointing towards balconies that didn't exist to woo some fair maiden. After almost 3 minutes of continuous bullshit he finally stopped and looked at the King placing a hand over his chest and taking a deep bow, as he came up he made sure to flash his brightest smile to the three men.

The king and arch-mage by his side were clearly forcing their smile, while surprisingly the Guardian Knight was obviously amused at Mikax's antics.

"We welcome you Mikax to the world of Bedel. Hopefully, we can work together for the betterment of our race. To get right to the point we need help, more specifically we need a Hero like you to help us." The King continued his speech detailing some boring and cliche story of how the demon race has been getting stronger and would soon over run the Kingdoms of men. Mikax didn't care a single bit. There were a number of demons in The Misfit Toys. He had fought side by side with all types of races. He was truly a champion of equal rights.

"Excuse me, Sir Mikax? Are you okay?" This time the Arch-Mage Rammir was speaking.

"Sorry, I was just trying to process all of the information." Mikax lied, really he had stopped listening and had begun spacing out due to boredom.

"That is understandable with the situation that you have been put in. I'll ask again. Will you please help save my Kingdom?" King Jearr Pleaded.
