“He’s dead.” That was the last thing I heard before everything went black. The darkness is receding. I can feel a bright light on my face. I groan and stretch a bit. I’m lying on something soft, and I snuggle into it more. Since when is the grass this soft?

Quiet. I’m trying to rest.

KAI?! You’re back?!

Yeah, I’m here. Now shut up!

I pop my eyes open and see six eyes staring back at me. I blink a few times and slowly start to sit up. I’m back in my room, at the packhouse, in my bed. Jayden is sitting next to me while Melanie and Jax are watching me at the foot of the bed. “Um….why is everyone staring at me?”

“How do you feel, baby?” I turn to look at Jayden.

“I feel okay. Kai is back, so that is a plus.” Jayden reaches over and caresses my cheek. He opens his mouth to speak, but before he can, the door flies open, and a blur comes into the room and rushes into me. It pushes me back to the headboard, and I feel small arms wrap around my body.
