Chapter 6

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony of crowning the new alpha was in two days and preparation were ongoing . This was a period I was at my busiest from cleaning and sweeping to prepping the pack house . All these were being done as visitors and guests would be attending, both Alphas and Lunas of other packs would be attending.

It was during this time that I overheard Alpha Hunter having a discussion with his son about the chances of him having found his mate . I knew it was due to the celebration as it was to crown both Alpha and Luna.

I already knew the chances of him coming clean to the fact he had found his mate and it was me was next to none

Was during this. I overheard Zion’s parents having a discussion with him about the chances of him finding a mate. I knew it was because the ceremony couldn’t be done without him having a meeting. It was to crown both the alpha and the luna. I already knew there was no way he was going to ever say he found his meds and that I was his mate.

“No” He said with an air of finality.

“I have not yet found my mate despite waiting and I am ready to take Amelia as my chosen mate. I have come to love her and this arrangement would work out as her true mate was killed her pack’s raid.” He had already thought of it .

He had to know I was listening and heard everything he just explained . In that moment , I was hurt beyond measures

“When would you learn?!. When would you quench this fire burning in your heart for him?!! .. When would you put yourself first?!!. Just when?!.” I chastised myself as I didn’t have any answer to the burning questions .

I returned back to my duties with head bent low and my tail tucked between my legs.

Different high ranking officials in the werewolf community was going to be in attendance as that was the custom . For those who couldn’t make it , their Beta or Gamma was to stand in their steed. This included the Alpha and Luna of the most powerful and strongest Pack there was .

The Blood River Pack , known for their vast lands and ruthlessness of their leaders .

They were going to be in attendance with their son and the next Alpha of their pack .

Mirko Knox. , According to the rumors , he was as ruthless as they came. Ready and willing to do just about anything to protect the pack and it’s interest. It was said that he was at the age of twenty two and was past the age of finding a mate but had not been lucky enough yet. If the rumors were true then he was a very handsome man with a terrible temper. I shivered in pity for the girl lucky enough to be fated to him. I ended my chores and quickly returned back to my room for rest .

It was during night time, while I was sleeping, I had the feeling that someone was watching me. I got up with a fright only to find Zion in my little space of a bedroom.

He didn’t say anything but watch me and the more I looked at him, the more it was obvious that it wasn’t Zion per se. It was his wolf. I knew because red eyes had replaced his normal grey eyes and he just kept looking at me as if I was a masterpiece he just discovered.

I took the time to watch him as I didn’t know when I would get this chance again. We didn’t speak and after a while, I patted the little space next to me. He hesitated for a moment before rushing to lay down with me. I didn’t want to think of what I was doing and drifted off to sleep while enjoying his company.

I didn’t know when he left the bed and my room but I did notice when I awoke, that the space next to me was still warm so it couldn’t have been long since he left. I knew when next I saw him, that it was going to be a matter of argument so I did everything possible to avoid him and to my utmost surprise, he was avoiding talking to me.

The day of the celebration was finally here and with it came the painful beating of my heart. My mate, The one destined for me was going to claim another as his while I watched from the confines of my room.

I was not allowed to be present in the celebration as according to my father I had not earned that privilege yet. I was thankful as it spared me the chance to go through the ordeal of watching the whole scenario. From my room, I could hear the arrival of different ranks of Wolves from several packs.

Alphas and Lunas were being welcomed and in the place of those leaders who couldn’t be presented, their Betas and Gammas were present. With each arrival, my wolf was getting more and more anxious. The reason for this was unknown to me and even when I asked Libaye ,she had no response for me.

The loudest sound was belt and this signified the arrival of the Blood River pack, the strongest and largest pack in the whole of the werewolf community. At this point, my wolf was ready to take control and shift but I used the last of my strength to rein her in. I brought out the picture of my mom I had with me and imagined her here with me.

I didn’t know when I dozed off but when I awoke, the ceremony had begun and everyone was gathered at the training ground. Something told me to sneak over and watch what was happening from a safe distance and that was exactly what I did. I didn’t know it but that little bold rebellious step would change the course of my whole existence.
