Increased Memory

After John finished speaking, he promptly left to organize the individuals in the room to alert the two guards outside, making them more vigilant.

The sage helped Max find a suitable place. Max accepted the coffee Sonya handed him, took a sip, and then addressed Lorna. "I heard you and John were trying to persuade a Mutant to join your cause. Seems like it didn't go well."

Lorna replied with a hint of annoyance, "We were negotiating with a Mutant who can absorb and manipulate light, and he was assisting in smuggling drugs. Although we haven't reached an agreement yet, it shouldn't be a major issue."

"What about you?" Lorna inquired. "I've never heard of a mercenary not making money. Did you go into debt or something?"

"I fell in love with something and ended up owing two million instead of making money," Max explained. "If anyone gets injured, they can find me; it's definitely cheaper than going to the hospital."

"Medical equipment?" Lorna was surprised. "How did you manage to obtain it?"

For some Mutants, finding employment and making a living can be extremely challenging, let alone affording medical treatment. Lorna had considered acquiring medical equipment in the past, but it was difficult to come by without drawing attention from the Sentinel Services.

"What do you think of this place?" Jenifer Sage interrupted. "It's about a half-hour drive from here, and the surrounding environment is nice. The homeowner has gone to New York and arranged for a friend to oversee it. The price is only around 200,000 US dollars."

Max turned to inspect the place. It was indeed an appealing location, both in terms of its surroundings and floor area.

"Do you have the contact information?" Max inquired.

"Once you have the address, you can go directly there," Sage replied.

Max took the contact information and provided his own. "This is my contact information. Please reach out to me whenever you have business. Sonya, come with me; I'll make sure you get back safely without anyone noticing."

"Alright," Sonya agreed and prepared to accompany Max.

"Wait a moment!" Lorna shouted, tossing the car keys to Max. "Take the car."

Max accepted the keys and smiled at Lorna.

Leaving the base, Sonya escorted Max to the front of the car. Max had a feeling that someone was watching them, likely the two guards. With a smile, he waved his hand to create a large sliding door in front of the car. Max then stepped into the car.

The sudden appearance of the door left the two guards bewildered, but the real surprise came when the car suddenly drove through the door and disappeared.

After a while, the door closed on its own, and everything returned to normal.

The car was gone.

Max and Sonya continued their journey in the car within the different space, completely ignoring any obstacles that might be in their way. This experience was new and intriguing for Sonya.

Curious about her role in this task, Sonya asked, "What do I need to do?"

Max explained with a smile, "It's quite simple. Just implant a memory into that person's mind, instructing him to sell me the house and accept my installment payment."

Sonya nodded in understanding. "Got it."

In a mere fifteen minutes, they arrived at their destination. Max and Sonya stepped out of the car and entered an apartment.

Inside the living room, a middle-aged man appeared to be asleep.

Max turned to Sonya and said, "Your turn."

Sonya approached the man and softly sighed at him. In an instant, a cloud of pink smoke entered the man's brain.

After a short while, Sonya withdrew the pink smoke and informed Max, "All done."

Max instructed, "Wake him up."

The middle-aged man on the sofa stirred awake when Max called out. Seeing Max and Sonya, he seemed momentarily confused but then said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I forgot you were coming to pick up the key. The key is here. You can move in whenever you like. As for the other paperwork, I'll handle it and keep you informed. Just remember to make your payments on time."

Max assured him, "Don't worry." He accepted the key and gave Sonya a knowing smile.

Task accomplished.

Sonya's unique ability might not be suited for direct combat, but it was incredibly convenient for tasks like this.

After leaving the apartment, Max returned to the car, drove back to the Mutant underground base, and stopped outside.

He turned to Sonya and said, "I won't go inside for now. There are still many things to take care of. If you need my help, don't hesitate to call. I might require your assistance soon as well."

Sonya agreed, "Alright."

Even though she had become a part of the Mutant underground base, Max would always be a special presence in her eyes.
