Powers of the Wolverine
"Are you sure that you are prepared for this?" Sinister asked before picking up the diary that I gave him. "If your estimates are correct, then after injecting the serum in your body… the X-genes in your body should start adjusting themselves to extract only the necessary abilities from Wolverine's serum. And those abilities should also evolve as time goes on."
"That's what 'might' happen. I cannot guarantee it, but that's basically how my evolution works." I took the test tube containing the serum in my hand. "They won't evolve instantly… but as time goes on and I continue using them… They should grow stronger."
"Anyways, we need to start. It will take a few hours for your body to get used to it. And once you are done with this… we have to start working on the other project."
Ah, yes… My other project.
"Very well. Start the process." I said as I handed him the serum.
He nods and takes it before putting it inside a syringe. "Do I need to strap myself?" I asked.
He raised an eyebrow at the question. "You think you can stay still after taking the serum?"
That was a very good question, after all… I nearly screwed the process when I was training under Zheng Zu.
"No. I don't." False bravery only gets you killed… And I have zero intentions of dying at this point.
Essex chained me so that I don't cause much destruction when I go through the process.
"I will start now." He said as he pushed the syringe towards my neck. "The pain will kick in after six minutes."
He said before letting the needle enter my neck. It didn't hurt much but I knew that the pain was about to hit me in a few more minutes.
In all honesty, I am using the Wolverine serum just to cover up a few of my weaknesses and the partial immortality will prevent me from growing old before obtaining the Sentry serum.
After I master the sentry, this power will be pretty much useless.
"The modifications that you did should work… but why did you even bother with them?" He was curious.
"I do not want my bones coming out of my flesh. That screams painful on its own… So I chose sabertooth's attack ability which is his claws." He nods but asks another question.
"The wolverine's senses were extremely sharp but you had them toned down and instead increased the quality of the healing factor… why?"
"Because I hate pain and I wanted to have a regeneration which was even better than him." This made him frown but he didn't ask again.
But in reality, the only reason I did that was because of the fact that my senses were already sharpened equal to the Wolverine… if not sharper than him. The acupunctures have increased my senses to the point that even the most sensitive animals will envy them.
"I see." He said and smiled. "Good Luck."
"What do- *Aggh!*" Damn it! The pain started.
It wasn't as bad as Zheng Zu's training but I knew that it was just starting.
My skin felt as if a few hundred ants were crawling over it, which wasn't very bad… But. after a few more minutes than crawling turned into biting.
It was as if every pore in my body was being poked by needles laced with bee poison.
"How bad is the pain?" Sinister was sitting on a chair with a pen and paper in his hand.
I-Is he taking notes?
"Quite bad." I said as I clenched my teeth.
My pain tolerance had increased but it was nowhere near enough to handle this. The pain was increasing each second and blood was oozing out of my pores.
[20 minutes later]
Red… That's what I saw. Everything was red in my field of vision. Whether it was because of the blood gathering in my eyes or because of the tissues being broken down and rebuilt every time… I wasn't sure..
Yes, every single tissue in my body was being reformed… excluding the brain and the nerves, which I believe was because Zheng Zu already helped in modifying them.
"Your cells are reforming." Sinister was noting down every single detail that was happening to me. "And it is producing an awful amount of stem-cells."
Stem cells are one of the most helpful cells. They can develop into any cell according to the required condition, thus having a large number of stem cells was a good thing… considering that my body was being evolved to the point of being able to handle such a large number of stem cells.
[An hour later]
I couldn't see a thing as the pain of rapid breaking and reconstruction of bones were too much to handle. I felt my bones becoming sturdier… even more than the ones acquired from the acupuncture.
"I am surprised that you haven't passed out from the pain." He started collecting the blood that my body was expelling.
"You are more *huff* focused on the samples huh?"
"Research is far more important than anything else."
What did I expect… It's Sinister after all.
"Fair enough."
"Besides after an hour, your first evolution will be completed." He smiles.
Technically it's not my first evolution but yeah…
[Another hour later]
My body was numb. No pain, no itching but only numbness.
All the tissues were reconstructed… So, it will take a few more minutes for my nerves to adjust to the new body tissues.
"That went perfectly… as expected." He wasn't concerned at all. Well, he never is wrong with his calculations so it does make sense.
It took less than I expected for the numbness to go away.
"Do you want me to unchain you?" He asked, walking towards me.
"Nah, it's fine." I said as I pulled the chains.
The results were better than I expected. I thought the chains would break but instead, the joints of the chains came off along with a piece of concrete attached to it.
The martial arts were already extremely powerful and coupled with my newly reformed body… it was beyond magnificent.
"It will take a little bit of time… but I can get used to this." This made Essex let out a laugh.
"I had the same feeling when my body was modified. It will take a little while but you will get used to it."
