A Promise that was Fulfilled.

Eitri is a master of his craft. He made some of the finest things in this universe which includes the likes of Gungnir, the Infinity Gauntlet, Mjolnir, Stormbreaker and many other marvellous creations.

And now he stood before me with the finest pendant that I had ever seen.

"That's the thing you asked for… The Infinity Pendant."

It was a pendant in the form of a tree with five perfectly carved leaves. Each leaf was a holder that would hold one infinity stone and the final stone was supposed to go at the trunk of the tree.

"Eitri, the God's Forger… You keep true to your name."

I took the silver pendant in my hand and calmly summoned the Soul Stone. Eitri kept staring at the godly gem with his eyes wide open.

The orange gem floated over me and slowly moved towards the pendant made of uru alloy. As it reached the rightmost leaf, it shot towards it and instantly got stuck to the leaf.

The entire workshop shook at the power that the gem emitted. The stone was one of the strongest items of this universe… and now, it was mine.

Taking a deep breath, I wrapped the pendant around my neck. And all it took was a second for the pendant and the gem to harmonise with my body and soul.

I instantly felt the stone's energy surge through me as I stumbled back from the shockwave.

"I-It's even better than I imagined." I mumbled as I felt my soul getting free and strong.

"It's an Infinity Stone, it's bound to affect you."

Eitri was still not confident that I could use the stone. But he didn't know that I could control at least two stones even without the holder… I had him make the pendant to make using the stone more efficient.

And to work as a medium to channel the power when I find the other gems.

"You don't have to worry about that, Eitri." I gave the dwarf a smile. "But as payment for making the pendant… take this."

I placed a finger over his chest which caused his eyes to instantly roll back and his body to go limp.

"Looks like it was too much, huh?"

I didn't harm him but I used the Soul Stone to strengthen his soul. However, the sudden improvement made him lose his strength and so he fell unconscious.

Well, when he wakes up he will feel better. And there is not much he has to fear now as other than universal beings, no one else can harm his soul.

Now, I need to overwrite his memories.

Erase the parts about me, the stone and being forced to work… add parts about drinking nonstop and passing out for a week and starting to repair the old tools…

Perfect.

It was common for dwarfs to drink and sleep for months on end and one week was not a big deal. Additionally, I added some memories about repairing the old tools so it's all good.

After dealing with Eitri's memories, I instantly teleported to earth.

I had to get used to using the Soul Stone or it will be troublesome when I add more gems.

The abilities that the gem provided me were many but the most useful ones were soul corruption, better astral projection and the ability to resurrect and conjure the spiritual representation of the people who are dead.

It could hear the souls at will, I could see them at will and I could even talk with them.

I was immune to every soul-based attack, I could corrupt anyone's soul and I could take over their souls.

But now, I had a promise to fulfil.

Something important.

[[Nathaniel Essex]]

It has been an insanely busy month from completing the project of breaking down a gene with energy manipulation to tracking down the history of all the four horsemen of Apocalypse.

And no matter how confident Marcel— Markus is. Apocalypse is still a being that had defeated many powerful mutants and supernatural beings in the past.

However, I do believe that Markus' plan will work. He has never lost yet… which also is worrisome as he might grow overconfident because of that.

I hope that's not the case.

But finally, I had completed one of my projects.

The Energy Serum.

Taking every energy manipulator's X-Gene that I had… I was able to create a serum that gave Omega Level energy manipulation to the host. And it was going to be one of the best weapons against Apocalypse's army.

"You seem happy."

The sudden echoing voice made me sigh.

"I would appreciate if you knocked."

"And why should I do that?" He chuckled. "That's too much effort."

*Sigh*

"So, what made you come here?" I asked. "You don't visit without a reason."

"That is correct." He affirmed. "I have a reason to be here today as well."

Well, he always comes with some interesting topic so it's not always so bad.

"Do tell."

He hummed as he walked around the lab. "What's that?"

"That's the project I told you about… the Energy Serum."

He looked surprised but suddenly grew a smile at the revelation.

"Congratulations, Essex. You have done the impossible once again."

Says the guy that became a human god…

"It was difficult but not impossible. And it's specifically to be used against Apocalypse."

"Alright."

"Now…" I asked. "Tell me what you are looking for."

He looked at me and grinned. "A picture."

After abandoning his Marcellus identity, he has started to act quite playful. Sometimes, it confuses me as to which has been his real persona.

"And what picture are we talking about?" I asked as his smile didn't leave his face.

"A picture… of your family."

*Clank*

The test tube fell from my hands as he revealed the item he was searching for.

"A-And what do… you need it for?"

Please, please tell me it's what I am thinking about.

His smile turned softer. "It's time for me to fulfil my end of the bargain, Nathaniel."

Years… I have spent years for this day and now it was becoming a reality.

"Please tell me that you are not playing a joke."

He shook his head. "I don't joke about things like family, my friend."

I felt my breathing quicken as my heart started racing.

It was finally time.

I worked for this day for so long.

"When can you revive them?"

My face was hopeful as my strict demeanour crumbled. But I didn't care.

I needed to see my family.

"What do you need? A picture and?" I asked him with a broken voice, unable to contain my excitement.

"A picture will suffice."

Without wasting a second, I rushed towards my drawer and took out a picture frame. It was a picture that I had for a very long time. It was a picture I recreated from my memories… a difficult task as I didn't possess matter manipulation, but I still had it made.

With trembling hands, I passed the photo frame to Markus— who carefully took it from me.

"That's a beautiful photo." He complimented.

"It is the only memory I have left."

The beautiful blonde woman with a bad temper and the ever-active little boy.

Rebecca and Adam, my family.

"That should be enough. I just needed a picture to visualise their features."

He returned the frame and took a deep breath.

He stared at the ground before him and I followed his vision.

Slowly but steadily, the floor became wet and a puddle formed on the ground. And following that, the puddle started to convulse as it rose from the ground and started to take a humanoid shape.

"It's more difficult than I thought." Markus said without losing focus.

Soon an opaque skeleton started to form inside the liquid and following that— formed the organs.

"This is…"

"Amazing right?"

After the organs, formed the blood vessels that went inside the bones while the rest surrounded the organs… and then formed the muscles.

The muscle formation took the longest… a total of seven minutes. But as the muscles formed, the body started to be covered by skin. Soon the red turned to white and blonde hair started to grow from the womanly figure's head. Then formed the nails and other bodily features… and before long, I had a replica of my wife standing in front of me.

"R-Rebecca…" I subconsciously started to move towards the figure but Markus stopped me.

"I am not done yet." He said and repeated the procedure to create another figure— my son.

Adam's black hair shone with the lighting as my heart started pumping.

"Now… all that is left is—" Markus took a deep breath and pushed his hand over the chest of my wife and son. "This."

Instantly, I felt weak and crumbled on the ground.

"What's happening…"

"Sorry, still new to this." He apologised. "Nearby beings are affected when I use this ability."

But none of that mattered as the bodies in front of my eyes started to jerk as the colour of their skin grew darker.

My eyes grew wide as I knew that their hearts had started to pump and the blood had begun to rush through their veins.

Their eyes started to twitch while mine started to water.

"There." Markus breathed out. "That should do it."

Rebecca and Adam slowly opened their eyes and tears started to roll down my cheeks. Rebecca's blue eyes opened wide as the two of us stared at each other.

"Nathaniel?" She asked, breathing life.

Long… For so long, I have waited to hear her voice one more time.

With tears in my eyes and a heartfelt smile, I answered.

"Welcome back, Rebecca."
