Knowing that the newcomers belonged to S.H.I.E.L.D., their identities were not difficult to guess.
That "braised egg head" must be Nick Fury, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The person next to him should be Black Widow, whose full name is Natasha Romanoff.
Both of them are exceptional agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Nick Fury is even known as the "King of Agents."
As agents, they have undergone extensive professional training.
They possess a deep understanding of human nature, especially someone at Nick Fury's level.
Because of this, he always exudes confidence, believing he can "persuade" anyone.
As soon as he entered the room, Nick Fury walked to the sofa and sat down with a very serious expression.
He then briefly introduced himself: "Hello, my name is Nick Fury. I believe Tony has already provided you with some general information."
Since Luo Bai didn't want to waste any more words, he replied directly, "As I said, I have no interest in the Avengers."
Nick Fury didn't seem surprised and didn't even mention it.
He changed the subject: "I heard Tony say that you are a mage?!"
"Yeah," Luo Bai nodded.
Nick Fury expressed his disbelief: "Although it's hard for me to accept that there are mages on Earth, I can't explain how you made Obadiah disappear out of thin air... Can I ask, are there many mages like you on Earth?"
Luo Bai frowned and said, "That question is rather impolite."
Nick Fury seemed to understand. He explained, "You know, most people on Earth are ordinary. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s responsibility is to protect and manage the Earth, so I must eliminate all factors that threaten it."
"So you think... mages are a threat to the Earth?" Luo Bai asked.
Nick Fury shook his head. "I'm not sure. If you are indeed a mage, then you possess greater strength than ordinary humans. If a mage or someone with super abilities decided to harm the Earth, it would be hard for humans to resist."
When "superpowers" emerge, some humans may find it thrilling, but others worry that such powers could pose a threat to humanity.
It was clear that Nick Fury belonged to the latter group.
Luo Bai understood his concerns, but being questioned made him somewhat dissatisfied.
However, he didn't argue too much. Instead, he smiled and asked Nick Fury, "If a mage truly intends to harm the Earth, do you think you could handle it?"
"The Avengers are the answer," Nick Fury responded seriously. "Everyone in the Avengers will protect the Earth and prevent any evil forces from threatening it."
"So you believe those with super abilities who refuse to join the Avengers pose a threat to the Earth?" Luo Bai countered, a meaningful smile on his face.
Nick Fury was momentarily taken aback and replied, "Yes."
Luo Bai fell silent, and the smile on his face gradually faded.
His silence made Nick Fury uneasy.
Their eyes locked, and the atmosphere became incredibly tense for a moment.
Noticing the shift, Natasha Romanoff interjected, "I don't believe Luo Bai will harm the Earth. After all, he helped Stark and resolved the last crisis."
As another agent, Natasha naturally sided with Nick Fury.
Though Luo Bai knew they were likely "acting," one playing the good cop and the other the bad, he found it more acceptable to listen to her.
"I think you could talk more than he does. Why aren't you the king of agents?" Luo Bai asked.
Natasha shrugged, half-jokingly replying, "Maybe it's because he's older than I am. In our line of work, experience is crucial."
"Then you're at a huge disadvantage," Luo Bai replied playfully.
Their banter only deepened Nick Fury's scowl.
"Agent Romanoff, watch your words and actions," Nick Fury admonished.
Natasha shrugged and remained silent.
Nick Fury then sensed something was off.
"You know I'm the king of agents?" he asked.
All information in S.H.I.E.L.D. is top secret and inaccessible to ordinary people. The personal details of agents like them are even more classified.
How did Luo Bai know that he was the king of agents?
"You've investigated me? You shouldn't... you shouldn't be able to access my information!" Nick Fury said, puzzled.
At this moment, he looked at Luo Bai with increasing suspicion.
Luo Bai smiled brightly and replied casually, "Of course I know. I even know you were an army colonel during World War II and only joined S.H.I.E.L.D. after the war."
"How do you know these things?!" Nick Fury asked, his expression turning serious.
Luo Bai didn't answer directly but asked, "Nick Fury, do you really believe S.H.I.E.L.D. is airtight and well-protected? What if it's actually quite different from what you imagine?"
"What do you mean?!" Nick Fury asked, now more confused and serious.
Luo Bai still didn't answer directly, instead saying, "You think everything is under your control and plan, but in reality, it has long since spiraled out of your control. I don't believe you can truly protect the Earth. So I don't want to join the Avengers at all."
His words were quite blunt, and it was no wonder Nick Fury's expression darkened the more he heard.
However, Nick Fury couldn't find the words to refute him. Judging by the current situation, he had lost this "game."
Nick Fury had tried to find no information about Luo Bai, yet Luo Bai seemed to know him well.
From this standpoint alone, he had already lost.
He knew it was impossible to persuade Luo Bai to join the Avengers, but he still wanted to make one last effort.
"The Security Council will not permit the existence of 'super-powered individuals' who are out of control. Not to mention, there's almost no information about you on a global scale. If you're unwilling to join the Avengers, have you considered how you will face future scrutiny?" Nick Fury asked.
This was not a threat but rather advice.
After all, no matter how powerful Nick Fury was, he still had to answer to the higher-ups—the Security Council.
But Luo Bai was not worried at all.
"Tony has been pursued and faced opposition at United Nations meetings, but do you think Tony cares?" Luo Bai asked.
Stark quickly chimed in, "I don't care at all. I just think of those people as background noise."
At this point, Nick Fury was completely speechless.
"Okay, then I wish you good luck. I hope you won't mind what I said today. After all, I just want to ensure the safety of the Earth," Nick Fury said.
Though some of what he said was not pleasant to hear, considering his intentions, it was understandable.
Moreover, Luo Bai didn't want to get too entangled with S.H.I.E.L.D., so he didn't dwell on it.
"I've always been very lucky," Luo Bai said casually.
With the main topics covered and issues mostly resolved, Nick Fury and Natasha Romanoff prepared to leave.
Stark also planned to leave as he was eager to deal with his poisoning.
Just as the three were about to exit, Nick Fury received a phone call.
After answering, Nick Fury's expression turned serious. "Trouble is coming. Tony, I think we need your help this time."
