71 Chapter 71: Woke up

Pietro's injuries are really bad, and no medical technology on Earth can save him. Even with the help of alien technology to keep him alive, it was still difficult for him to fully recover.

Jack and Wanda waited for almost an hour. Finally, Peter slowly opened his eyes inside the medical pod.

"Let him out."

As soon as Jack saw that Peter was awake, he ordered for the pod to be opened. The nutrient solution that had filled the pod quickly drained away, and Peter sat up, still trying to figure out what had happened.

Two robots approached and opened the pod, handing Peter a blanket to wrap himself in.

"Pietro, how do you feel?"

Only then did Wanda dare to approach and help Peter, afraid of causing him any more harm and being very cautious.

"I...I'm fine, it's just..."

Peter, wrapped in a blanket, looked at Wanda to confirm she was okay before turning to Jack with a puzzled look: "What's going on? Who are you?"

He still clearly remembered coming back from work and getting shot in the chest by the EKO Scorpion just as he was about to reach his doorstep. There was no way he could have survived.

But when he closed his eyes and opened them again, he found himself in an unfamiliar place, still alive and drowned in water, with his once fatal injuries now healed.

What could possibly be happening?

This was what Pietro wanted to figure out.

In the spaceship's meeting room,

"Here, try this. It's juice squeezed from ripe aloe fruit and tastes really good."

Jack placed glasses of double green juice in front of Wanda and Peter, then sat opposite them and gestured with his hand. "It's good for the body and can promote growth."

As he said this, he glanced at Wanda, who had been skinny due to the harsh living conditions they had endured for so long, making her seem rather ordinary in some aspects.

Hmm?!

As expected, when Wanda heard the phrase "promote growth," her eyes lit up. She secretly looked down before casually picking up a glass and gently sipping it through a straw.

"Mmm, it's tangy and sweet!"

"Hmm...forgive me for being bold."

Peter looked at his timid little sister, then turned to Jack and asked, "Who the heck are you? Are you an alien or something? And why did you save us?"

"First, let me introduce myself. I'm Jack Wayne. As for who I am, it's not entirely incorrect to say that I'm an alien, as I've just returned from outer space."

Jack leaned back on the couch, crossing his legs and placing one hand on his knee as he said, "As for why I saved you, it's simply a matter of returning the favor. You saved me, and I saved you. It's as simple as that. In fact, Even though I couldn't move for the last few days, I was still awake and could see everything. I'm really thankful for what you did."

As soon as Jack finished speaking, Pietro hadn't said anything yet, but Wanda, next to him, sipping the juice happily, suddenly looked stunned and then started coughing continuously, her face turning red, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at Jack.

Pietro looked at his little sister, acting silly, and said, "Hey, take it easy with that drink. No one's gonna steal it from you." Even if the drink helped her grow, she didn't need to drink it so quickly.

Jack, on the other side, looked at Wanda with a strange expression on his face. Of course, he knew why she had this reaction. During the days when she couldn't move, Wanda had confided in him a lot, even the most private things that a girl would say.

He also wondered what made Wanda feel comfortable sharing personal information with someone she didn't know.

"Thanks for saving us, but can we leave now?" Pietro didn't care to think about why his sister acted like that. He just wanted to get out of there ASAP. It might seem rude considering their last encounter, but the person they were dealing with was clearly causing trouble, and it was best for them to leave.

"You can leave anytime and go back to Sokovia. Don't worry, I've taken care of the EKO Scorpion's business, and no one will come looking for you when you return," Jack said reassuringly.

Jack stood up and said, "Before you go back, I have a gift to give you."

"A gift?" Pietro and the slowly recovering Wanda looked at each other, not understanding what he meant.

Jack motioned for the siblings to follow him without revealing any details and led them to the room.

"Who is he?" Pietro and Wanda looked at the man locked inside, not understanding what was going on.

"He's not an ordinary person," said Jack, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "He used to be one of the many warlords in Sokovia. Six years ago, he engaged in a local war with another warlord in a small town near Sokovia. He won because his weapons were stronger, thanks to the quality of Stark Industries."

As Jack introduced the man, Pietro, and Wanda's faces slowly filled with hatred.

That night, their whole family was sitting in a warm room watching the latest episode of the Dean Van Dyne show, a supposed time of warmth and family, until a Stark Industries missile struck.

Their parents died

The siblings barely escaped, hiding under their beds. Just two meters away was another Stark missile with a red light flashing on its edge. As if it could explode at any moment.

They were too scared to move, staying under the bed for two days until a rescue team saved them.

For two whole days, they almost died many times, and seeing the Stark logo on the missile made them feel like they were definitely going to die, which made them really scared and worried.

As they got older and saw more things, they understood that although Stark's weapon was the one that killed their parents, it wasn't actually stark that caused their parents' deaths.

After six years after that night, they saw a lot of people dying and went through many situations where they almost died. These experiences made them realize something important: wars are caused by people, not weapons.

So, even though they really despised Stark, they didn't go as far as trying to go after Stark no matter what.

They hated the person who fired the missile into their house more than anyone else.

It was the guy who was inside.

"Sadly, he ended up losing a war against another leader, but he managed to stay alive and spent six years fighting to survive in the slums."

Jack continued, "I found him. Now it's up to you to deal with him. See the button on the wall? Just press it..."

Bang!

He didn't even finish speaking when Pietro slammed his hand on the button.

Suddenly, the hatch opened up, and the man inside was swept away by the air breeze, floating into space without even understanding what was happening.

Jack raised an eyebrow, looked at Pietro in surprise, and sighed, "Well, he wasn't a good person anyway, so it's good that he's dead."

It's true. The guy used to be a warlord and did many terrible things, like killing people, arson, theft, and kidnapping. Even after losing his power, he still acted badly and didn't try to improve. Last winter, he even stole a piece of bread from an old lady just to survive, which caused her to fall down and freeze to death in the snow.

Jack would have done it himself if Pietro and Wanda hadn't killed him.

As they watched the man float into space, Wanda and Pietro had mixed emotions and stood there in shock, with a mixture of satisfaction.

They had finally taken revenge.

But what comes next? What should they do now?
