Outside the cave, Tony and the executives of Valen Mining were observing the footage being transmitted by the exploration team using cameras.
This terrifying nest, hiding ancient secrets, seemed to echo human footsteps for the first time after countless ages.
The explorers, holding mobile cameras, walked slowly inside.
Meanwhile, professionals sketched noteworthy things roughly on their notebooks.
Tony watched the transmitted images without blinking.
If something shocking were to be discovered in this unknown underground world.
Perhaps, among his many titles, there would be one added as "Great Explorer."
Unfortunately,
If he had been born a few hundred years earlier, Edgar Allan Poe could have written him into "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym."
After traversing complex mine tunnels, the exploration team gradually delved deeper underground.
The interior of the underground world seemed to have its own wonders.
Ruined ancient architectural remnants appeared before everyone.
The lower parts of the buildings were remarkably well-preserved.
The main feature of the entire structure was its complexity, akin to a labyrinth.
The roofs of the stone buildings had disappeared, leaving huge open cavities towards the top.
Inside the buildings were many stone ramps or inclined planes with horizontal grooves, which should correspond to the stairs commonly used.
The voices of the explorers were transmitted outward through the devices:
"The average floor area of the rooms is approximately thirty by thirty feet, with a height of twenty feet, but there may be larger rooms as well."
After examining the rooms, the exploration team continued further inside.
Tony felt that everything in the video images appeared extraordinarily vast and heavy, giving an eerie sense of oppression.
Every aspect of these stone buildings seemed to imply a vague but completely different meaning from humanity.
"Easter Island statues? I can't imagine how these people adjusted those giant rocks to keep them in such strange balance," Tony complained to the nearby Danvers.
Soon, the explorers discovered the presence of murals.
This immediately piqued Tony's interest.
The carvings in this underground world were chiseled onto consecutive horizontal boards.
The width of these boards was three feet.
Apart from the mural boards, there were also boards of the same width, carved with geometrically symmetrical vine patterns.
The two types of boards alternated and interlaced, covering the entire wall from floor to ceiling.
The explorers directed the camera towards the mural on the wall.
The carving technique of the murals was extremely sophisticated, and the creator's skills were highly advanced.
The carvings used clear proportions, and even the tiniest details of complex plants and animals were depicted vividly, astonishing observers.
Even though Tony Stark did not understand mural appreciation, he still found these to be quite technically proficient murals.
However, it was the content of the murals that truly shocked Tony.
At the beginning of the mural, it depicted a spaceship descending from the sky, with humans prostrating on the ground, worshiping towards the spacecraft.
Next came the presence of black animals or beings escaping from the spaceship.
The content of the mural continued, showing humans lying on sacrificial altars, seemingly sacrificing to a revered deity.
Following that were scenes of winged creatures battling the "aliens."
Finally, there were creatures resembling vampires, all of whom seemed to be falling into a deep sleep.
As Tony looked at the contents of these murals, stroking his chin, he fell into contemplation.
It seemed to describe the horrifying creatures, similar to those that killed werewolves on Bear Mountain.
Could it be that those creatures really came from outer space, as speculated by the media, and arrived on a spaceship?
It seemed that these vampire-like creatures in the murals had killed the group of strange creatures from space and then all fell into hibernation.
He looked up at the deep cave entrance.
Could this be the place where those vampires, dormant for who knows how long, reside?!
Beside him, Danvers frowned as he looked at the contents of the murals. "What on earth is this?"
Tony raised his head and shrugged, saying, "Perhaps it's some bizarre concept proposed by a group of bold futurists."
Just as he was about to continue, a sudden incident occurred in the underground world!
Creatures suddenly emerged from the darkness, impossible to trace, launching attacks on the members of the exploration team.
Wails and screams instantly transmitted through the camera.
The security personnel responsible for protecting the exploration team immediately began firing at the creatures lurking in the darkness.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The piercing sound of gunfire echoed in the underground world.
But the bullets couldn't hit these hidden killers at all.
Soon, these security personnel screamed as they lost their lives.
Seeing such a gruesome scene, Tony stood up suddenly and said to Danvers, "Damn it! Go save them!"
Danvers, also snapping out of his shock, said to Tony, "No, there's nothing we can do!"
"You can, deploy all armed forces into the cave!" Tony said angrily.
Even if he were a bastard, he couldn't just stand by and watch a group of people die in front of him.
"We all know that's not possible," Danvers said, signaling to his subordinates around him.
The subordinates quickly sealed off the cave entrance with mechanical tools.
Seeing Danvers not only failing to rescue people but also sealing off the entrance, Tony exploded with anger.
"Damn it! You're committing murder!"
"Sometimes, necessary sacrifices are worthwhile," Danvers said calmly to Tony. "I believe that in the rise of the Stark Industries, similar things have certainly been done, after all, the accumulation of capital is always accompanied by countless white bones. We are not innocent, Mr. Stark."
"That's you, not me!"
"Is it? Mr. Stark, your reputation is worse than mine."
"Is it? I always thought my reputation was worse."
In the café, Peter said to Gwen.
"You just saved the CEO of Stark Industries at the airport, and many people. Your reputation is better than mine."
Gwen stirred her coffee with a spoon.
But she quickly realized that Peter was changing the subject again.
They had just been discussing the issue of Professor Helen, and Peter shifted the topic again.
"Speaking of Professor Helen, did she really cause that abnormal smell in the classroom?" Gwen blinked and asked.
"Yes, she's a walking magician, capable of releasing hormones similar to plant hormones, and she's a curious person," Peter said to her. "So she noticed both you and me. We had a fight last time, and she took quite a beating."
Gwen suddenly realized, "No wonder she's so resentful. No, are there really magicians in this world? I'd rather believe in aliens!"
