The aliens reproduce using facehuggers, requiring only a live host. Once injected into the embryo, facehuggers swiftly complete the reproduction process, awaiting the emergence of the new alien through the chest.
Helen shouldn't have been so conspicuous.
And this jungle seemed more like some sort of hunting ground.
Raising his eyes, his gaze swept the surroundings.
All was silent, and even the raindrops falling from the sky began to diminish.
The raindrops fell on his exoskeleton, becoming increasingly dark and translucent.
Just as he was lost in thought, footsteps suddenly sounded in the woods.
Under his gaze, the hunter, Kraven, arrived in the jungle.
"For many years, I've roamed jungles all over the world, tracking the most dangerous animals," Kraven said to the drone in front of him as he walked.
The drone circling him seemed to be serving as a camera.
"But today, I'm here to hunt the most dangerous creature. Many have sworn they've seen it, and many blame it for the disappearance of citizens. Today, I'll unveil it for you."
Kraven, with a large gun barrel in hand, was starting a live broadcast.
"If you like what you see, subscribe to my channel. This is my first live broadcast, and today, I'll present to you the hunting process in its purest form!"
To counter the overwhelming popularity of the vampire, Kraven and his manager finally came up with a way to compete: live streaming!
Kraven's first live stream was sure to be full of excitement, surpassing even the vampire's popularity.
He believed he didn't need "sex" and "violence" to attract viewers. He thought his genuine display of masculinity would conquer the audience.
"Next, I'll place the bait here and wait for the monster to take the bait."
Kraven addressed the viewers, "Later, my team will place the bait. I hope this monster won't disappoint me. Also, viewers, I've heard about that woman called the vampire, claiming to hunt dark creatures."
He mentioned the vampire again.
"She claims to have fought Dracula, swamp monsters, and even the forces of darkness. I find this story very amusing. I'll take it as a children's fairy tale."
He then showed off his personal equipment, full of explosive energy. "I always believe seeing is believing, not fabricating stories out of thin air. Why doesn't she say she's fought with ghost witches, the dark legion, and other such stories? Perhaps she's more suited to be a children's TV host."
After mocking the vampire, he began showcasing his personal gear to the audience.
In the shadows, Peter quietly watched Kraven's explanation.
Naturally, he didn't believe the other party would hunt any monsters, but he was quite looking forward to the live broadcast's effect.
Meanwhile...
Liz Allen also opened the live stream. Upon seeing Kraven starting his hunt, she immediately excitedly shared the live link with her classmates.
Peter and Gwen were among those she shared it with.
With a keen interest in becoming a journalist, Liz was always particularly interested in such events.
Also watching the live stream was the vampire.
She had been infuriated by the bastard who had deceived her, and now, her butler, Collins, handed her the tablet.
"Madam, you're under attack."
"What kind of attack?"
The vampire immediately prepared for battle. "Has someone invaded my castle?"
"Not in reality, but online."
Collins pointed at the tablet. "This hunter, Kraven, thinks you're suited to be a children's TV host."
The vampire looked at the derogatory remarks Kraven made about her on the tablet, her face turning even worse.
Originally, she was already furious for being deceived by the fake journalist, and now, she was completely enraged.
"Very well, I must let him personally experience whether I'm fit to host a children's show."
With that, she got up and walked outside.
"Where are you going, madam?"
"To Bear Mountain."
"It's raining outside. Aren't you taking an umbrella?"
"No need. Have you ever seen a vampire carrying an umbrella?"
In the jungle of Bear Mountain, Peter was watching Kraven's hunt.
A feeling of palpitations suddenly struck him, and he looked up at the distant city.
That thing that caused the embryo inside him to stir was back.
He could feel the close connection between that thing and the embryo inside him, as if they shared a bloodline.
It felt the same as when Helen appeared in the bar last time.
Frowning, he glanced at Kraven before jumping towards the sky.
"Swoosh!"
A large flock of birds suddenly flew up in the woods, the flapping of wings startling Kraven, who was broadcasting live.
Once he realized it was just crows flying away, he breathed a sigh of relief and continued his broadcast.
In the city, Gwen narrowly avoided an attack from a lurking color-shifting monster in the darkness.
Stepping back, she watched the creature before her with suspicion.
Concealed in the darkness and blending in with the plants, the creature emitted no breath, like a top-tier assassin lying in wait.
What shocked Gwen was the creature's appearance.
Even though she had already encountered creatures like vampires, seeing this modern horror-like creature still shook her to the core.
The creature had black ossified skin, a grim exoskeleton that gleamed black in the rain.
What was most striking about this creature was its head—a thick, elongated cylindrical shape with a ring of mysterious protrusions at the end.
Combining human form, insect-like exoskeleton, and exquisite yet cold mechanical texture, the creature was crafted to exude a savage and fierce beauty, immersing one in an atmosphere of terrifying darkness.
Gwen watched the monstrous yet beautiful creature, feeling the strong scent of bloodshed emanating from it, and couldn't help but take a step back.
Just as she was uncertain, Helen slowly emerged from behind the alien.
"You!"
Gwen stared in astonishment at Helen, extending her hand.
The seemingly ferocious creature, upon seeing Helen extend her hand, leaned its smooth head towards her.
"Forget to introduce you. It's called the Queen," Helen said to Gwen, rubbing the alien's smooth head. "Sorry, it always can't resist turning into a hunter in the dark, so it attacked you just now."
"What kind of creature is this?" Gwen asked cautiously after giving her a glance.
"I don't know either. Perhaps you should ask your little boyfriend."
Before Helen could finish her sentence, a voice came from behind Gwen, "Maybe it's better if you don't mention me."
"!"
Gwen heard the familiar voice and quickly turned around, seeing Peter standing behind her.
"Leave here, Gwen," Peter said to Gwen, frowning at Helen and the unsettling alien nearby.
"No! I can't leave. Do you think I'm the kind of person who would flee from a battlefield?" Gwen responded excitedly to Peter's suggestion. "This has nothing to do with the battlefield, Gwen. I'll make sure everything's fine. Trust me."
Helen, seeing Peter's appearance, was initially surprised but soon calmed down. She added beside Gwen, "Trust him. Your little boyfriend doesn't want you to get hurt."
Gwen took a deep look at Peter, finally nodding after seeing the reassuring look he gave her. Believing that Peter was trying to protect her, Gwen suppressed her emotions, shot out a web and quickly left. However, she didn't go far and was ready to support Peter at any time.
After Gwen left, Peter turned his gaze towards the alien beside Helen.
The alien resembled the one he encountered at the Vellum Base in his past life, but it was slightly smaller in size. Its exoskeleton was similar to his own, but the protruding parts of its forelimbs seemed more agile.
Facing the restless and anxious alien staring at him, he could sense the contract connecting them.
He naturally possessed a natural suppression and control over it.
"What did you do to me?!" Helen asked him directly.
After removing the black violet Peter spat out, her body underwent a change.
This creature, named "Queen" by her, was born from her body.
With its formidable killing and destructive power, the creature amazed her. It seemed to be a natural-born hunter.
It possessed full destructive power right after birth.
If she didn't use the hormones in her body to control it, it might even harm her.
Apart from its innate strength, agility, and inherent killing nature, the "Queen" seemed to have integrated some of her abilities.
For example, the color change of its exoskeleton to adapt to the environment, especially when lurking in plants, and it could even change parts of its exoskeleton to complete transformation.
Additionally, the "Queen" could spray plant hormones similar to hers, causing enemies to faint or feel dizzy.
She even suspected if it was a parasitic existence in Peter's body, combined with the "beast" inside her to give birth to this creature.
On the other hand, Peter sighed when Helen questioned him.
What else could he do, the alien was born.
He thought so in his heart, but Peter didn't show it. Instead, he said calmly to her, "I don't know. Perhaps the demon parasitized inside me might know."
Helen sneered, "Aren't you a demon, Peter?"
"Perhaps I am a demon, but obviously what you did to Gwen doesn't seem like the work of a good person."
Helen took a step towards him, "Because I know this way you will show up, you haven't answered my question, Peter."
"Helen, didn't you say it before?"
Peter slowly said to her, "Whether it's a phage or a drone, their purpose is only one, which is reproduction. This is a physiological performance and also a necessary process in nature."
"You are a biology teacher, Helen, you should know better than me what is happening."
Peter's expression didn't seem fake, even causing Helen to feel puzzled.
Frowning, she asked Peter, "Isn't this your doing?"
"I don't have that much power yet."
Peter looked at the alien and asked Helen, "Was it responsible for the human-eating incident at Bear Mountain State Park?"
"I'm not that bored."
Helen snorted, "That wasn't done by the Queen, at most, it hunted down a few vampires and hasn't eaten any humans yet!"
