CHAPTER 16

Two weeks have gone by since Andrew reached the island along with Scarlet Barton.

The next day after they arrived, Laura had already added Scarlet as her daughter and changed her name to Scarlet Barton.

The girl was beyond happy to know about this and cried for 2 straight hours.

Andrew had a call with Barton in need of a place to train.

Barton talked to his wife and Laura guided Andrew to the location.

"This is where he used to train whenever he got free time which is mostly in the afternoon when the kids sleep and of course when he is not on a mission."

The training area was actually below their house and it covered 3 miles in distance.

There was a lab in which he experiments with new arrows, suits, and many more.

He also had a lot of types of equipment varying from swords, machetes, axes, and a lot more.

There was also an advanced computer which helped Andrew a lot more than he required.

The place also had a lot of books for him to upgrade his knowledge in Networks, Security, and the Internet.

He started to develop various software for his endeavors.

He created one that disrupts the camera in a range of 3 Kilometers, and finally another one that will make a map of all the people in the location through cameras.

If Shield gets their hands on this then their missions will be much easier to complete but Andrew decided not to even show that such a thing exist.

He wondered what would happen if he were to increase his Intelligence Enhancement to another level.

Just a single level made his ability to read faster, understand, and comprehend things faster.

This made him think about all the other enhancements as well.

He remembered the Outsider saying that he used the Energy of the Void to use Dark Vision and Blink then what about enhancements? Does it also use the Energy of the Void to make enhance its working? He decided to ask about this the next time he meets the Outsider.

One week passed by this way, and Andrew improved his knowledge and created his software.

The next week he dedicated himself completely to working on his skills.

He started to work on his Sword and Bow skills.

He chose Bow because it was silent, unlike guns.

Guns are efficient, yes, but in a place crowded with guards, Bows would prove to be much better.

He decided to be as silent as possible and end things without anyone realizing he was even there.

The issue he faced was quivers. He would have to carry that around all the time when he is enacting his plans. He started to work on a way to remove Quiver and replace it with something else but till now he had come up with nothing.

His sword training went well but he won't know unless he fights with someone. But not many will even be able to keep up with the speed at which his swords move.

He started to make schematics for his outfit, a mask, a foldable sword, foldable bows, arrows, and software to be added to his suit.

After this, he wrote a list of all the ones involved in the mission and murdering his family. The list was big. It contained every single detail he required on it. He used the pen drive that Barton had given him previously to make the list ready.

'To think the CIA Director never even bothered to check his right-hand man's missions. If he knew then this all would have never happened. Best to make use of the CIA Director at the right time.'

'I have seen the effect when I released all the information about David and his organization and just thinking about doing the same makes me not want to do it but I will do it. Let the people all know that in power anyone can do anything they want even if it means using you and killing you as a scapegoat.'

Other than that, he interacted with Scarlet, Laura, and her kids.

Laura realized that only the kids could bring his soft side and no one else can.

Even when speaking with her he is reserved whereas with the kids he was slowly breaking the walls that he had built himself which he did not even realize. Though the process was very slow.

Today they had gone to the city to get Scarlet tested. This trip included Barton and Natasha as well as they have returned from their mission.

Tony Stark was found and soon was going to come back to New York as he is in recovery and a seed was planted in his mind that his uncle might be the one who had him get kidnapped.

"What's your plan for the day, Barton?" asked Andrew.

"After the checkup, we will be going to Disney Land as the kids have been wanting to go there for a long time," said Barton.

"Disney Land, yay," said Cooper who was jumping up and down.

Lila who was in her mother's arms was moving her arms up and down in happiness singing, "Disney Land, Disney Land, Disney Land…"

Scarlet did not know what it was and asked using her hands, "What is Disney Land?"

Scarlet felt pain every time she talks and due to that Andrew and Laura had taught her Sign Language which she was able to get a hang of soon which surprised them.

"You will know soon," said Andrew.

They had reached the hospital.

"You guys wait at the restaurant and order something we will be back soon," said Barton.

Laura, Natasha, and the kids went to the restaurant that was opposite the hospital.

Andrew, Barton, and Scarlet in Andrew's arms went inside the hospital and could see that it was empty as Andrew had already requested the Doctor for it.

"Andrew, how long has it been child?" asked the Doctor who was way older than Andrew.

"It's been a year, old man," Andrew said and hugged the old man.

This Old Man, the Doctor, is the father of many children and he was also Andrew's father. It was him who had taken care of Andrew as he was left at the doorsteps of the old man's orphanage.

"I am sorry for what happened to you, son. I just wish I could have done something," the old man said and shed tears.

For the next few minutes, Andrew did not do anything as the Old Man wept. He was not only his father but also Emma's father and Grandfather of Isabella.

He had been shocked when he came to know of the news. It is a miracle how the old man never got a heart attack.

The old man relaxed, "I am sorry."

"Why are apologizing old man, anyone would cry in your position," said Barton.

The Old Man turned to see Barton holding a girl in his arms.

"So, this is the beauty I have to check. Come on child, I will give you a candy." He said as he carried the child.

In the next few minutes, he had already diagnosed Scarlet.

He came out and asked Barton and Andrew to come in. Scarlet came and hugged Andrew.

Andrew took her in his arms as he sat down.

"Every time she talks, she feels pain. Did you know that?"

"Yes."

"Her voice box is severely injured and it's a miracle how it did not get destroyed."

"Is there any way?" asked Andrew.

The Old man shook his head.

Scarlet seeing this started to cry as she realized she will not be able to talk.

Her wails were heard and Andrew started to console her.

'I will heal her.'

"Don't worry, you will be able to talk, and sing. I promise you that," said Andrew.

He placed his hopes on his abilities.

The girl crying in pain stopped when she heard Andrew.

She bobbed her head and a small smile grew on her face.

It was Andrew who had saved her and it was him who gave her hope. She believes he can do anything in this world.

Barton asked, "Are there any other problems with her?"

The Old Man said, "Her Trauma. Nothing else. The faster she comes over it the better. Never let it be cooped up and one day it might blast right out and she will do something she will regret a lot."

"Thanks, Old Man," said Andrew and bowed to him.

The old man slapped his shoulder and spoke, "It is I who should be thanking you and apologizing, Andrew. It is due to your work and Emma that I was able to keep the orphanage and my clinic. I am proud of what you have done. I know you are on a mission of revenge and I hope you don't lose your sight during it, son."

"My time is coming to an end. I maybe have two or three years left in my old bones. I will be leaving the orphanage and clinic to you. Make sure you take care of it," the old man sighed and hugged Andrew.

He did not want to increase Andrew's burden. He knew how much anguish and pain Andrew must be feeling every day and he hopes this orphanage where he was brought up might be the one to bring him back.

Andrew had tears in his eyes which he held back.

"I will take care of it, Father," he said.

"Good. Now go and bring them all to justice. You served your country yet it betrayed you. Now serve for yourself. Serve for your family. Do not show mercy to all who were involved in this."
