Failure Breeds success (chapter 3)

After a restful sleep in the somewhat worn out bed, Adam sat up, momentarily disoriented before recalling his circumstances. He sighed, "Well, I don't know what I was expecting. this doesn't feel like a dream at all" Rising from the bed, he assumed a lotus position, preparing to meditate. To enter his Sea of Consciousness, deep meditation was a prerequisite.

Surprisingly, it took some time before Adam delved into his Sea of Consciousness. The unstable mana ball model floated in the air within the sea, while outside the protective bubble, the world's mana particles danced. With a satisfied smile, he remarked, "Well, time to create another spell." The journey of spell creation was far from over; he craved more, envisioning a repertoire of spells. "But first, I need to gather as many mana particles as possible, so that I can easily create spell models," he reasoned, revealing his strategic approach.

Activating his spiritual force for a minute, Adam's Sea of Consciousness produced only four mana particles. Unperturbed, he waited for his spiritual force to recover, glancing at his panel.

[ Name: Adam ]

[ Mana (plain): 5 (particle) ]

[ Spiritual-Force: 0.02/1.02 (1 spiritual force lasts for 1 minute; 1 spiritual force can be recovered in 1 minute) ]

[ Created spells:

Unstable-Mana-Ball(Tier: 0): a very unstable and tiny mana ball that explodes due to its instability. It doesn't do much damage due to its small size, but it does release a bright flashlight when it explodes, Lv:1 (2/100) cooldown: 10 seconds ]

As a minute passed, Adam observed the five mana particles suspended within his bubble. Contemplating his options, he pondered, "Well, unless I want to make a bigger unstable ball of mana, which honestly wouldn't be a bad idea, I can't create another different spell." He paused, waiting for his spiritual force to recover in his astral form. "So my best option would be to wait until I gather more mana." And so, he patiently waited, accumulating four mana particles every five minutes, amassing a total of 25 mana.

[ Name: Adam ]

[ Mana (plain): 25 (particle) ]

[ Spiritual-Force: 0.06/1.06 (1 spiritual force lasts for 1 minute; 1 spiritual force can be recovered in 1 minute) ]

[ Created spells:

Unstable-Mana-Ball(Tier: 0): a very unstable and tiny mana ball that explodes due to its instability. It doesn't do much damage due to its small size, but it does release bright flash light when it explodes, Lv:1 (2/100) cooldown: 10 seconds ]

"And my spiritual force is progressing quite fast," Adam remarked, content with his progress. He waited, contemplating the spell he wished to create as the 25 mana particles floated around him. "Twenty-five mana particles should be enough, right? I could try different shapes with 25 mana particles, like a shield." The word 'shield' triggered a vivid image in his mind – a sturdy, white shield resisting a dragon's fire breath. Adam chuckled, shaking his head. "Let's not get ahead of myself," he said, regaining his spiritual force.

"Alright, let's do this," Adam encouraged himself, activating his spiritual force. He felt connected to every mana particle inside his bubble as he began to assemble them. Starting with two mana particles that magnetically stuck together for a moment before repelling, Adam had to play the role of a glue, holding them together. Without wasting time, he added another mana particle, repeating the process. The strain increased, making it challenging to maintain control as the particles shook. Adam attempted to create a square mana structure, but the strain intensified, to the point where the bubble, his sea of consciousness started to shake until he lost control. Only 9 mana particles stuck together before separating.

Observing the failure, Adam wasn't disheartened. "Well, that is to be expected. Goldie did say to expect failure at every turn." With this lesson in mind, he tried again after a brief recovery.

However, repeated attempts yielded the same outcome. No matter what he did, Adam couldn't manage to stick more than nine mana particles together. Eventually, his stomach had other plans, and he was abruptly brought back to the real world, disappointed and breathing heavily and left with 9 mana particles only.

[ Name: Adam ]

[ Mana (plain): 9 (particle) ]

[ Spiritual-Force: 0.23/1.23 (1 spiritual force lasts for 1 minute; 1 spiritual force can be recovered in 1 minute) ]

"Fuck." Seeing the number in his status panel irked him as he sat up. After taking a deep breath to calm himself, Adam reminded himself, "Alright, it's called the Spell Creation System for a reason, and it was pretty clear that it wasn't going to be easy." After a minute of calming down and recovering his spiritual force while lying on his bed, Adam focused on his index finger, watching as mana particles gathered into a ball of unstable mana. The ball vibrated constantly on top of his finger.

Releasing the mana by willing it, the moment the ball left his finger, it exploded into a bright light, prompting Adam to shield his eyes but the explosion was too fast as he was blinded and disorientated for a second, after recovering, he sighted. "Well, it's definitely a flashbang," he remarked, and his stomach growled. Getting out of bed, he rummaged through the cooler and found only a Snickers bar. Adam shrugged, thinking, "Well, it's to be expected from an orphan homeless kid." Recalling the previous Adam's life, he pictured a crowded room full of sweaty, drunken men betting on two fighters in a cage. Then, the memory shifted to how the previous Adam died. "poor kid, he got lucky and better on the winner, getting the grand prize," Adam mused, sighing for the umpteenth time.

A/N Well, here's another chapter. I hope you guys like it. As you might have gathered from this chapter, creating spells isn't going to be easy, and there are a lot of limitations (which I've set for him to overcome so that he grows), such as the fact that he can only control a certain amount of mana particles at a time (which he is going to overcome), and the fact that he only has certain spell slots (which I am going to touch on later, but do know that there are spell slots, which he is going to overcome) or the fact that casting spell requires his own refined mana, which he has a finite amount(AGAIN, HE IS GOING TO OVERCOME). but this limitations are placed in here for a reason, and you are going to have to trust me on that one.
