creating the first spell(kind of) (chapter 2)

Chapter 2

As his spiritual force stabilised, and the mana bulb, now the size of his pinky, solidified within his Sea of Consciousness, it took on an appearance distinct from the dynamic dance of other mana bulbs. Rather than moving like its counterparts, it resembled a frozen moment, solid and unmoving. A triumphant smile graced Adam's astral face. "Did I succeed?" He could hardly believe it. The solidified mana bulb emitted a gentle white glow, and a white line materialised around it, enclosing it in a delicate picture frame. This marked the creation of his very first spell model. [Ding!] [Congratulations to the host for creating your very first spell (Unstable-Mana-Ball)]

[ Name: Adam ]

[ Mana (plain): 1 (particle) ]

[ Spiritual-Force: 0.01/1.01 (1 spiritual force lasts for 1 minute; 1 spiritual force can be recovered in 1 minute) ]

[ Created spells:

Unstable-Mana-Ball(Tier: 0): a very unstable and tiny mana ball that explodes due to its instability. It doesn't do much damage due to its small size, but it releases a bright flash of light when it explodes, Lv:1 (0/100) cooldown: 10 seconds ]

Reading the spell's description while a singular mana particle floated behind him obediently, trapped within the confines of his bubble, Adam couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. "Well, it's my very first spell, so I don't mind," he muttered, shifting his attention to the single spell model still suspended in front of him. "Don't worry; you won't be alone for long," he said with a smile before giving his Sea of Consciousness one last look.

"Well, time to go see what this world that Goldie hyped up for so long is like," he declared, willing himself to exit his Sea of Consciousness. The transition was swift, accompanied by a flood of new sensations. Ringing noises filled his ears, vision remained elusive, and the cool touch of asphalt greeted his face, hands, and body. The unmistakable scent of blood wafted through the air. "What the hell is happening?" Adam was momentarily disoriented by the onslaught of new sensations.

However, memories soon surfaced—memories belonging to the 14-year-old orphan who had recently perished in a gang shootout. "Oh, shit." Despite Goldie's attempt to portray the world's horrors as vividly as he could, seeing them firsthand was an entirely different experience. The harsh reality of this world unfolded before his eyes as he struggled to get up, only to fail and fall face down. "Fuck," he groaned, bracing himself against the walls of the surrounding buildings. The gritty texture of the surfaces beneath his hands added a layer of physicality to the harshness of his reality.

"Alright, let's... calm down for a second," Adam whispered to himself, momentarily disregarding the bloodstains that adorned his hands and clothes. That is when the memories he inherited from the previous Adam flooded in, which he of course tried to focus on, a process that further steadied his nerves. Regaining his composure, he stood up. "Well, time to go back to that abandoned boat," he declared, setting his sights on the familiar sanctuary where the previous Adam had lived—a rusting boat transformed into a habitable space.

- Scene Change -

The abandoned boat rested in a secluded dock in New York, a surprisingly spacious fishing vessel left to rust. The boat bore the mark of a famous rich playboy's past exploits, now worn and weathered. As Adam, still clad in blood-stained clothes, arrived at the dock, his eyes quickly found his boat home nestled among the wooden vessels and cargo containers. Smiling, he murmured, "Home sweet home."

Climbing aboard, he located a boarded-up opening he remembered well. Adam opened it, revealing a dark room. Relying on memory, he switched on a small battery-powered lamp, casting light on the concealed space. The room had its openings cleverly hidden, featuring a small bed with a mattress tucked into one corner. A rusted metal table stood nearby, adorned with various items. A worn nightstand accompanied it, and under the bed rested a weathered suitcase.

His first destination was the suitcase. Adam opened it, revealing slightly cleaner clothes. Smiling, he commented, "For a homeless kid, he was not doing so bad." He changed into the clothes before turning his attention to a small cooler at the foot of the bed. Inside, frozen fruits and drinks awaited him. "And he is also eating well, not bad at all," he noted with satisfaction. Popping open a small can of soda, he settled onto the bed, finally catching his breath. "Not only did I reincarnate into a different and dangerous world, but I also need to create my own spells." The whirlwind of events in the past hour was unfathomable, something no one would believe, not even a loved one if he had any.

Staring at the ceiling, he summoned his floating screen, and it promptly appeared.

Examining his floating screen, especially the newly created spell, Adam reflected, "According to Goldie, as long as the solidified spell is in my Sea of Consciousness, and I have enough spiritual force and mana particles…" He paused, activating his spiritual force and vocalizing the spell's name while raising his index finger. A white light gathered at the tip of his finger, condensing into a vibrating ball that despite being the size of his pinky, illuminated the area around him. "I can cast any spell," he concluded, watching the ball vibrate on top of his finger.
