chapter: 10 A worthy general
***third person p.o.v. kar-el office, six months before the destruction of krypton
"I have done processing all the data that you wanted and stored it in my main circuits", Serena informed kar-el who was leaning on his chair with a thoughtful face. he had been like this for half an hour now. when he didn't respond to her for a while Serena repeated the message with a higher voice that finally took him out of his thoughts.
" hack into every server-related to general Zod, I need every information about what is in his mind at all times from now," kar-el spoke with an unusually serious voice. Serena had never seen him this serious before, even when things took a rather unexpected turn during their travels in the space, he always appeared sure that they could get out of it.
" you seem rather terrified of general. That's the first time I have seen you terrified of something except the idea of venturing into the vast space. " Serena told kar-el as she began breaking the firewalls around the servers related to general Zod.
kar-el smirked as bantered with Serena, " why wouldn't be I afraid of him, he is a worthy warrior to be considered one of the greatest warriors of current times which is impressive own by itself but he has also the ability and charisma to call for thousands of highly trained warriors of the military guild. while I wouldn't have been terrified of him if stakes would only affect me but with how things are right now, stakes are many times higher. my niece and my soon-to-be-born nephew's life depends on this. if I'm not terrified of him even now then I would consider myself arrogant."
" do you not want to see Lara, she will be having a child in 2 months? I thought you were pretty close to her. " Serena asked as kar-el got up from his chair finally and started working on a suit of armor.
the armor looked like any other Kryptonian suit of battle but slimmer in proportions for better movements and the chest and stomach area had higher protection than a normal suit of armor.
" it's not necessary that if you love someone, you have to be with them. sometimes you being there can prove to be detrimental. Lara will be giving birth to a child that has not happened on Krypton in centuries, the fewer eyes she had on her right now the better it is.
the future of the whole of krypton depends on her child. it's better to be cautious now than ever. " kar-el spoke as he tried on the armor to see if there are any defects that should be considered right now.
" what do you think? does it suit me? " kar-el asked Serena as he began to stretch to check the flexibility of the suit.
" Personally, I think it's not bad on you but you look better in a thinker's suit and coat than in a warrior's suit as you carry a scholarly charisma on you," Serena spoke her thoughts as she made a drone deliver a set of twin swords and a spear into kar-el's hand.
" thank you for the compliment, my lady. Now shall we move into the training quarters so that kara could begin her training for today?", kar-el said smiling as he made an effort to move toward the exit and continue toward the basement.
**** P.O.V. kara
'he is late again by 10 minutes already, for someone that is highly diligent about what he works on, my youngest uncle can be pretty lazy when he wants to be. I was so happy when he first started teaching me but as time passed I lost the respect that I had for him little by little.' I thought as I waited for uncle kar-el to arrive any time now.
I turned towards the dummy to get my anger out on it after I got frustrated enough with just waiting for him.
I lowered my center of gravity as I moved my legs into a comfortable stance so I can exert more power with less effort. I narrowed my eyes so only the dummy stayed in my vision and after taking a deep breath, I ordered the A.I.," practice battle mode on" to which it replied by making the dummy move toward me to attack.
As it reached the attacking distance to me, he takes a left swipe at me, I tilted my body to a little right as I was taught. there is no need to take massive actions when little movements could provide the same results.
As it missed the attack, it tried to use the momentum that was already built and tried to make me fall toward the right with the already stretched arm that was used to swipe before. I was prepared and tilted more of my body toward the right so the hand won't hit me immediately and as my center of gravity changed, I lowered my upper body so that its arm flew above my body which made its center of gravity unstable, I quickly griped its left arm between my right armpit and did a roll toward it which made it rise itself on toes otherwise its left arm would break from the joints. finally, because now that its grip on the surface got weaker because of standing on its toes, I used the ongoing momentum that I had already build-up to make its whole body fly above me and slammed it on the floor. I quickly left his arm and slammed my knee on his chest and gripped his both hands in a lock.
As I took deep breaths because of the spar, I heard clapping sounds from the entrance. I turn to observe who was it and I found my uncle observing me while leaning against the wall in a suit of armor. As a Kryptonian, his actions are always different than others of our species. he liked to relax around since I knew him, he had one of the brightest minds on the planet, umm maybe not the brightest but effective would be a better word but even then he more times than not turned out to behave like a child. Maybe that's what made me so interested in him when I was small.
"well done, kara. you are more and more becoming an excellent warrior as time passes. I guess warrior genes are truly as great as they say." he said as he walked toward me while shrugging his shoulders.
"what's with this piece of armor?" I asked to quench my curiosity as I observed him in this new look. I had to say that he didn't look bad in it but I preferred him on his usual long coat more. he had a certain charisma on him when he wore scholarly attire that makes him the center of attention.
" my new suit of armor needs to be tested for defects so I thought why not bring it here so we can test it in mock battle.", he told me while spreading his hands wide with a cutting edge smirk on his face.
" what do you plan to teach me about today?" I asked so I could get prepared my equipment for it.
