Kai died in that building, but instead of his consciousness fading away, he transmigrated into the body of a young Thanos. When he realized where he was, he had an existential crisis. Thanos was a madman who pursued the concept of death, but Kai was scared of death. It was ironic that he had transmigrated into Thanos' body.

Recruiting the Maximoff siblings

As they made their way towards the exit, the alarm bells rang, echoing throughout the base. The voice in Thanos's head suggested turning on "slaughter mode," and the Titan gave an evil smirk in agreement. Hordes of guards began to swarm towards them, firing their weapons in an attempt to stop the intruders. Thanos instructed the Maximoff siblings to defend themselves if necessary while he took care of most of the work.

Wanda used her chaos magic to send projectiles towards the guards, and Pietro moved at lightning-fast speed, getting rid of any Hydra soldiers approaching him. Reading the enemies' minds as usual, Thanos predicted the trajectory of the bullets and moved accordingly. The bullets roared to life while Thanos escaped and deflected them with his bare body. He charged towards the soldiers, taking them out one by one with ease.

He sparta kicked a soldier, producing a crunching sound and killing him in one swift move. He squeezed the head of another nearby Hydra guard under his grip and launched the body towards a soldier who was firing his whole magazine on the Titan, but to no avail. The two bodies collided, and the soldier who was firing towards Thanos died from the impact. The siblings looked at the titan's brutality and questionned themselves about the ruthlessness of their new ally.

They saw the cruelty of this reality and experienced it, but they were still not used to it. Thanos paid no mind to their discomfort, knowing that they were still children. As they approached the exit, Wanda shot a projectile towards a soldier, injuring his leg and causing him to fall to the ground. The soldier pleaded for mercy, but Thanos showed none and violently stomped on his head, turning it into a colorful paste of liquids and flesh. Finally, they left the base, and the Titan looked at the siblings.

He knew that they had a long way to go and that they would need to be strong to survive in this world. He exclaimed, "You may have seen cruelty before, but you have never seen true power. Join me, and we will take down those who have wronged you." The siblings looked at each other before finally nodding at the titan.

"Good." The titan then gestured to quickly follow him towards his transportation, and the duo followed. As they walked, the voice asked Kai about his next steps of action.

Listening to the voice's question, he replied.

'Recruiting more allies with shared interest, and build an army to face this crazy world.'

The voice chuckled.

'I can't wait to see that.'

A trio arrived towards a vehicle, and quickly made their way outside the broken city.
