Chapter 082 City of Eraskis

Chapter 082

Alex had been climbing the Tower of Eraskis for a while now, preparing for the events of the first Avengers movie. He wanted to be stronger to face Loki and his Chitauri army.

And till now, he had seen many things.

He fought the flame wolves and even a wyvern that shot out ice. He solved puzzles and fought his own clone.

He thought that he had seen everything, especially after going through Level 8 and 9. Both of those levels were really hard and Level 9 was even like his worst nightmare came true.

In Level 8, he needed to make his way out over a long bridge in ten minutes while dodging the attacks that were randomly thrown at him.

He nearly fell from the bridge twice and once, a bullet grazed his ear but somehow he managed to cross the bridge just before the timer ran out.

As for the reward, he got a very simple but useful skill called 'Weapon Mastery'. It allowed him to wield any weapon and have basic proficiency in it.

It looked simple but it was one of the best skills Alex could have gotten.

On Level 9, he needed to make his way through a big room full of traps. It sounded easy but he had a penalty.

He was blind throughout Level 9.

Yes, for the entire level, his eyes only saw darkness and he needed to rely on his other senses to go through the room.

The only reason he was even able to pass the Level was because of his wolf who went into 'hibernation' after protecting him from so many attacks.

Still, in the end, he had a lot of injuries and he was bleeding from a lot of places after completing the Level.

Alex had to buy the most expensive healing potions and ointments to heal his wounds. The potions tasted like shit but he didn't have the time to think about the taste.

All in all, it was a horrible experience and even his reward wasn't able to sweeten it.

Though, it was something pretty good.

It was a weapon that Alex didn't have any use for currently. But he was sure that he would be able to use the weapon one day. For now, the weapon was sitting in his inventory.

All this still paled in comparison to the view that he got when the golden light transported him to Level 10 - The final level before he could fight the Demon Lord Dantalian.

When he opened his eyes the first time in Level 10, he saw something that made him doubt his eyes.

"It's a fantasy city."

In front of him was a marketplace with people walking around wearing medieval clothes. On the side, he could see some people in armour talking and there was even a carriage of a noble passing by.

It made him feel like he had suddenly been isekaied to a fantasy world. At that moment, notifications popped up in front of him.

['Level 10' has officially started.]

[You are in the ruined world of Eraskis before it fell to the Demon Lords. You are trapped in a fragment of time.]

[The Tower of Eraskis has issued a challenge. Get close to the King of Eraskis and assassinate him. If you fail to do so, you will forever be trapped in this fragment of time.]

[If you die in the Tower of Eraskis, you will lose your life in the real world too.]

'So, this is Eraskis.'

Alex thought as he read through the notifications.

Until now, he didn't have very many clues about what this Tower of Eraskis is but now, he was starting to understand.

'I need to find more information.'

He thought as he looked around.

'And how will I even assassinate the king…'

Glancing at his quest for this level, he felt a headache. But there was no way to get out of this.

He tried to open the portal that will take him back to earth but failed. It seemed like he was really trapped here until he could assassinate the king.

Like that, his final quest started and unknown to him, a gaze silently watched over him, waiting for Alex to reach him.

It was late at night and one of the most important Shield research facilities was in turmoil.

People were being evacuated by helicopter and vehicles, worry evident in their eyes. They didn't know what was happening but they were ordered to get out no matter what they were doing.

At that moment, one helicopter landed on the compound.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill walked out from it and walked towards Coulson who was waiting for them there.

'How bad is it?" Nick Fury asked, walking inside with the other two following him.

"That's the problem, sir. We don't know." Coulson shook his head and Fury rushed his steps.

The three of them entered a facility, technicians and scientists running past them to get out of the facility.

"Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago."

"NASA didn't authorize Selvig to go to test phase."

Fury grunted as the testing phase was not going to start so soon but Coulson quickly chipped in.

"He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous event."

"It just turned itself on?" Maria asked from behind them, surprised by what Coulson was saying.

"Where are the energy levels now?" Fury asked.

"Climbing. When Selvig couldn't shut it down, we ordered evac."

"How long will it take to get everyone out?" Fury asked frowning.

"The camp should be clear in the next half hour."

"Do better."

Fury said and they went further into the facility. His head hurt thinking about the mess that suddenly had appeared out of nowhere.

"Sir, evacuation may be futile."

Maria Hill said but Fury shook his head.

"Should we tell them to go back to sleep?"

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance."

Fury stopped in his tracks for a moment, contemplating what she said and ordered.

"I need you to make sure Phase 2 prototypes are shipped out."

"Sir, is that really a priority right now?" She asked, not happy with her superior's words.

"Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on. Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase 2 on a truck and gone."

She wasn't able to say anything against those words and they didn't have much time left.

"Yes sir." She said and turned towards some agents standing nearby "With me."
