14 Chapter 14 - Meeting Drake

After leaving the warehouse, Sara and Prime strolled through the streets. Their current priority was to find Drake and put an end to this story once and for all. Prime still remembered the location of the facilities where he had been since waking up in this place with this new body.

Walking through the streets of New York, Sara observed her surroundings carefully. Even though they were both sure that no one was nearby before leaving the warehouse, it was still prudent to ensure they were correct. After all, caution was crucial to prevent the same mistake from happening again.

"So... when we get there, do we just finish him off or something?"

Hearing Sara's question, Prime seriously pondered for a few seconds. He didn't want Sara to become a killer, but at the same time, he himself had already killed people using her body. Moreover, the fact that she remembered these events added an extra weight to his mind.

(We'll see. I didn't want to put you in the position of having to kill him, but from the time I spent with him, it's clear how insane and zealous this guy is. I doubt he'll forget us if we just threaten him a bit. However, it's worth a try)

Hearing Prime's words, Sara let out a laugh. Before, she would never have imagined having anything to do with a wealthy man like Drake. In the end, Sara was an orphan without a home and family. What would a rich guy like Drake have to do with someone like her? In the end, she had only to thank Prime, as thanks to him, she was no longer alone.

"By the way, I didn't feel as much remorse as I thought I would for killing those people... I mean, it was you who killed them more... you get it, anyway, does that have something to do with you?"

Hearing Sara's questions, Prime thought about it for a while. He wasn't sure, but he had a hunch that, as a parasitic life form, Prime shared much more than just their strengths. Prime also felt strange about killing people and feeling nothing about it, but in the end, given their situation, it was a disguised blessing, and it was likely that Sara had acquired it too.

(Probably, though I'm not sure, I think our mentalities and morals are merging, I just don't know if that's a good or bad thing)

Hearing Prime's words, Sara simply shook her head. To be honest, she didn't care much about it. Anyway, it's not like she was going to disappear or anything. From Prime's words, she simply understood that she probably wouldn't have an aversion to killing humans anymore.

"I also can't say whether that's good or bad news, but honestly, I don't care. We're one, remember? This will at least help me not to panic when we're fighting"

Drake wandered through the corridors of his lab, each step signaling his determination to retrieve the specimen. Despite the challenges, he knew it was only a matter of time before he achieved his goal. During his walk, Drake stopped beside one of the cells.

Inside the glass cubicle, a small gray blob writhed. This was the former cell that housed the symbiote, the place where everything started to go wrong. They couldn't grasp the astonishing strength and intelligence of the symbiote, whose powers far exceeded their expectations.

Drake observed with curiosity the small blob moving from side to side in the room. The blob seemed to notice Drake's presence and moved toward him, tapping on the glass that separated them. Drake was amazed; it was clearly a symbiote.

He wasn't sure how this happened, but from the information he had, symbiotes were asexual beings, so they still had no data on their method of reproduction.

Realizing it couldn't get out directly, the blob began to move frantically, seeking a way to escape its cell. Intrigued by the creature, Drake watched closely. Suddenly, something unexpected happened; the blob squeezed through a cracked and broken part of the glass. As soon as it got out, it lunged toward Drake.

Returning to Sara's side, both she and Prime walked through the halls of the facilities from which Prime had initially escaped. Perhaps due to his transformation, Prime's memory had become exceptional, if not supernatural, allowing him to recall almost every detail of what he had witnessed.

"This place is immense"

Sara commented as they navigated the corridors. At one point, they reached a room with several glass cubicles, each containing a person. Sara observed closely, trying to understand the purpose of that place.

"This might be where they keep humans destined for experiments with me"

Sara thought. She nodded in agreement. She planned to return to this place later to free those prisoners, assuming, of course, that they both survived.

Leaving the area where Drake kept humans destined for his experiments, Sara continued to walk through the corridors until she reached a room. Strangely, the door was open. Upon entering, she found a room that looked like it came out of movies about the homes of wealthy people.

Drake was sitting in a luxurious chair, attentively watching a massive monitor where the scene of Sara's transformation and the elimination of Drake's men were clearly visible.

"Isn't this incredible?"

Drake asked, keeping his eyes on the screen before turning to face Sara.

"Human and symbiote living side by side. You achieved that. Can't you see what we can do if we have more of them? We can rid the world of diseases; we can take humanity to the next step of evolution"

Sara's face twisted in a frown upon hearing Drake's words. She wasn't liking the direction of the conversation.

"You're crazy"

Sara retorted, staring at Drake. While she appreciated Prime's company, she couldn't envision multiple entities like him wandering the streets. Moreover, this power shouldn't fall into the wrong hands.

"That hurts"

Drake replied, provoking an indifferent response from Sara.

"I'll write about this in my diary tonight. You're being foolish, little girl. I'm not crazy. Madness is how humans live"

Hearing Drake's words, Sara continued to gaze at him with indifference.

"Seriously? I don't see the difference"
