81 Chapter 80: Invisible Wall

Arriving outside the refugee compound, I looked around and noticed almost every vehicle had been mobilized while soldiers were running around, grabbing crates of ammo and carrying them up to the towers, while so many other things were occurring. I wasn't trying to get involved with this, so I just leaped into the air and softly landed on the roof of one of the towers, though while I still couldn't see the approaching convoy from behind the horizon, it should only be like another ten or so minutes before we can see them.

In front of the tall, chain-linked, and barbed-wired fence, I saw a few tanks at the forefront, while numerous jeeps and humvees were hiding behind them, using the tanks as cover. Off to the right of me, I saw General Klovin holding a megaphone while constantly giving out orders to different squads, which the soldiers did with respectable efficiency.

Still, while they were doing their best to prepare for the inevitable attack, from what I could tell, they didn't have nearly as much firepower as the attackers; their ammo was limited, and while those few tanks at the front were powerful, they were an older model, not to mention they didn't much fuel. The mounted turrets weren't in much better shape either; I can tell they've been cared for, but a weapon can only be used so many times before it starts to break down permanently, and from what I can tell, a good chunk of those mounted turrets are nearing the end of their lifespan. If they wish to keep operating, they'll need some new parts, which will only delay another breaking.

"I guess that soldier wasn't wrong; this place is indeed poorly defended compared to other cities and military outposts." Muttered Tut with a slight frown as he silently watched everything unfold, waiting to make his inevitable appearance.

___

___

While looking out into the horizon, I suddenly spotted several long barrels emerge, causing me to furrow my brows as the appearance of numerous tanks slowly appeared from over the horizon; no one else had noticed them yet, but I'm sure in a minute or two, they'll start to see them.

'Welp, there's my cue.' Thought Tut as he leaped off the roof of the tower only to land right in front of one of the few tanks, surprising the one in the gunner seat who nearly shot him.

"It's you!" Remarked the soldier in surprise as he eyed Tut, who wasn't wearing his normal clothes but a military outfit instead.

I wasn't wearing my normal clothes, mainly because I didn't want my clothes to be damaged as I quite liked that outfit, so I just borrowed this military uniform from some random dude who was about the same size as me.

"Speaking of outfits, before leaving, I need to pay a visit to the security room and wipe the camera's video footage." Said Tut softly before suddenly snapping his head to the right, only for his figure to blur.

Dropping a large caliber bullet, I looked back at the approaching convoy, though I wasn't given a break as I spotted several more bullets heading right for the mounted gunners in the towers, completely oblivious they were about to die. Flying through the air, I grabbed the bullets before returning to my spot and dropping the bullets beside my feet.

"W-What the?" Muttered the soldier in confusion as he eyed the smoking bullets at Tut's feet before squinting his eyes and looking ahead, only to see the convoy approaching them.

It seemed this side also noticed the attacks as the snipers in the towers started to fire back, though whenever that happened, I'd fly through the sky and snatch their bullets right out of the air; I was moving far too fast for anyone to catch on to what was happening, but as they continued to get closer, I was moving more and more, so it was only a matter of time.

'I'm really just brute forcing my way through this, aren't I?' Mused Tut while flying through the sky, snatching multiple bullets out of the air.

While I was disgusted with the other side of this war, I could also hear everything that was happening within Serbia and beyond, so I knew most of the soldiers participating in this war were merely following orders; of course, that didn't make them any less guilty for all that needless killing, but I also knew killing all these soldiers wouldn't stop the root cause of this.

If I wanted to end this war, I needed to deal with the head, though, at the same time, I didn't wish to get involved in this war.

"Well, that's been thrown out the window, hasn't it?" Muttered Tut with a frown while flying through the air, using his entire body to stop the sniper bullets.

___

___

"General Klovin, somethings amiss; none of our bullets are hitting our target." Stated a soldier through a walkie-talkie, his words causing Klovin to grunt in anger.

"What is that supposed to mean!? You're talking to me because you can't kill the enemy!?" Exclaimed Klovin angrily as he spoke through the walkie-talkie, causing the soldier to wince before handing it to his partner.

"General Klovin, it's not that we're missing; we don't even see the impact of our shots. I've shot ten bullets, yet not once have I seen them hit anything, not even the ground. To top it all off, we haven't been shot at once." Declared the second soldier with more detail as he looked through his optics, only to see a slight blur, which was Tut, saving everyone's lives.

Listening to my soldier, I furrowed my brows and stood up; exiting one of our poorly built bunkers, I hid my body behind a tower before climbing the ladder, ignoring the warnings of my men behind me. Once at the top, I stayed low to the ground before looking to my right, watching as one of my soldiers shot, yet when I looked back at the approaching convoy, I saw nothing.

"Give me that." Said Klovin sternly as he grabbed the sniper out of the soldier's hand and pushed him out of the way, angering him, though when he realized who it was, he nodded his head and moved out of the way.

Looking through the scope, I rested aimed at the head of a man driving a jeep; holding my breath, I led the shot before steading my aim, pulling the trigger, and firing, yet despite the confidence I had in my marksmanship, there was no form of collision whatsoever. The man's head didn't explode; the jeep wasn't penetrated with a bullet hole, nor was there a small divot in the ground behind him; all I saw was a blur right when I pulled the trigger.

Frowning, I shot another two times, yet the same thing happened, and before I could question it, I felt someone tap on my shoulder.

"General Klovin, I-I think you should look at this." Said one of the soldiers respectfully while standing up, exposing half his body from behind the protective covering.

Squinting my eyes at the soldier, against my better judgment, I took a risk and stood up, exposing myself to the rain of fire, yet, even after ten seconds, nothing happened; looking around at the other towers, I spotted several other soldiers standing up, yet still, they weren't harmed.

"What is it, soldier?" Asked Klovin with a rough voice as he eyed the convoy before suddenly hearing a loud boom, followed by smoke emerging from a tank's barrel, prompting everyone to drop to the ground reflexively.

After waiting a few seconds, there was no loud explosion or anything of the sort; it was like the tank had shot a blank; standing back up, I once again overlooked the supposed battle, only seeing the occasional blur flying through the air.

"Right there, General, on the ground." Said the soldier, pointing toward the ground a few feet before the first tank, only to spot a line of bullets while more fell to the ground wherever the blur traveled.

"What the?" Muttered Klovin in astonishment as he looked on the ground, only to spot a massive tank bullet lying amongst the pile.

___

___

The beginning was easy as they only shot sniper bullets, though the closer they got, the more and more I was required to block until it got to the point where everyone was within shooting distance. Around one-thousand rounds were fired every second, and while it wasn't too difficult for me to stop the rain of bullets, it was damn sure tedious; flying through the air while swatting tens of thousands of bullets was annoying.

'Haa, when they realize it's pointless?' Pondered Tut as he floated in the air, watching the hundreds of bullets slowly head toward their destination.

I'm not kidding; for the next twenty minutes, I flew back and forth, stopping either side from killing the other and creating a massive pile of brass casings and bullets below me. However, when one side stopped firing, the other side did so as well, causing me to sigh in relief as I stopped moving and landed on the ground while dropping the remaining bullets in my hand.

"Haa, finally; that was so tedious." Muttered Tut while sitting in the front of a tank, while everyone looked at him with widened eyes.

"My goodness, don't tell me he was."

"He had to have been; don't you remember when he first appeared? He easily caught two bullets back to back; I saw the whole thing happen."

"TUT!" Yelled Klovin angrily through the megaphone, causing one of the snipers to shoot at him, only for Tut to appear right before him with a smoking bullet in hand.

"Yo, what's up?" Asked Tut curiously, already knowing what the conversation would be about.

___

___

Damn, with speed like that, it looks like Quicksilver has got nothing on Tut! The same goes for the Eternal Makkari.
