Chapter 178: Discussion Of Apocalypse
Watching Beast install a mutant suppressive collar onto Magento before connecting him to a breathing mask, which was expelling sedating gas, just in case the collar wasn't enough to fully suppress his now greatly enhanced powers. After all, it would only take him but a thought to kill numerous people.
Pietro and Storm were also wearing mutant suppressive collars, though, unlike Magneto, they were both locked away in a cell; the former wasn't much of a threat, even if without the collar, he most likely wouldn't be able to do anything while stuck inside that cage. Storm, on the other hand, could most definitely escape the cell, but that's only if she didn't have her collar on, and even then, breaking out of a cell is far less dangerous than being able to kill everyone with but a thought.
"So, when are your powers going to disappear? You usually don't keep them for so long." Asked Tut as he glanced at the sedated Magneto before looking to his left eyeing Rogue, who shrugged her shoulders.
"I don't know. I had absorbed enough of his power to knock him unconscious, so I'll probably have it for some time; I can't give you an accurate time limit, though." Replied Rogue as she glanced at Tut, speaking so fast that only he could properly understand her, while to everyone else, her voice sounded muffled and distorted.
Nodding, the two of us watched Beast do one last check on Magento to ensure everything was correct before he left the room while we followed right behind him, the three of us heading to the briefing room, where every other X-Men currently was. Entering the room, Rogue went to the right of the table, sitting beside Gambit, who she seemed to have a little crush on, while I went to the left, sitting beside Scott, who wasn't exactly the biggest fan of me.
'C'mon, can't you be a little more subtle?' Thought Tut with a wry expression as he glanced at Scott, who was practically glaring at him in annoyance through his special glasses.
"Thank you for your help, Pharaoh; without someone to stop Magneto, I don't think we would've been able to even fight back, let alone protect our students." Remarked Professor X with a grateful smile as he sat at the forefront of the table and glanced at Tut, who snapped his fingers and pointed at him with a smirk.
"Now, regarding what Gambit had told me, Apocalypse, as he calls himself, wants the host of Phoenix Force, a power that supposedly governs life, destruction, and rebirth, according to him. We believe he is referring to Jean, as something happened to her in Cerebo yesterday." Added Professor X solemnly as he glanced at Gambit before nodding to Beast, who pressed a button, causing the video of what happened between Jean and Pharaoh to play for all to see.
'Great, there I am, naked for all to see; at least the only women present are Kitty and Rogue.' Mused Tut with a slight blush of embarrassment as he looked at the projection before glancing at Kitty and Rogue, whose eyes both slightly widened.
"So big! Oh my." Said Rogue and Kitty, respectively, the former speaking loudly, yet thanks to her hypersonic voice, only Tut heard her while the latter whispered under her breath.
Seeing both Rogue and Kitty glance at me, I winked at both of them, trying to cover up my embarrassment, which worked on Kitty but not Rogue; she knew me too well for that.
"Hehe, Jean is going to be very pleased." Remarked Rogue with a perverted chuckle as she looked at Tut, who scoffed before looking away while his blush deepend.
Once I grabbed Jean and exited Cerebo, the video ended thankfully; I didn't need a whole bunch of men to see Jean naked, and I had a feeling Scott would cream his pants if he got the chance to view her bare body.
"So, that's what's happened, Cerebo." Muttered Bobby with a nod before he glanced at Tut with a smirk, though he promptly ignored him.
"You couldn't at least blur my body, Beast?" Asked Tut with a frown as he looked behind him at Beast, who didn't even glance his way, causing him to click his tongue in annoyance.
"Anyways, as you all saw, we don't know what happened to Jean, but we believe she is the one Apocalypse is looking for." Stated Beast solemnly as he paused the video right when Jean's power first erupted from her body, taking on the appearance of a fiery phoenix.
"Then we should tell her." Said Scott with a slight frown, earning a nod from Pharaoh as well, which he didn't like.
"Yeah, I think Jean deserves the right to know; I'd also like to know if I had some weird dude coming after my life. Speaking of Jean, why is she not here?" Remarked Pharaoh with a nod as he sat upright while glancing between Beast and Professor X, earning the agreement of every other X-Men.
"Until she learned how to control her newfound abilities, I had temporarily removed her from the X-Men; I couldn't possibly have Jean injuring herself or her team members. However, yes, I do believe Jean deserves to know, and maybe she'll have more information about this Phoenix Force." Declared Professor X with a slight frown as he glanced at the projection before looking at everyone else, only to nod in agreement and gesture to Rogue.
"I'm on it!" Said Rogue as she stood up and saluted before speedily running out of the room, only to return moments later with Jean in her arms, carrying her like a princess.
'I'm definitely taking a picture of that.' Thought Tut as he quickly snapped a photo of a confused Jean in Rogue's arms before storing his phone away.
"Um, w-what's happening?" Asked Jean in confusion as she looked around at everyone while Rogue set her down.
"Where have you been? Don't you know we were just attacked?" Questioned Tut with a raised eyebrow as he looked at Jean, who glanced at him before shaking her head.
"N-No, I've been in the danger room since yesterday, trying to control my powers." Replied Jean lightly as she passed the smiling Scott, who pulled out an empty chair for her, only to sit down beside Pharaoh, causing him to sport an ugly expression.
"Have you made any progress?" Asked Beast curiously, though all he got from Jean was her sighing and shaking her head.
"No. Maybe? I-I don't know. Sometimes, I feel like I'll make some slight progress, and then other times, everything is out of my control, and it takes all of my focus to suppress myself." Remarked Jean in frustration as she hung her head down while clenching her fist in anger, causing wisps of ethereal flames to emerge from her body, prompting Pharaoh to affectionally rub her back.
"Ay, it's all good, Jean; no need to get so worked up; it's only been a day since your abilities awakened. Have some more patience; I'm sure in a month's time, you'll be far better at controlling the power." Said Tut softly with a smile as he soothed Jean while suppressing his hisses of pain whenever his fingers got burnt.
Thankfully, my words managed to calm her down, which caused me to sigh in relief since having your little fingers burnt wasn't a pleasant feeling.
"Yes, Pharaoh is right, Jean; patience is key when it comes to mastering not only your powers but anything; you must take things slowly and one step at a time. Rushing through things will only delay or even completely halt your progress; trust me, I've been in that situation before." Declared Professor X with a nod as he looked at Jean, who sighed before reluctantly nodding.
"I know, Professor, but I nearly killed Pharaoh, the strongest person I know, and if he nearly died, what of everyone else? If I lose control or experience an outburst for even a second, I could potentially kill hundreds in an instant." Stated Jean nervously as she bit her lip and glanced at her hands before looking at Professor X.
"An agitated mind will only increase the chances of such a thing occurring, young Jean; I understand you're nervous and scared of your newfound powers, but having such a thought process will not help you in the long term. Instead of thinking you must control your powers to protect people from yourself, think along the lines of controlling your powers to save others; it may only be a slight difference, but that might be all you need." Remarked Professor X softly with a faint smile as he looked at Jean, who sighed and nodded.
"I-I'll try, though it's not going to be easy." Muttered Jean, causing Professor X to nod.
"If you ever need assistance, I'll gladly help, Jean." Said Scott with a smile as he leaned forward and glanced at Jean, who flashed a smile, causing him to blush deeply.
"Simp." Muttered Wolverine quietly as he glanced at Scott, causing Tut to laugh since he was the only one who heard him.
"Anyways, I believe we should return to the reason why we Jean's here: to discuss about Apocapylse." Said Beast solemnly as he switched the image of the projector, causing a photo of Apocalypse to appear.
"Eh, Apocalypse is a person?" Said Jean in slight surprise as she looked at the projector, prompting everyone to nod.
Giving Jean a quick summary of what had occurred while she was in the danger room, she was caught up to speed, now knowing she had someone possibly after her life, which caused her to frown.
