Chapter 118 The Experiment Begins!

Arthur looked at Tony and asked, "So, did you bring me a surprise today?"

"I'm not sure if it's a surprise or not. I just brought you… well, a letter!"

Tony said as he took an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to Arthur.

Arthur took it and noticed that Tony was staring at him intently, even blinking his eyes at him.

Tony cleared his throat before speaking, "The weather's nice today. Uh, don't you want to open it and see?"

"Isn't it nice to wait until I've seen you off? After all, I can open it any other time."

Arthur said with a smile.

Tony grinned, "Even old people should keep a curious mind. Anyway, I'm not a very curious person. The stuff is delivered, and I've prepared everything you need. I look forward to your experiment results."

With that, he turned to leave, but stopped after a few steps: "By the way, is there a bomb in the letter? How about you open it now and see if you can make it explode on the spot?"

Arthur looked at him blankly but didn't say anything. After a moment's thought, Tony cleared his throat again before speaking, "It's a good day for surfing, and I've made plans with Pepper. I'm leaving now."

This time he didn't delay with excuses and walked straight out the door.

After exchanging glances with Banner, Banner said, "I think he really wants to see that letter."

"You are probably right."

Arthur opened the envelope, and the contents were more than he had expected.

First, he took out a map. After unfolding it, Arthur looked at it and his expression changed slightly.

"What is it?"

Banner asked as he walked over.

"A defensive layout of a SHIELD research facility."

Arthur said as he memorized all the details, closed his eyes to think for a moment and then looked at the map again.

After confirming that he had remembered every detail, flames erupted from his hands.

The map turned to ash in an instant. Banner sighed, "You should at least go to the bathroom. That way I wouldn't have to clean up."

Arthur looked at the black ash on the floor, went to the bathroom, and opened the letter.

It was more like a note than a letter.

The content was very brief as only one sentence was written on it: "Please trust me!"

The flames consumed the envelope and the note, leaving nothing behind.

"It has a kind of espionage feel to it."

Arthur stood up, looked at the ashes on the floor, swept them up and flushed them down the toilet.

Then he hesitated.

The defensive layout had clearly marked locations.

Most importantly, there was a symbol with a drawing of a cube on one of the locations.

"The location of the Tesseract?"

Arthur scratched his head, "How important is the Tesseract, really…"

...

...

In the new laboratory!

The three of them were gathered around, observing.

A pale blue serum lay on the table, looking rather lonely under the gaze of six eyes.

This was the first product since the lab had officially opened.

The data had been revised three times for this product alone, and a total of thirty-five percent of the resources had been wasted.

So the three of them were extra cautious.

After a while, Dr Connors said: "I'm a bit reluctant to use it. It's just too beautiful."

"No matter how good it looks, if it doesn't produce tangible results, it's meaningless!"

Arthur looked at them before saying, "Should we use lab rats?"

Banner and Dr Connors both shook their heads in unison, "Absolutely not!"

"The energy from the serum alone isn't enough, and the auxiliary power wouldn't be sustainable for such test subjects!"

Banner spoke up, "We need a large-scale test subject."

"It's too early for human trials," Dr Connors said hesitantly. "But where would we find a suitable subject?"

"I have a few 'bad persons' among the freedom fighters that we can use."

Arthur looked at them, "But won't that make us the villains with bared teeth and wagging tails?"

"At least they are still normal people who can face legal consequences."

Banner scratched his head in frustration, "How about I do it?"

This suggestion didn't even warrant any discussion.

But it reminded Arthur of someone: "Perhaps I have a suitable test subject."

"What?"

They both looked at Arthur.

"The Abomination!"

Arthur said, "The one who wrestled the Hulk in the streets of New York. That guy has completely lost his mind. Rage has completely taken over, and he was using a taxi as a prop in his performance art. I think he's beyond saving. If our serum is effective, he may be able to return to normal.

The Abomination is a different case from Banner.

If released, he would be a threat capable of tearing the planet apart.

Keeping it in the Disassembler room isn't ideal either. If Arthur finds something he wants to use in the future, he'll take up space.

Instead of just letting him sit there, it's better to test the serum on him and see the results.

After all, even if he were handed over to the government, he'd still be a subject for laboratory research.

After a brief discussion, they decided to use the Abomination for the experiment!

However, this meant that they had a lot of preparation to do.

The Abomination's size and violent tendencies made the experiment risky. Without proper preparation, it could turn into a second Hulk vs. Abomination showdown.

In the end, Arthur and the team needed three days to prepare. After three days, the experiment began!

The Abomination, retrieved from the Disassembler space, was still unconscious and limp.

Dr Connors marvelled at the sight, "It's like a miracle".

"Are you talking about his herniated discs?"

Arthur secured the large figure to the restraint platform, with the anaesthetic and serum ready.

As he raised the restraint platform and closed the experimental chamber, he continued, "It is indeed a miracle for a herniated disc to protrude above the surface of the skin! Do you think the bones growing out would cause him pain? Is that why he's destroying everything?"

No one responded to Arthur. Once he finished his preparations, he and Dr. Connors moved to a safe position.

Arthur gave a signal to Banner upstairs, who immediately activated the controller!

The serum penetrated the Abomination's skin, and the computer displayed the serum injection percentage and the Abomination's bodily data.

When the progress reached fifty percent, Banner started administering the Vita Rays.
