Seeking the truth

What is going on? What could prince Liam be? A devil? A demon? Well, why then did his parents have to get him a wife? Or rather why did his mother assent to getting him a wife? Because his father is kept in the dark.

I can't quite comprehend what I heard but whatever it was, it seemed Liam was more than just a rude and proud prince. There was more to it. I left the fountain and went back to my room, this time my room with Prince Liam.

When I got there he was getting ready to leave. He glared at me "don't touch anything that doesn't belong to you." He ordered and left.

"Where are you going?" I said sharply and he halted. "I'm not trying to pry, I just think it's proper for a husband to let his wife know where he's going off to." I said.

"You do think of me as your husband? Too much for your dumbness." He scoffed and without looking back he left.

I sighed and sat on the bed. I started to think of my sisters. Were they okay? Were they passing through this hell of a marriage in the same way I was passing through it? Have they consummated their marriages and have they even conceived or delivered for the first or second time? Were they equally married to demons or just old kings?

'Why does my life have to be like this? What is prince Liam's true identity' thinking of that made me realize I had little time right now to try to find out what Liam really is.

I quickly rose to my feet and started to search for clues in the room. I didn't know what I was looking for but I just had to find something. Maybe it could tell me what Liam is. I got on my knees and bent over to look under the bed when someone quickly called me.

"My princess?" The female voice said.

I quickly jerked up to see the maid standing in the room, she had a few fabrics in her hand. She stared at me before she asked "are you looking for something?"

"Ugh, Uhm." I stuttered for a while before I finally came up with a lie "my earring. I think I must have dropped it off carelessly."

"But you have both earrings on my princess." She said.

"Yes, not this one." I said.

"Oh. Then I'll help you find it." She said and placed the fabrics she had on the table to head towards the bed but I quickly stopped her.

"No no. You don't have to bother yourself. I'll handle it, I'm sure prince Liam would not spare you if he walked in on you searching under his bed." I said.

"Right."

"So, I would not like to put you in such a compromising situation, my dear." I said smiling.

"You're very kind my princess." She said.

"What is your name?" I asked.

"Gabrielle my princess." She said blushing.

I smiled "you've got a very lovely name, Gabrielle." I complimented.

"Thank you, my princess."

"Okay Gabrielle, I'm sure something must have brought you into my room. I noticed the clothes."

"Oh yes." She said and picked them up "These are three of our finest Fabrics. Fit for royalty. My princess the queen has instructed me to make a beautiful outfit for you. It's almost time for the devata festival and every royalty must attend." She explained.

"The devata festival? What does that even signify?" I asked.

"It's a festival held every four years my princess. This is where all royalties present the new member of their families within the four years interval of the last festival." She explained.

"All royalties?"

"Yes. From five kingdoms. Avira, Masoca, Tarnor, Dankas, and Akalon, our kingdom. The festival is held at the Whiteriver." She explained.

"A white river?"

She scoffed "it's not a river. It's a castle where royalties gather for whatever event they had planned out. It's like a meeting point for them all."

"Oh. So?"

"So, you have the choice to decide the fabric you love best so I can design your royal outfit. The festival is in two days." She added.

"Oh. The red one." I said.

"Okay, my lady." She responded and turned to leave but I halted her.

"Gabrielle?" I called.

"Yes, my lady."

"Please I need you to tell me why none of you maids ever enter prince Liam's room when he is around." I said.

"Uhm, it's, it's nothing my princess. Prince Liam just doesn't like having maids or guards around him." She responded.

She tried so hard to act normal but I could see right through her, she was lying, she was hiding something, maybe something she was instructed never to speak off and I won't force her to speak.... just yet.

"Oh. Okay. You may leave now." I said.

"Thank you, my princess." She bowed and left.

As soon as she left I quickly locked the door so no one else could come in without my knowledge and sat on my bed. I had so many problems right now. First off, my sisters and then my husband. Am I even cursed? What sort of life is this?

I don't get to have a personal maid, I don't get to leave the palace, I don't even get to discuss with my husband. This is just so ridiculous.

I even lost the zeal to search for whatever explanation I was searching for? Would I even find any? This is just so unfair for me. But I needed to find answers so I kept looking.

Finally, I discovered a door hidden behind the wardrobe. I tried to open it but it was locked. I pushed it hard but no way.

'I'm sure this door holds the answers I seek. What door could this be? I've been in this room for a few weeks but I never discovered it till now and I'm sure the prince and probably the queen are the only ones that know about this door. I need to find the keys' but I looked at the door and there was no keyhole. If anything could open it, it should be some kind of spell and I don't even have it.

'A book. Yes maybe if I could get a book I'll be able to unlock the door.'

I started to pull out all of Liam's drawers in search of a spellbook.

"What are you doing?" Liam's voice spoke.

I quickly jerked and turned around to see Liam standing right there. What? I thought I locked the door.

"H.. how.. how did you get in?" I stuttered in Liam's presence.

"That doesn't answer my question princess." He said and started coming towards me furiously taking daring steps. He then stopped a few inches away from me and glared at me.

"You seem never to mind your business do you?" He said. "listen princess Nardin the next time I'll see you around my things, you'll regret it." He said in an angered voice.

"I'm... Sorry." I whispered fearfully. My heart was beating fastly the whole time. Liam ignored me and went into his changing room.

I turned to close the drawer but it was already closed. All of them. 'I didn't see him touch any of them. Something is up with this prince.' I thought to myself.

I was wondering what could be going on when I suddenly heard something from the window. It sounded like someone was throwing pebbles to call attention. I rushed to the window and looked down to see Edward. My first love and ex-boyfriend.

What is he even doing here and how did he get here?
