Chapter 49 Farm 3

The yard could even be turned into a village containing not less than a thousand people or more, that's how large it was. The house might look so old but it doesn't mean it was not beautiful. There were different sections of houses of the same kind, the same patterns and designs just forming a curve.

We all got out of the car and walked towards the middle house. "Hazel!" Someone called me, I turned to see who it was and was astonished by who I saw. "I'm sorry for what grandma did to you!" Avery said warmly and walked away. For a normal person this was the sweetest thing ever but for me, I was cautious. Nothing in this house was ever normal especially when it came to Grandma and Avery.

I got into the house too, and was in awe by what I saw. Though the house was dressed in woods, it doesn't make it less attractive to the houses we got these days. This house was so beautiful and comfortable for every one.

There was a carbinet at the corner of the lounge filled with varieties of award representing different event. "Great grandma must really be a popular person!" I muttered softly looking at the mixture of the golden, silver and bronze award. "Mummy!" Carie screamed when she saw the old woman come in.

I was astonished by who came in, astonished is not the right word. I was perplexed by who I saw. Earlier when I heard great grandma, I thought she was an old blind woman or a crippled blind woman who has completely lost her teeth. But I was wrong cause she was completely normal, looking slightly older than grandma. Her green dress was so beautiful on her slender body. Her hair had turned white matching her black eyes perfectly.

She smiled at Carie who ran to hug her. Her teeth were white and complete, she looked so young to be a great grandma. "My baby, where's Alex?" She darted her gaze around till it fell on me. Even if she had an intimidating appearance she still looked so simple compared to Grandma who adorns herself with expensive jewelries.

"Come child!" She gestured her hands calling me and I walked up to her taking deep breaths and preparing myself mentally for another temper tantrums. But her next move was surprising, she hugged me instead of throwing insults at me. Her scent was pleasing to the nose.

"You must be Alex's wife!" She muttered her words softly so only I could hear her speak. "Yes!" I said, we pulled out of our hugs and she smiled looking at me, "Maria you picked the right woman for my Alex, by the way where's my boy?" She asked again as her eyes explored the lounge.

"He traveled out, but he should be back in five days!" Mother said. "Come come I need to know all about you!" She held my wrist and took me to a room. I darted my gaze around quickly wondering why she brought me here away from everyone. She noticed my uneasiness and said, "Confused why I brought you here am I right?"

"Yes!" I answered quickly, "You know when Alex decided to finally get married, you don't know how happy we all were. He's been through a lot of failed relationships and we were tired of his constant cold attitude. My son decided he needs a wife at least someone who can stay with him. I personally thought your relationship with Alex would not last until I saw the news last night!" She said smiling.
