"Why??" She said and pouted like a child but his gaze remained serious as he looked at the book on his hand.
"You can read any other books but not this one." He simply said and turned to fix the book back to it's place.
Elen sighed and nodded her head. "It's fine. I understand." She said and went to sit back on the bed.
"So you still haven't answered my last question." He said and Elen gazed at him from head to toe. She could see he was still naked and needed to wear clothes, a towel was wrapped round his waist though.
"You need to dress first, and I'm hungry. I need to eat." She said with no expression on her face but only her knew she was happy inside. 'This is for taking that book away from me. I'll make you beg till I'm satisfied.' She said in her head even though she knew it was not possible. Hah! Alexander pleading?! That's something that would never happen!
Alexander put on his clothes and sat beside his wife, she shifted her gaze and looked outside the window. Alexander sighed as he noticed his wife's behavior.
"So tell me..." He asked but in a more worried tone that Elen couldn't bear to hide it from him again. The way he said it made her heart bloom in joy, was he really worried for her? She shifted her gaze from the window to him and for the first time, she found him as cute. Well, she always found him to be a god, strikingly handsome but today he looked cute. His hair was tussled and the way he looked at her was cute in her eyes. She smiled.
She held his hands and squeezed it, her gaze had now turned serious and Alexander guessed that whatever was bothering her was very serious.
"I...I had another dr -" She could not complete her words because a knock echoed in the room but before she could stand to check who it was, Alexander stood and walked towards the door, he opened it, only to find a maid standing at the door.
He raised his brow as he gazed at the maid.
"I came to tell her highness that it's time for lunch." She said and Alexander nodded and closed the door.
He walked towards his wife and held her hand as he guided her towards the door.
"Where are we going? Didn't you say you needed an -"
"Didn't you tell me you were hungry just a while ago? We're going to have lunch." He said and Elen smiled. Well, she actually lied about that, ever since she had that dream, she hadn't had much appetite but she still needed to eat, and she didn't want to suffer weight loss, now that he's taking her for lunch, who's she to decline when her love was going to be beside her?!
"Y-yes I did say that."
"So let's go. Shall we?" He said and she nodded. He was acting sweet, one moment cold and the other sweet. You can never predict his moods. Elen thought.
They stepped out of their chambers and three guards trailed behind them. They reached the dinning hall and she could see the feast of foods they served. 'Is there an occasion? I mean this is too much!' She thought.
Alexander set out a chair for her and she sat without saying a 'Thank you.' Well, what could she do? She didn't want to upset him.
When Alexander had sat down, she began to munch her food. Alexander looked at her and a smile curved up his lips that he didn't even remember that he needed to eat.
Elen gazed around the hall and she couldn't find any of Alexander's men. 'Strange? They're all supposed to be here.' She thought and looked at Alexander who had resumed eating.
"Alexander?" She said.
"Mm."
"Your men. Where are they? They should be here right?" She said and Alexander paused for a moment. She's right! When he came back, they had being avoiding him and it gave him further ado that they must be hiding something from him. If not, what did they tell his wife that she seemed more worried about him?
He signalled for a guard to come over and he whispered some words in his ear.
"Yes your highness." The guard said and bowed before he left.
"They'll be here in a short while." He said and Elen nodded. She didn't really expect him to call them over, she just found it strange that they weren't with him and it made her ask.
....
The guard who was instructed to call Amadeus and the rest of the men was already standing in their quarters. He sighed as we walked towards Lucas's room. He was the most approachable among of them.
He gave a light knock on the door and it was as if he was expecting that knock, the door opened like the wind with an anxious Lucas standing by it.
"His Highness called for you and your comrades." The guard said and Lucas raised a brow.
"Are you sure I was the first person his highness mentioned?" He asked and the guard went silent. Sigh...it doesn't matter anyway, we're all going to die though.
Lucas nodded and stepped out of the room to call the rest of his comrades. He violently knocked on Amadeus' room. He stepped out and told him about their prince's request to see them. He panicked and went to call the rest of the men.
They were all gathered in a certain corner with a tensed look on their faces. "What are we going to do when his highness asks us?" Robert said.
"You were the one who told the princess so you should find a way out of this!" Finn said.
"What could I have done at that time? I had no choice!!"
"Look guys, we shouldn't argue, did the princess not promise us that she won't say a word about it to his highness? Let's trust her, she's the only one who can get us out of the mess Robert created." Lago said as he glared at Robert.
"You're right. Let's get going then."
They made their way to the dinning hall and found Alexander and Elen silently eating.
Alexander sensed their presence and he lifted his face as he gazed at them.
"Come over." He said and they subconsciously walked towards the table.
They stood with their shoulders high but only they knew that they were breaking on the inside.
"Y'all can have a seat if you want to." Alexander said and they glanced at each other. What's with the niceness?!!
"Yes, your highness." Amadeus said and they all followed their leader.
"Eat!" He commanded and Elen creased her brows. 'There's no need to act cold towards everyone.'
"You can have as much as you want, we can't eat all of these." Elen said in a sweet tone and they just nodded.
Elen gazed at the five men and she noticed something was off. It was not their expressions or anything. Well, with their kind of prince, everyone would always feel intimidated.
She still carefully studied each and everyone of them and that was when she realized someone was missing among them. 'Ahh! How could I forget?'
"Where's Bruce?" She said and Alexander who was studying his men's every reaction suddenly went frozen and stared at his wife, while Robert and his comrades just chanted the words in their heads. 'Why do you want us to die now? We had done nothing wrong! Just kill us already!'
Elen noticed the stares thrown at her and she knotted her brows. 'Huh? Did I say something wrong? It was just a harmless question.'
