Rivero's nightmare - II

Hera nodded as she read Rivero's mind and confirmed his suspicions " Someone indeed sold us out, but who ?" Her brows furrowed at the thought of it.

But they didn't have have time to dwell on the issue because five more armed men came into view , Hera as well took out her shotgun and gunner down three of the men that was close to Rivero , putting herself in an unfavorable position but she careless, she winced when a bullet come in contact with her skin .

Bam !

She was shot on the shoulder,blood spluttered out and trekked down her arm staining her once immaculate white long sleeve shirt, turning it crimson red. She turned to see the bastard that shot her , disregarding the pain that shot through her arm her eyes become bloodshot as she aimed at him . The click sound of her gun cut short her joy of making a hole on his head with her bullet.

Shit ! Am out

Throwing away her gun , she clenched her fist and waved at the men belonging to the Rainbow guild

" Show me what you've got , surely you guys won't hid behind a gun to take down a lady "

She smirked, the sarcasm in her tone didn't go unnoticed by the guy, and it seemed like her taunting worked because they threw their gun away as well .

They circled her , she spun while in the same spot to avoid a sneak attack, Infuriated by her sarcastic comment they didn't think twice and they launched their attack on her which she swiftly dodged returning the blows and avoiding their attack.

The pain in her shoulder puts her at a disadvantage, deep down she knows she has to end the fight earlier so as not to exhaust her energy because she's yet to bring Luke's heir to the safety of his mother's arm . So thinking she decided to hit them where it hurts most. Their privates!

' Brace yourselves cause this gonna hurt ' avoiding the hit that was aimed for her face she bent and kicked his privates bringing the tough guy to his knees. " That was faster than I thought " she smirked, the other guy saw how she wasted the other guy made a mental note to avoid her legs , he knew she was wounded so she wouldn't last long.

All her attacks were futile as her opponent was much tougher than the previous one , her strength was fast diminishing and her visions were starting to turn blurry , when she thought she was not gonna last long she saw the guy fall straight on his face. With blood gushing out from the back of his head where a deep hole was made .

Seems like Rivero has had his first kill, her blurry visuals saw him shivering with the gun in his hands, she trotted towards him but stumbled along the line for Rivero to run to her rescue.

" Don't die on me Hera, You're yet to teach me the dual kill " he said which earned him a chuckle from her .

" Am not yet dying Riv, I'm yet to bring you to safety ,till I've done that I don't think my soul can rest in peace" she replied to him, for him to raise a brow at her .

" Ok, she raised her hands in surrender and also teach you my technique ' dual kill' " Rivero smiled, and helped her up by holding her right hand and then proceeded to walk to the east gate of Luke's mansion.

After a few minutes walking in the rain , Rivero saw the silhouettes of his mother and sister standing and anxiously waiting for them in the rain. His sister after confirming their identities ran towards them with their mother walking behind her.

" Riv ! " She screamed excitedly amidst tears

" Rissa ! Mother!" As much as he was itching to return the hug he couldn't let go of Hera who was leaning on him for support.

" It's ok , tough guy I got this " she winked at him , giving him a signal of her being alright. He nodded and let go of her for his mother and sister to squeeze him with hugs.

Their awesome reunion was halted when they heard the shouts of men coming in their direction. Rivero left his mother's embrace and turned to face Hera .

" Hera , hurry take my mother and sister with you , I will distract them !"

" You will do no such thing, Rivero! You're coming with us and that's final ! " Stacy , his mother interrupted," I've lost my husband and am not about to lose my son too ! "

Rivero knew his mother wouldn't back down until he obeyed her, but not today ! His father has told him severally that whenever he's not around , Rivero ,should take care of his mother and sister and that's what he's gonna do. Holding his mother's hands he squeezed gently in a reassuring manner and looking into his mother's eyes ,

" you're not losing me mother, I only have to distract them and come back to you in one piece , I can't afford to face father if anything happens to you and Rissa " he reassured her and she nodded amidst tears. He gave Hera one last look and returned her wink , as the shouting got closer he ran out in the open for them to see him and run after him , creating a detour for his mother and sister to escape without their pursuer's noticing.

Rivero woke up with a start, and a photograph fell on the fall and shattered as a result of him being startled.Beads of sweat had formed on his forehead as a result of the haunting dream he had . ' I had that dream again ' he clasped his head in between his hands . His eyes fell on the photograph on the fall he picked it with trembling hands. He ran his hands through the picture and a tear fell , the two people he couldn't protect ,his mother and sister .

`` Mother, Rissa , where are you?'' he fought back the tears , and raised his head up to stare at the ceiling of his study .
