Retribution

For what seemed to be the twelfth time Chloe had changed into twelve dresses that she didn't seem fit for her job profile.

She picked up the flowery yellow knee length gown again and shook her head ' too short ' she dropped it and picked another lacy blue one ' tsk, no ! too revealing. I have to make a good impression not many have that of me right now.'

Fifteen minutes later , she settled for a formal red skirt , white blouse with a white fitted jacket, her white blouse was tight around her breast , which she had successfully managed to hide with her jacket. She wore it with matching blue heels. She removed her hair band and allowed her curly hair to lay loosely on her shoulder. She didn't bother to apply makeup on her face at work; she decided to appear all natural.

' Now I look every bit formal ' she thought and heaved a sigh.

Walking down the stairs , she saw Clara who smiled at her with a thumb up,which she returned .

" Good morning ma'am,Sir Liam is already at the dining, you can proceed to join him for breakfast " Her smiles disappeared immediately when she heard her, but she soon plastered a fake one and proceeded for the dining.

' I hope he won't disapprove of my choice of dressing . Getting together Chloe with shaky legs she approached the dining, luckily she didn't see him seated there but she saw his breakfast that was mildly touched which means he is nearby , glancing around she caught sight of his silhouette at the balcony speaking in low tone.

Chloe let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding in , ' Thank heavens his on a call ' she can't afford to see the disdain in his eyes , nowadays she's been treading carefully to avoid stepping on his toes.

Sipping her coffee, she remembered she didn't text Daisy about her safe arrival the previous day, picking her phone she saw the numerous texts her anxious friend left for her. Dropping her mug she smiled at how caring her friend has been of late , she texted her back apologizing for her behavior last night and filled her in on the recent happenings in her life since the past 12 hours.

Smiling sheepishly to herself she berated her friend for always itching for gossip when the latter asked her to explain everything in detail. Still smiling and exchanging texts she didn't realize that Liam was done with the call and he had already returned to the table. He coughed to draw her attention back .

Chloe shifted in her seat awkwardly and greeted him " Good morning Mr Liam" she greeted flashing him her set of sparkling white dentals, but the latter didn't reply to her , rather he continued from where he left off on his breakfast.

" We leave for the office in Ten Minutes " he emphasized more on the time to let her know how much she has left to have for breakfast. She gulped when she heard him. She dropped her phone on the table and clasped her hands together. She didn't know how to present her idea that she's been forming on her head since the previous night.

" Uh, Mr Liam - I've been thinking, since it's my first job in your company. She swallowed and clenched the table linen. I think it's best for me to start from a lower position " she blurted out , for him to drop his mug . She saw his reaction and hurried to explain herself.

" What i meant to say is this , As you know not many people have a good impression of me in the country right now, Heck ! I've been called all sorts of names but the one that sticks to me is the stigma of a murderer. I've been called out for murdering my best friend and now I'm showing up at her fiance's office as his personal assistant! What do you think will happen if I ever start work in your company as your personal assistant? "

" The press won't stop coming to your company till the make a topic out of the both of us , unless you don't want your company to be on the front page of Flex magazine tomorrow you have to reconsider the job you're offering me Mr Liam "

He gaze dwelled on her for what seemed like eternity, he retracted his gaze from her and went back to his breakfast.

" Like I said before , you have ten minutes but you've exhausted five now you have only five "

' I don't think this stubborn man will change his mind at this rate . Who am I even kidding ! He did mean it when he said I will bear the consequences.Damn! This man wants to kill me before my time!He's busy creating more enemies for me. ' She hissed out her displeasure inwardly and threw away the table linen.

She had barely eaten anything when she saw him stand up and announced their departure .

'Not only is he planning to kill me he is taking me to the slaughter himself! How am I supposed to come back in one piece when I am going to his company with him in the same car ! I hope I survive my first day at his company ' She resigned herself to fate picking up her bag as she walked after him .

' This must be my retribution '.
