Office Enemy - II

Passing through the same hallway that they came through , she smiled at her reflection on the glass. Hannah opened the elevator and stepped in, once inside the elevator Chloe couldn't withstand the question that was bugging her mind since she left the hallway that leads to Liam's office .

" Hanah, uhm - ah , she smiled a bit to mask her nervousness. She doesn't want to look like a curious person to Hanah . She quickly shut her mouth and faced her head front.

" Yes, Chloe,you were trying to say something "

" Ah- it's alright nevermind" she dismissed the thought too quickly. Hanah turned to face with the brightest smile she could muster .

" Look Chloe, it's alright if you want to ask anything. Feel free if you want to ask me anything. You are one of us now ". Hanah said encouraging her to voice out her questions about the firm.

" It's just that I noticed that Mr Liam occupies a whole floor " she couldn't hide her question any longer, having been given the room to speak freely she might as well speak frankly.

" Oh ! That 's nothing. Just that Mr Liam has the tendency to get upset quickly, he hates noise and likes his private space " Hanah quickly explained

" Really ?"

" Yeah"

" But isn't that too much ? I mean to have a whole floor to himself! Doesn't he know what companionship means ".

" I know right ? But he's the great Liam Reigns and he's the boss around here . So we go with the flow .

" I can't possibly think of staying alone , cos am likely to suffer depression if I do so "

" Mr Liam is short tempered . No one can possibly stay in the same space with him for long without committing suicide, but I heard he's having the construction company come over to build another office next to his. " Hanah said, with a shrug of her shoulder.

" On the same floor ? " Chloe didn't know when the question rolled out of her mouth, I guess her curiosity to know more about Liam was what's pushing her.

" Yes, He's going to employ a personal office assistant. He or she will resume work today or tomorrow. I so much pity the unfortunate soul that will stay in that floor "

Chloe gulped when she heard her , ' I guess that unfortunate person will be me '.

Ding!

" We're here " Hanah announced with the clap of her hands.

The elevator stopped at the 20th floor of the building. Revealing a busy atmosphere, Chloe's eyes flitted to the opulent workplace, the windows and doors were made of fiberglass from top to bottom. Many fresh palms in golden pots enhanced the look. The ceiling was high and several chandeliers graced the ceiling adding to the brightness, giving a warm and cool ambiance to the office environment providing enough warmth for the workers to bask in.

She had visited many companies when she was an actress for endorsement deals, she had admired their interiors, but this was next level ! There was a small chamber on the side for smokers. Chloe could hardly see any one sitting idly , many were receiving calls from clients, others were either typing documents or doing one thing or the other.

Phew! ' Thank goodness workers are too busy to notice me . She made a sign of the cross and proceeded to work behind Hanah . They arrived at a large office that the walls are also made of glass for Hanah to knock and open the door.

" Hi , Terry, This is Chloe. She would be joining your team. I believe you have been briefed about that . She asked him to nod , "great I would be seeing you then " with that she smiled at Chloe who smiled back at her then she proceeded to leave the booth .

" Hi i'm Chloe Adams " she said fully introducing herself to him .

" Hi, I am Terry North , manager of the advertising department." Chloe gave him a smile as she shook hands lightly with a bright looking man in front of her. He looked simple in his coloured shirt, black tie and black pants. He stared at her and forgot what to say as his eyes were fixated on her face , Chloe left his hand and cleared her throat . Smiling nervously at him.

" Please follow me to the 18th floor. That's where your office is .

" Uh , okay " . She said and trailed after him all this while her heart was banging loudly against her chest, several thoughts filled her mind .

' What will my colleagues be like? Will they be willing to work with me ? I hope I won't get to meet one of Rose's die hard fans ? Hope I will do well on my first day here . Well Chloe there's one way to find out .

Arriving at the 18th floor , everyone was silent as they saw their Manager. whispers filled the air Chloe was able to pick out few

' Why is the manager here ? Is he here to deliver another memorandum from the Ceo ? Hope he's not here to sack another person again!

Chloe was a bit relieved nobody was able to recognize her , not yet ! Maybe their mind is clouded with work to notice her or spare her a glance.

" Hi guys, This is Chloe she will be joining team one , do well to accommodate her and show her around " Terry's voice rang out , making everyone's gaze to be on her thereby making her the center of attention.

Terry came closer and pat Chloe's shoulder " good luck " Chloe forced a smile and nodded. With that he left her on her own to deal with the not so happy colleagues .

' This is it Chloe, you've been in front of many audiences much more than them , you can do this ! There's no going back now !

With her false smile still plastering on her lips , she faced the people some whose emotions were readable some whose emotions weren't. She was pretty sure that one of them was sacked this morning to create a vacancy for her , the packed boxes beside one cubicle says it all.

She can't possibly think the great Reigns Corporation will be lacking employees. Many graduates have high hopes in working for them likewise models many of them desperately want to bag an endorsement with them.
