Chapter Two

Mom was sitting under the guava tree, when she saw the two of us coming back from school, 'Mom were back 'said Musa and Bello, 'go and change your clothes' said Mom. Okay Mom we said. Dad was busy clearing the farm, it will be raining season soon. I and Bello used to follow our Dad to help him with some farm work, Bello will always find excuse to ran away from the work, at first Dad allow him to leave but later he saw through his lies and no longer believe him.Malam Hassan their neighbor was a business man, he used to called Abdul and Bello to tell them stories about the city and places he went to, Musa was mostly interested in asking questions about the people and education in those places, Malam Hassan gave him a detailed answer, Bello asked questions about entertainment and places where we can eat food and so on. Malam Hassan said yes there is and also many wonderful places you've never seen or been to. As Bello was listening he saw his friends Auwal and Isa, he excuse himself and followed them. Malam Hassan asked Musa what he wants to become in the future. Abdul told him that he want to be someone that will make his parents defend on, make them fraud, and also help people in need. Malam Hassan said I really admire you and I wish I could live long enough to witness your success. Abdul smiled and said I hope so.It was Saturday morning, there is no school Bello already went out with his pals, Musa went out to fetch water from the well for his mom, as he was coming back from the well when he saw the village Chief Ali with his guards going outside the village, Musa greets them and he went on his way. The chief said this Musa is indeed a good boy as for his brother I don't know what to say. I just hope that he will change' the guards answered 'you're right sir'. Bello with his pals were busy playing in the bush when a man wearing dark clothes come to their side, he said 'boys do you want to be rich?', the boys looked at each other, then turn to the man and shake their head, the man then leave behind the words ' meet me here in three days if you change your minds' as he went away. 'That man was suspicious' said Auwal as he looked at Bello and Isa both nod their heads too, then Bello shook his head as if doubting that it doesn't make sense. He said "I think that man might be telling the truth you know" looking at both Auwal and Isa trying to convince them "it might be our once chance in a life time to make it big think about it". Isa was dreamily looking at him while Auwal was frowning. "Trust me that man can help us there is no need for us to go to school, all we need to do is follow that man and we will not suffer or struggle for life". Isa's eyes start seeing stars as he imagine how their life will be like in the future full of riches, luxuries and so on saliva start dribbling from his mouth without his knowledge. Auwal saw how Isa has entered a dream world he can't help but knock him on the head saying "stupid wake up". Isa felt the knock so painful that his eyes tear up. Bello said "oh please can't you be gentle with him?"Auwal replied "I have to knock some sense into him there is no free meal in this world". Bello said while frowning "Yes I guess you are right somehow though not convincing but even so there is always an exception". Isa who has already calm down and was enjoying their argument said "let's stop here on this matter since we have three days to make our choice", they both agreed with him and went back to continue their play.
