Charles Vol

I stare at myself in the mirror, my reflection returning the gaze with an intensity that makes me step back slightly. I'm dressed in my usual leather outfit, tight pants, heavy boots, and a shirt covered by a vest filled with pockets. Each one of them carries a story, a memory, or simply a practical use.

My hair is as dark as the night itself, contrasting with the whiteness of my immaculate skin. My face, young and unmarked, is shaped by blue eyes that seem to hold a mystery of their own. I look at myself once more, questioning what I see, as if the reflection could answer my doubts.

"Is this reincarnation?" I whisper to myself, the words echoing in the silence of the room. I take a deep breath, letting the air fill my lungs as I try to process the new memories flooding my mind. Charles Vol. The name echoes in my head, a name that doesn't belong to me, but now seems as familiar as my own.

Son of a wealthy farmer. The image of vast fields and well-kept barns appears before my mind's eye. I clench my fists, feeling the tension build in my muscles as I continue to digest this information.

In this world, dangerous monsters roam freely. Talking creatures that fly, violent monsters that hunt their victims during the day. The idea is surreal, but the memories are vivid and real. And to complicate matters even more, magic is a palpable reality. Mages, beings capable of manipulating the hidden forces of the universe, exist in this world.

I close my eyes, letting myself sink into the depths of these newly discovered memories. "This is definitely reincarnation," I murmur to myself, the words sounding strange in my new voice. Before waking up in this young body, I vividly remember being in an interplanetary mining capsule, extracting cobalt on one of Saturn's moons. And then... everything exploded.

The explosion, the feeling of despair, and then the void. And now, here I am, in a completely different world, inhabited by creatures and magic that previously only existed in the realms of imagination. But how did I get here? Why was I torn from my former self and thrown into this new fate?

I look around the small room in search of any sign that this is just a vivid dream. But every detail, every sensation, seems to scream with a tangible reality that cannot be denied. I take a deep breath, feeling the air fill my lungs, the beating of my heart echoing in my ears. There is no mist, no distortion. I am fully conscious, as I have never been in a dream.

"Okay, this is also not a dream," I murmur to myself, resignation weighing in my words. "After all, it would be impossible to survive that terrible explosion."

I accept the truth that now reveals itself before me, even if it is hard to comprehend. This is my new world, this is my new destiny.

The room is simple but functional. A modest bed, a chest to store my sparse clothes, a glass window that offers a view of the world outside, and a table with a wooden chair. There is no luxury here, but it is everything I need to start.

With a resigned sigh, I approach the window and look outside, greeted by a celestial spectacle. The vast blue sky stretches as far as my eyes can see, with no visible limits. White clouds float in the distance like great ships sailing on a sea of infinite blue. The sun, a golden and radiant sphere, paints the window glass with its warm rays, illuminating the room with a golden light.

As I contemplate this magnificent view, a sense of familiarity takes over me. "I'm flying..." I murmur to myself, connecting the dots of the memories that now inhabit my mind. "I'm on some kind of airship, and according to the memories of this new body, I'm heading to a conference of magical schools."

A smile forms on my lips, mingling with the sense of wonder. I also recall the sacrifices my father made to secure my place on this airship. Lands sold, wars fought... All to provide me with this unique opportunity.

As I lose myself in thought, my arm moves almost instinctively towards one of the pockets of my multi-pocketed vest. I retrieve a small ring from there, a family treasure that has been passed down from generation to generation. My father, or rather, George Vol, the father of the former owner of this body, gave me this ring with words of solemn importance.

"Son," the memories echo in my mind, George's words echoing as if he were beside me. "Many years ago, when our family was still humble farmers, an ancestor of ours helped a mage. As a reward, he gave us this ring and told us that if any member of our lineage showed talent for magic, we should use it as payment to enter a magic school."

I hold the ring between my fingers, feeling the weight of its importance. It is a responsibility, a heritage that now falls on my shoulders. But it is also a promise of possibilities and adventures that await beyond the clouds at the conference of magical schools that now approaches as we fly.

I observe the ring in my hands, marveling at its complexity. The base, made of a shimmering blue alloy, emits a faint glow that seems to dance under the light. On the body of the ring, letters are intricately carved in a language unknown to me, their intricate lines seeming to vibrate almost imperceptibly.

"Shit..." I murmur to myself, unable to contain my admiration for the beauty and complexity of that family relic. "If I still had my Virtual experimentation chip, I could analyze and run some tests on this ring in my virtual lab."

Just as I finish that thought, an electronic voice echoes in my mind, surprising me to my core. "Beep! System initializing..."

My eyes widen in astonishment, almost popping out of their sockets, as my mouth drops open in shock. "No way?!" I exclaim, hardly believing what I'm hearing. "My Virtual experimentation chip came with me to this new world too?! But how? How is that possible? Wait... Does this mean the soul exists?"

My mind spins in a whirlwind of questions and possibilities, trying to grasp the magnitude of what I just discovered. The idea that my essence, my soul, has been transported to this new body along with my knowledge and technology is unfathomable.

I turn my attention to the chair near the table, feeling the urge to sit down and start organizing my thoughts and plans for what's to come. I walk over, pull the chair back, and settle comfortably at the table.

"If the other scientists who lived on Saturn's other moons knew about this discovery, I'm sure they'd go crazy..." I murmur to myself, recalling my distant past, now so irrelevant compared to the extraordinary present unfolding before me.

I shake my head, pushing away the memories and thoughts that have no place in this new world. The moment is now, and I must focus on what lies ahead.

"Beep! Virtual Experimentation Chip successfully activated!" announces the electronic voice in my mind, interrupting my reverie.

"Beep! The database is empty, please populate it with information for a better experience with Virtual Experimentation Chip version 1.53."

I listen to the chip's words attentively, and an ironic smile forms on my lips as I process the situation. My database is empty... Of course, that makes sense. I'm no longer using the physical chip; it is now integrated with my spiritual essence in this new body.

With determination, I issue the first mental command to the chip, focusing my mind on the objective. "Chip! Analyze and extract a perfect 3D hologram of this ring!"

A red light projects from my eyes, intensifying as the chip begins to execute my order.

"Analyzing object... 0.1%"

"Analyzing object... 0.2%"

"Analyzing object... 0.3%"

I watch intently as the red light scans over the ring in my hand, the chip performing its meticulous analysis. My anticipation grows with each passing second, eager to see the result of this first interaction between my technology and items from this new world.

After about 1 minute and 53 seconds, the chip completes the full analysis of the ring.

"Object successfully extracted, ready for experimentation!" announces the electronic voice in my mind.

A smile of satisfaction forms on my lips. "Initiate my Virtual lab," I order, as I move my hand forward and place the ring in one of the pockets of my vest.

With a soft hum, the environment around me begins to transform, the walls of the room disappearing to give way to an unlimited virtual space. And then, before me, appears the perfect hologram of the ring, floating in the air with all its intricate details.

This is the beginning of a journey of discovery and exploration, and I am ready to dive headfirst into this new magical world. "Hahaha... I hope my technology gives me an edge over the other people and creatures in this world that is behind in comparison to the technology of my past world."
