CHAPTER 29
Kreegan thought of testing one more thing, so he took off the black katana from his belt and placed it on the counter, and said:
"Since I'm not a thief like you, I'm including this in our trade. Its name is Chisanami, and it is a Graded rank sword. Here take it."
The second he declared that, he heard a ding sound. It was a system message about bound sword change. In his status at the bound sword section, there were Ichinami and Yubashiri. Chisanami was not his bound sword anymore. Kreegan was a little disappointed. His original plan was to summon Chisanami back as soon as he left the shop, but his bound sword was revoked as soon as he announced he was going to trade it and gave it away.
The system didn't have any loopholes in this aspect. He left the shop and returned to the ship. Alexander was sitting on the side rails of the ship and eating an apple when he saw the different sword at his hip said:
"Did you go and buy a sword? Was this the thing you had to do?"
"No, it was a bonus thing I got."
"Come on; I want those heads of my ship. I don't care how well you froze them."
Kreegan had managed to use something weaker than cantrips by only using the elements themselves. This was not useful in a fight, but this gave him the ability to create small flames like a lighter flame and freeze things in a little bit of time. It took him 10 minutes to freeze one head. This way, they didn't rot in their long travels. He took a big sack of heads and disembarked the ship while grumbling.
"There are 60 million bellies here, you idiot."
he turned and looked at Alexander, then brought his hand to his eyes as if he couldn't open them.
"The sun reflecting off your head is strong enough to blind someone; you should integrate this into your fighting style. We could call this shining pussycat."
Alexander threw the apple with all his might at Kreegan and then shouted at him.
"If I was an idiot like you, I would have a head full of hair too. They fell off because I am a genius!"
"Ohh, come on, Lexy. I was just joking. Don't pout like a little kid. Do you want to come with me? I will buy you an ice cream."
Alexander showed him the finger.
"Fuck you! Kreegan."
He threw him one more apple, and Kreegan dodged it again. Then Alexander went into the ship.
-----
Kreegan arrived in front of the Logue Town Marine base and greeted the guard at the gate.
"I would like to collect those bounties."
He handed the sack in his hand to the marine guard, and the man opened his eyes, screaming, and threw the sack out of his hand.
"Why the hell is this sack full of heads!"
"The bounty always says I could bring them dead. A person tends to be pretty dead when you remove their head, and I needed proof that is why I brought them."
When the soldier screamed, the attention of the surrounding marines was gathered here, including a young girl with brown eyes and short black hair that came down to her chin. She had rectangular glasses with a red frame. When she first saw Kreegan, she didn't care much, but when her eyes caught a glimpse of his sword, she brought out a small book from her white-trimmed, waist-length blue leather coat. Then she started flipping through the pages quickly, and a whispered word came out of her mouth.
"Yubashiri"
Meanwhile, Kreegan had learned where the bounty office was and was heading toward it. This young girl ran up to Kreegan and asked excitedly.
"Hi, is that Yubashiri? One of the fifty Skillful Grade blades!"
Kreegan had recognized this girl on sight, and indeed, she and Kuina looked alike enough to be twins, but she looked bigger than Kuina and around Kreegan's age. Yes, he didn't see Kuina for the last two years, but she wouldn't have grown this much. She looked around 16-18 years old, and she might be a little bit older than him. She did a salute and said.
"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Petty Officer Second Class Tashigi."
"Hi, I am Kreegan D. Wucrane, bounty hunter, and yes, this is Yubashiri. You have a keen eye for swords."
She started scratching the back of her head and smiled shyly.
"Yee, I am a bit fan of katanas."
"She took the book out of her pocket again and started to rummage, but after a while, she said with a scowl.
"I can't find anything about your other sword. It looks like a Meito, but I don't recognize it."
"Maybe it only looks nice and isn't a good sword."
"I don't think someone that has the guts to enter a marine base with a sack full of heads wouldn't carry a sword for a show."
"You are right. It is a Skillful Grade sword, but you can't find it in there. There are still swordsmiths capable enough to create good swords, and not every Meito is recorded there."
"What is its name?"
"Ichinami."
She took a pen out of her pocket and began making notes on the back of the book. As Kreegan was contemplating how to approach Smoker, Tashigi appeared before him. So, he would, of course, won't waste this opportunity. After delivering the bounties, he walked towards the exit while chatting with Tashigi.
"Why don't you join the Navy rather than be a bounty hunter? Is money really that important to you?"
"Money is good, but that is not the reason I am not joining?"
She started to show a bright smile and said.
"So, you want to join the Navy?"
"Maybe in the future."
"Can you tell me why you are wasting your talent being a bounty hunter rather than serving justice?"
Kreegan had forgotten how idealistic and devoted Tashigi was to justice.
"I will join the Navy when I have enough renown because I don't want to start from the bottom. When I am strong enough at the Grand Line, I will enter the Navy with special recruitment."
